  1. Yup, you're right, I didn't mean it to be a mistake, more like "there is an opening for another exit, over here" I know the shortcut to Transfer Pass, and the way down before Whealy's Turn, having taken both twice already, but you're right to mention those ^^
  2. I killed the western bear, quartered it all and harvested everything in the Sudden Washout, that's how I came to know those places. Same as you, straight Voyageur run, but I didn't see any moose around the Creek. Found the other bear totally asleep during an Aurora, kinda blocked on a rock just outside Fallow Dugout, the icy cave on the eastern side of Shoulder Lake
  3. I wonder if I passed over it without seeing it or if I really didn't see any in the main Hangar... On which shelves did you both find any noisemaker? @past caring@Shadox
  4. That's why i put a spoiler tag, I kind of remember you didn't want maps from others But some other people might want the help... From the Mindful Cabin, if you stick to the northernmost then westernmost wall, you walk in front of Sudden Washout, then you arrive at that rock. if you climb down that cliff (with or without a rope), you arrive a bit south of a bear's hideout. So, you're right in a way: you don't really need it... But to evade that bear, it can help a lot.
  5. There is a total of 3 rope spots : 1 already has a rope tied to it (leading up to Justy's), 1 leads to the Mindful Cabin coming by the east, and 1 leads to Sudden Washout (sorry, I translated myself) coming by the south, thus evading the bear's cave just a bit north of it (but still in the north half of the west side). I found only 1 rope in the Main Hangar... In the hope I can be clearer, I made a partial screenshot of the map I found on steam :
  6. One thing that comes to mind now that I've quite explored the new regions is that there is an exit missing near Justy's Hovel : you're already quite high above the southern road that connects FA to the Transfer Pass, and you're also quite beyond the connection point in FA. On the other side, in Transfer Pass there is a rope-place (missing the rope) near the mine entrance which could connect to the SE corner of FA. Either that, or there is some connection-to-be between the mine entrance and the plateau up there ? What do you think?
  7. Same problem for mapping Mindful Cabin, it doesn't show on the map... 3 cabins (2 without loading screen), 2 trailers, 8 caves, 4 closed helicopters outside, add 1 crashed and open, 3 airplanes outside. I'm also 1 rope short : it's either put it to evade the bear on the west (and climbing up to Sudden Ravine) or near the western fishing hut (and climbing up to Mindful Cabin) to evade the wolves up the slope following the road.
  8. Between the hangar and the cave underneath Justy's, there is usually a herd of deers and does. From the cave itself, if you go north on the big frozen pond, there are 2 rabbits' spots. Finally, at Justy's, just behind the cabin, there is a rabbit's hole, and there is another one if you head for the rope. In between the cave and Justy's Hovel, there are only 2 wolves patrolling, easy to deter or eliminate. So, Justy's Hovel seems fine enough, with the cave just down the cliff (spawning some coal over time), the deer herd grazing between there and the Hangar, several rabbits' spots nearby (you can even go as far as the hunter's blind if you want more rabbits without wolves). More than enough to eat from! On a side note, you need light to craft arrow shafts but crafting arrows in the basement can be done without any light... I can't remember if it was the same before...
  9. @HonestNo misinterpretation on my part, and I hope none on yours too, my message was just informative (sorry if the tone was upsetting, it was not meant to be): if you play on Steam, it's up to you to decide if you want to upgrade while running a game or not. Via other means, I really don't know. In Steam though, by right-clicking on a game in your collection and selecting Properties, you can decide if you want to always keep the game up-to-date (by default), and if you want to pause the download of updates while playing (this choice is also the default one). So, if you launched your game immediately after starting your pc, and these choices are yours (always keep the game up-to-date, and pause the download while playing), then you'd be playing an older version of the game. To know in-game if you're playing a version or another, getting back to the game-menu is one way, pressing F8 and looking at the screenshot is another, and finally looking at your stone-caches in the log will tell you if you happen to play with the newest version : the top 3 regions shown in this part of the log are the new regions (Forsaken Airfield, Transfer Pass, Far Range Branch Line). If you see those, then your version of the game has been updated. Glad you found a way by yourself.
  10. For your info, I made a fire just outside the eastern crashed helicopter so it was wind-protected, I stayed inside near the fire and was fully benefiting from it !
  11. The game has been totally revamped so that Wintermute and Survival are now different games. Any saves before that revamp cannot play anymore once the game has been upgraded to the new system, except with Time Capsule... As written everywhere on this forum, and on all other supports, it is required to start a new game to get the benefits of the DLC. Older saves will not be compatible. Your new saves will get all the benefits of every new milestone of the DLC, except stated otherwise. For the time being, consider all of the future milestones to be new additions to you actual game, because that's what's written
  12. Really not far from where you "fell" is just another hole : if you keep climbing up the tree, heading for the bridge, you pass on the other side of the slide. Then, stick to your right and you'll reach it. No possibility to climb back up, with or without crampons and the tree inside is broken at 1m high so you can't get on it to climb out... I saw it just before I'd fell in, lucky me! Hmm, now that I think of it, it could be the same place...
  13. Not a single weapon, 2 hacksaws, a heavy hammer, some iron I could use to repair 2-3 times, quality tools (2 red boxes), snowpants *3, ski jackets (4 or 5), ski shoes, wool toques, a profusion of clothes (not all hot), repair and ski gloves, sewing kits (5 or 6, can't remember), several bottles of distilled water, if wine counts I'll never be short of grapejuice ! With all the glass I have, I think I could improvise a crude knife. Add to that a climbing rope, crampons, and reclaimed wood in abundance ! 3 bedrolls, 4 lighters with oil, I even have 3 wind-kites from which I can take the lines and combine with the thousand of needles stored here to make a never-ending supply of fish-tackles... Nothing to eat though... I need to think of that ^^ I also got several kg of lead, but don't ask why, you'd need to go behind JMK's locked hatch
  14. Contains spoilers... Found 2 caves on the western side of the map, both up the slopes and with rabbits very near their entrance. The bear which roams up to Final Approach has its own refuge downhill in between those 2 caves, can't really miss it... Also found a shortcut to go back to Transfer Pass : from the Hangar, go south-southeast up to the vista, and then you can go up some more, around and up the chasm that hosts the road by walking on fallen trees, there are even some rabbits up there. Finally climbing down this one-way path, you arrive very near the entry of the zone. So much safer and quicker than going through the road There are still several places I've not clearly seen (blizzards or fog hit easily) : mostly between Drift Island and the rocky eastern walls... except when I stumbled upon a helicopter crashed by a small pond (a lucky refuge actually, could spend the night there). I still don't know if you can go in the northeastern corner of the map: I've seen wolves patrolling there but had not enough time to try and look for a path. For the rest, even though my map is still not fully cleared, I've passed through them. Clearly, this map is huge, and unforgiving if you're stuck in a blizzard and don't have the slightest idea which way you're heading: as said earlier, very few landmarks and short on wind-breaking materials in the main parts. Nevertheless, it's magnificient and fresh, gotta love that feeling of discovery (again!), and as I read in a hidden note in Mindful Cabin, I still haven't found the mine neither
  15. Variants of some tools : my new bow is much better than the usual one I didn't see any other variant yet, but it seems some rifles appeared too.
  16. Why not make us renovate a handcar, which could then be used on the tracks ? Just to travel faster through this region ?
  17. Found a variant of a bow in HRV, won't say where precisely
  18. Definitely, you should: with a clear and proper understanding of project management and how its necessary communication should be, you add to that the capacity to explain why it's done precisely that way. Being in the same kind of business with some experience, I can tell you'll do a great job at that perticular position
  19. For the MH Satchel, don't make a bee-line to where you think it is, just watch for the signal fire. I made the mistake of climbing from Landslide (spawn point in HRV) to Monolith Lake just to watch the signal fire up Many Falls Vista in the morning (the other side)... After another climb and a good nap, I still must walk there to verify the presence of the Satchel near the fire. On the other side, from where I was, I found a cured leather and a note indicating some hidden cache in the cave near the Mysterious Signal Fire (the one up from Many Falls Vista). By the way, this note is, I think, what we should await in the visors
  20. Started in HRV, Voyageur, spawned by the Landslide. Just had time to gather some firewood and a hatchet, then cattails and sticks before starting to freeze, I headed rapidly to the Valley Cave, gathering my first 24 rose hips on the way. The cave held a pair of sports socks in good condition, a worn bedroll, a research book "Stay on Target", 1 recycled can, a 25% tin of sardines, 2 pieces of cedar firewood, 1 piece of coal and 1 Accelerant. Luckily, I spawned with wood matches. After having made my first fire quite easily, I put my whole load of firewood in it, boiling 1l of water and making my first rose hip tea while tearing down the worn bedroll (I spawned with an 82% one). Crafting improvised hand & head wraps, I was back to normal temp and my endurance was still around 75% so I decided to go hunting some rabbits before heading up, to the Satchel presumably. Alas, no rabbit in sight on the other side of the trunk... saw some does but hunting them with stones is hardly a good method I then decided to climb the first rope, while the wind started to gain in strength. Arriving at the middle vista, I had to stop for the night, endurance was nearing 0. Still, I cut open the way to the next rope, along with the 2 fir limbs, gathered the sticks, rose hips, and old man's beards, made a fire where I could be protected, putting as much wood as I could, and slept for 7h. The last of the fire was spent boiling some water and making 2 rose hip teas, gulping one and heading for the second rope to Pensive Vista. I made a straight line for the ice cave, freezing and losing some life to the cold but still gathering sticks, rose hips and cattails. After a nap in the cave, gulping another hot tea, I made my way to the mysterious signal fire and discovered that ... it was not here ! In fact, a cured leather and an enigmatic note pointing to the other mysterious signal fire's cave was all there was! Navigating in heavy fog and near blizzard, I should have waited before heading up, but old habits... I still have to finish climbing up there, and walk to verify if the Satchel is still where it was, but now the wolves should also be around, so things will get a bit more complex, but it was a good start, and the loot table is definitely different than before ! Great Bear is again for us to explore, and that is just wonderful !
  21. This is so true, don't forget about it y'all! Even if you feel you lost some of the isolation feeling and the scarcity of ressource, give HTL the benefit of doubt on this particular feature. I see much rant in here, and I actually wonder why: we've never been let down by the TLD-makers & lovers, why should we now? We'll see whatever comes our way in less than a week, so I suggest we postpone that discussion after having seen that trader feature in game...
  22. Now, I'm really REALLY eager to play this totally new game which looks totally awesome!
  23. If I remember it correctly, caves (places with only 1 entrance and no transition) don't cause cabin fever, but grottos do. If there's a transition zone, like the one next to Trapper's, then you can get cabin fever because you're not in the open. This is as far as I understand it. The strangest thing about all of this is: I never got cabin fever
  24. Really REALLY eager to know more about this Far Territory and its whereabouts!
