Steam's Annual Awards

It's that time of year again when Steam is ranking games for their annual awards categories!

Hands down, the Labor of Love award should go to Hinterland!

I've cast my vote and would encourage anyone on Steam to do so as well.
The Hinterland Team deserves this recognition considering their on going commitment to this excellent game.

Who's with me on this?

TLD got my vote, but I can't see how TLD can out vote the big-name high-selling games.

you may have a point there, but I really can't think of any big name high selling games that are still regularly putting out content and updating their games.

just curious which titles did you have in mind that could be competition?  I might be interested in playing those unless I own them already, lol.

I didn't have any particular games in mind but there are games which far outsell TLD.  Far Cry 5 sold 25 million, there must be others in that league.  With that number of players TLD will be lucky to compete.  I am not sure what each of the Steam competition classes are nor of the year of publishing of games.

The most recent game that I have been playing is Far Cry, New Eden.  It had some good points but when it became spraying machine gun bullets at endless hoards of attackers, I gave up, wanting something that required more thought and planning than action.

@peteloud, Far Cry may indeed have millions more sales and released new titles every couple of years, but that isn't the same as up keeping an existing title updated and supported.  With TLD we haven't had to pay for any updates, bug fixes or what not, but if you gotta shell out upwards of $50 USD for a title or a new map, then I don't believe it qualifies for the award category.

I'm with you on wanting better, the only Far Cry game in my collection is Far Cry 3 which I got in August of 2014.
Guess what title was released on Steam in September 2014 and that I've been playing regularly ever since!

"This is literally the "you tried your best category". I always see people talking like this category is for smaller scale projects , but that's obviously not the case I mean the winner this year is Grand Theft Auto Five. I know some people poured their heart and soul into that game, but that can be said about nearly every game. While I can't think of anyone I am sure that there were people working on it that we're just there for a pay check. What is even nominated this year?

agi'n! No forager, no plant zoo. Not even a game from this year, but also a game that's already one. I'm I missing something, is Grand Theft Auto Five the greatest game ever made or to be made. Is this it, have we made our Citizen Kan. Does Grand Theft Auto Five deserve all the praise in the world? I'm being hyperbolic of course. I not really even mad at the fact that Grand Theft Auto five keeps winning and I'm not really even saying that they are undeserving of the award. I just find the ambiguity of the categories appalling. I realize art awards require a level ambiguity in order for new works to win them. How ever these are something different these half of these categories might as well say, the what ever we feel like advertising category." -Me
