Skilled survivor achievement concern

Hi! I'm a long time player and I love the game. It is by far my favorite game to play and I don't expect that will change. However, I have been working hard at getting my achievements. I have 36/40. In my current sandbox I have 288 days towards my 500 days, 'will to live,' achievement. It's the same survivor I used to get my faithful cartographer and I'm not quick to part with her, as I have already lost my longest living survivor to climbing too far up in mountain town and falling over a mountain through a train tunnel roof into uncharted territory (by the truck you can see near a bridge when you look down the cliff before passing into the cave to mystery lake.) That survivor is still there waiting, hoping that region becomes livable. My current survivor is working on the 'skilled survivor' achievement and was almost there, just working on fishing and mending and archery all at level 4, to get to level 5. I'm concerned that having already looted the entirety of all the maps that my now level 1 revolver will be impossible. I'm wondering if the update added revolvers and books to my existing save, or if I'm going to need to start a new survivor for my achievement. If the content was added, im all for spending my last 212 days of my 'will to live' efforts in collecting and increasing my revolver skill to 5. I will re-search the whole island. But if it wasn't added to my existing save id like to know sooner than later that I'm going to have to start a new survivor for my 'skilled survivor' achievement. I do have a third sandbox survivor, who is only 28 days in and is working towards my 'silent hunter' achievement who could continue on and potentially get me to my 'Skilled survivor', but I would much prefer to continue on with the other survivor who has a complete map and needs to progress in days to my 'Will to live.' Any input, information, or advice is greatly appreciated. I'm just seeking a bit of clarity. Regardless of how it all works out, I will continue to play and love the game. Thank you Hinterland developers for giving me such an awesome game and experience.

I started new saves because I didn't have anyone who had very many days behind them (my 500-day guy jumped from TWM on Day 500).  However, some people reported in the Update thread that they had found revolvers and revolver ammo in areas of their maps they had already explored, so I really think it's worth searching.  The most frequent spawn for the revolver that I've found over several new starts since 1.48 has been under Gray Mother's bed.  I would check the prepper caches in ML and PV as well.  (I had almost given up finding one in ML until I found the Tools prepper cache in that start and found it there.  I haven't ever found one in the Lower Dam, although other people are reporting find it on a desk near the generators.  I really hope you find one.

Thank you. I'm currently living put of the camp office as my ML base, so I will try checking out the lower dam and see if I have any success. Strangely, this is the only survivor save I've ever had where I haven't found a hatch/preppers cache in ML. I have spent a ridiculous amount of time searching for it, because there has always been one before somewhere in the region. But not this time. Perhaps, there's still a chance I will stumble across it. If it's not at the dam, I've been meaning to check out PV anyways to see the changes I've been hearing about, so I'll head that way. Also, that was also my plan for my survivor after i get my 500 day achievement... to throw her off the back of the plane on the summit.  For originality sake, I may throw her off a cliff or waterfall in HRV.  Haha.

I found the one in the lower dam! Came with 5 shots. Also, I finally found the preppers cache by the train unloading area, but it seems my memory isn't great, since it was already looted. Haha. It did have a few energy shots, though, so that was cool. I'm feeling encouraged and will continue this survivors goal of reaching level 5 on all categories. Thanks for your help!

I've been finding a lot of ammo just out in the world.  so you might be able to make it.  I sort of wish I'd been paying attention and stopped the out update because I was 1 skill set level in 2 skills from the achievement. :)

I've done three new ML starts since May 18th and I've yet to find a single revolved in the Lower Dam in Mystery Lake.  In fact, the ONLY revolver I've found in ML at all is the one I mentioned in my first post.  For me, despite the changes made to revolver spawning in the hotfix, they are as rare as ever.  On the last start I did, even the "old faithful" spawn for me under Gray Mother's bed failed... so no revolver found in either ML or MT regions in that test.

Whenever Hinterland updates the game with new items, every presently saved game gets the new items repopulated into the current world at places that have already been searched. With regards to the ammo; rifle rounds, revolver rounds, flare shells, and broken arrows are some of the many things than can be found while beachcombing.

It's wonderfully vindicating when you've been holding on to something "just in case" and later on it really does come in handy :D

I'm absolutely loving the revolver.  Ammo is plentiful enough that I don't feel like I have to ration it, so I can actually USE this thing.  That said, I don't shoot everything that moves.  I still opt for evasion/distraction, and only shoot wolves that end up in my back yard, to get a few days of peace.

100% agreed.
Though so far I've only fired it once... but since I have more than 100 rounds, I know if I am really in a pinch I wouldn't hesitate.

Also, I love that it's quick on the draw.  :)

I kind of feel bad saying this because it's such a great addition already but I wish it were a little quicker to respond.  The revolver comes up on the screen fast, but then there's a delay of about a second before you can actually pull the trigger. I'd really love to be able to Indiana Jones that mother.  Just drawBANGholster in one smooth motion.

I had a similar issue. 350+ days in my longest game, working towards 500 days and Skilled Survivor, and then the update hit. It was actually pretty enjoyable to search the entire map again for the new items, and it definitely helped me get much closer to 500 days.

I found 3 revolvers (one in the lighthouse at DP), several revolver skill books which helped me get to Level 3 pretty quickly, and plenty of bullets.

I basically turned Mystery Lake into a deer and rabbit graveyard, but I finally got the Skilled Survivor achievement. 💪

I've gone back over all of the previously searched areas on my long haul run and haven't found a single revolver.  Its a wee bit frustrating, but it is a long haul run and I had nothing planned for the next 200 days other than schlepping stuff from TM to CH.  So I'm going to recheck everywhere again.

I thought I would try to be helpful and decided to start a new Voyager game this morning since the only feat I have not completed is the one to do with fires and I had about an hour before I needed to get ready for work.

I only started one fire and it did register within the current game log for sure. I need to double check if it shows on the all time log as I did not check beforehand but I will do that when I get home today.

Okay, sorry for what seems like a double post but I wanted to make sure ya'll saw this.

I just got back home and onto the game. I think there may indeed be a bug regarding feats. While I have started a total of 3 fires in the voyager run I started this morning, the game does not add them to the total fires started in voyager mode overall.
