  1. I plan to start a new run in Milton, quickly get the Satchel, head ASAP to got the Technical Backpack and go get the best possible clothing at the Summit. Considering that I should already have several plants/cured pelts/cured elm & birch saplings/etc... as well as most if not all tools in stock, then I'll head to the Airfield. Dunno the mode yet : might be Pilgrim just to be swift in the "prep" phase...
  2. Actually, I just played again "Nomad" to show my kids, with 1 simple condition added : if a location is already "done" (3 full days spent), you MUST leave immediately and get to the next location in less than 12h. That made me leave the Dam much earlier than the 3 days-period to get to all the Mistery Lake locations, so that when I come back I could sleep in before running to Signal Hill. Running in a blizzard to Skeeter's Ridge was hot. The climb to Mountaineer's Hut was ok, not as tough as the run for Cinder Hills Mine during a nice blizzard (wind in my back, luckily). Typical PV weather... Nevertheless, that condition alone, as curious as it sounds, made me almost run into a bear when I had to get from the Quonset Garage to the Abandoned Harris Home and a heavy fog descended very suddenly just after I got the chance to bugger off the wolves in-between the Garage and the waterfront Cottages. Ok, I had a rifle, but with a competence still at 1, let's say I got a good mauling instead of hitting critically the damn bear (and believe me, I tried very hard to hit the head). As Nomad is set in Voyageur difficulty, I was about 40% life, had a good laugh, managed to escape the bear and moved on to Crumbling Highway... but it hit the spot nonetheless : that's when you think you're safe that you get yourself into trouble, the biggest lesson of all in TLD. Just for that, Nomad is as good as another, only much easier to finish.
  3. Said in another post: - the Cave Across the Bridges, in AC the cave found by going from Miner's Folly to High Meadow. - also in AC, the Shattered Cave can be found uphill from the Shattered Cove. - the spawn points at Mountaineer's Hut and Landing Gear: The Goblin Starts.
  4. I'm so excited! And I just can't hide it. These are marvelous news, thank you so much Raph and all of you at Hinterland !
  5. Actually, I meant it that way: From Grey Mother 's Mansion, the moose satchel is a 24h-run, give or take a few hours. I agree that I wasn't very clear, cabin fever may have hit me earlier I was first talking about spawning in TWM : it's the fastest way to the best loot in the game, and that puts you way ahead of the "curve" ! In a few days, you can get your grubby little goblin hands on the sacred backpack and holy pair of crampons, with good clothing, a good set of tools, a rifle, a bow, ammo/arrows, and a revolver (+ a fisherman sweat with luck) if you push for a 4th day in AC and pass the bear around Miner's Folly (while you're still at it, why not?). Then you're set for TWM Summit and the best possible clothing (except the crafted one). Let's say you take your time, in 15 to 20 days, you're set for all but the harshest cold. Even with predators lurking around every corner, it might be the safest path. Your only real problem is : will you find the starting matches? But even these are quite easy to find nearby (except for interlopers). Of course, if you spawn "uphill", it's not the same story at all and the start may well become the end rapidly ^^ By the way, I named the spawn points at Mountaineer's Hut and Landing Gear: The Goblin Starts 😁 Spawning in AC is another story altogether: since you're a long way from decent clothing, you will have to rely on whatever you find and hunt, and a very good shelter. Angler's Den, Foreman's Retreat, and the Gold Mine are your best opportunities, the Den being the best of the 3. If you have a bedroll and a hatchet, you can add Climber's Cave, Shattered Cave (Unnamed, the cave up Shattered Cove), and the "Cave across the bridges" between High Meadow and Miner's Folly (another unnamed place). In short, at high difficulties AC is a trial and certainly not your standard start, but then you're set for TWM Summit !
  6. Worst zone : Bleak Inlet. Best zone : pick yours! I find TWM a very nice zone, of course you don't have direct access to the Satchel (a 24h-run in HRV approx.) but you can go and get those crampons & technical backpack quite easily (2-days run if you visit Homesteader's Respite to get that revolver, less if you don't). First you'll need to go to PV: the Crashed Plane to get some decent clothing and the Abandonned Prepper Cache for some tools. If you do that in the first 24h, you can escape predators and visit Skeeter's Ridge (the basement may hold some useful things) and Burned Ridge Cave. Plus there are 2 Moose spawns not far from Mountaineer's! HRV is also a very nice zone, and the fact that you can plunder a whole town before going for the Satchel is a clear must. BR I like it too, unlike so many: the Lodge holds so many treasures! Gauntlets and rifle, plenty of rabbits around, wood inside for a few days, and actually my first sight of a Moose was there! These are good for me
  7. It seems a practical thing to use the blood from the kills, and it goes well with one of the spirits of the game : re-use as much as possible. But for this, you'll need to hang high your kill so it can bleed fully, which means either carrying it home where you can have the materials to do so or hanging it to a tree (use of ropes are highly suggested), using pots to keep the blood. If you hang it to a tree, you're sure to lure all of the nearby predators to it. Nothing's easy, nothing's free. Using the blood as a base for some kind of revigorating soup or tea seems a bloody good idea in itself (pun intended), but you'll have to cook it or face the parasites, just like raw meat but with a much higher percentage. Seems possible, but might be complex to implement correctly...
  8. I don't know such places... 😉
  9. Never noticed a difference from walking sideways, except that I'm dying a bit more easily... 🤪 To be fair, I'm a huge fan of the crampons and what they permit us to do: going downhill has never been so easy, even overburdened ! Yes, carrying down from TWM Summit all those lanterns, hatchets, knives, hammers and the occasionnal rifle along whatever food and clothes you found has never been so delightful ! But walking sideways has its own limits : bumping into a bear during a heavy snowfall is one (sounds are muffled and you make some yourself), falling off a cliff is another one...
  10. The weather factors in juste like in any other way : if you're overburdened or not, walking with the wind at whatever angle between 0° and 90° gives the same % malus. So, yes, it stacks. Same goes for the feats. By the way, I was asking myself recently if having the wind blowing in an angle between 90° (left or right) and 180° (your back) gives you any % bonus. Anyone know ? Asking for a goblin friend of mine 😁
  11. Might be that too, I don't pay too much attention to those icons anymore...
  12. Actually, the maths are a bit more specific, or it seems to me, even if it is indeed quite linear : You have to take into account your maximum weight capacity without encumberance. If you have a max at 45 kg (well-fed and the moose satchel), your speed will go down first at 45kg, second at 50kg, third at 55kg, then even more at 60kg, again more at 65kg, then finally at 70kg you won't be able to move. Pay attention that your endurance plays a role too : between 100% and 50%, no malus, but between 50% and 0% the malus will grow in a scalable way (much the same kind)... I said it's quite linear, because it's not exactly linear but ressembles more to stairs : at 49,9kg, you'll have the same speed that when you carry 45kg. The speed reduction kicks in when you reach the next 5kg-limit. Also, if I'm correct, if you carry less than half your max capacity (here 22,5kg), your speed is at your max. Ever seen that green light icon in the bottom right of your inventory and wondered what it meant? Even though I don't see it anymore usually (loot-goblin here too)... Numbers and figures... Hope this clears it up a bit too ^^
  13. Light fog during sunset goes so well with the eerie atmosphere of this fabulous game !
