  1. Come to think of it, the radio could have the same effect. If you have cabin fever during an Aurora, turning on Glenn Gould on the radio should have a mitigating effect perhaps?
  2. I prefer to play Astrid. MacKenzie's constant panting makes me feel like there is an adult film going on.
  3. I live in Norway, now, I don't keep my rifle in my garage, that would break our gun laws. However, for the sake of argument, lets say I did. That would leave a 6.5x55 rifle, fishing tackle, plenty of firewood, quality tools, combat pants (actually my chainsaw pants) and a fridge with soda cans (beer). I keep my axes and knives in my tool room in the basement, as well as my various sharpening stones.
  4. In my game, he spawns on that rock, either sleeps or walk around in circles on the rock. I've tried various ways to get him to attack me, throwing stones, flare gun, revolver and rifle, but he can't get off the rock. It seems broken.
  5. The reference must be from Lord of the Rings? The gift from Galadriel?
  6. That sounds like a real find. I've not found yet, though I've lived the last 30 days in FA, and I suspect I've looted it all by now.
  7. I very much agree with this. It gives a completely different feeling to wake up in the morning and have a quick glance out the window to check on the weather. I hope we'll have more of this in the future. Had I only had a workbench in the island cabin, it would nigh on been my favourite haunt in the game. Great view over the vast lake, whenever the fog isn't around that is!
  8. Have you enabled it in Options? It is disabled by default. I had to re-enable it after the update.
  9. My issue was resolved with updating to the Nvidia 527.37 driver.
  10. I am stuck at the "Disclaimer" "Loading". The game does not load. This is a steam install and I have Wintermute and the Tales from the Far Territory in the library. I've tried to reinstall the game three times, but it still get stuck at "Loading". Verifying the game files does not seem to help. The strange thing is that the DLCs are still listed as possible to buy, even though I have bought them? I even double checked Pay Pal to be sure the sum had been withdrawn, which it had.
  11. I have an old Voyageur run, it never spawned there, and the fix didn't fix it. Been fine with new runs.
  12. One thing you might find helpful, if you haven't done already, is to change the struggle input to push and hold, rather than the carpal tunnel inducing quick clicks. At least I found that helpful. I'm 50 days into my first interloper run, and I must say I do not miss the crazy amount of wolves on stalker. I do find the lack of loot somewhat depressing. Somehow, I think my preferred mix now is a custom game with interloper everything, but with guns and stalker loot. I plan to soldier on to 100 days on interloper, and then see if I want to keep going with it. Best of luck on your run
  13. I got an xbox x for the kids, ahem, last Christmas. As I finished Firewatch, The Long Dark was suggested as a game I might like. I had never heard of it. Fast forward to today and it has been my main game since december 2021. Now, I got TLD as part of Game Pass, I suspect Hinterland do not get much money from that, and measured in hours of gameplay vs cost, this must have been one of my best "buys" since I first started gaming in the early 80s. People are in different circumstances in life, many are surely feeling the cost of living crisis in recent times. For my part, I find it reasonable to either pay for the DLCs or a "season pass", as long as the game is being supported and developed. So far it has been a marvellous journey, and I hope the game will go from strength to strength.
  14. The more I think of it, I think simple fishing holes would make fishing more accessible, without making it unbalancing. The weather would act as a check to the ability to fish. At the same time, it would give you more to do when you are in remote places like Lake Monolith.
  15. It is called Nordlys in Norwegian - ie Northern Lights in English. Aurora is of Latin origin one would think, or perhaps Greek? I would imagine Northern Lights is from Old English, and probably originally from the proto Germanic language that all Germanic languages springs from. Must admit I'm curious on that game, but TLD has set a mighty high bar.
  16. I don't think such a hole would be unbalancing. On the higher difficulties you'll get cold rapidly, and on easier difficulty a change in the weather would rapidly force you to abort your fishing. My main argument is immersion. It seems odd to be on a lake without being able to fish.
  17. Actually, another area where such a hole could be suitable is in Milton Basin. The big lake there make you want to go fishing!
  18. I must admit I had hoped for the "big thing". This game is absolutely brilliant, and I can't wait till the next update. I came late to the game, and I can understand if oldtimers are more impatient, but this has to be one of the best games ever made.
  19. HRV is my favourite zone in the game. It has no man built structures, and you feel disconnected from the rest of the world. My favourite place in the zone is the area around Monolith Lake. The only thing I wish we had access to here was fishing. I would not want a hut, as that would break the theme with no human built structures, but could we have a fishing hole? I don't know if it is technically feasible, but it would fit with the harvesting from nature theme. With no hut or oven it would not be overpowered. Ideally, in the future it would be nice if we could hack a hole in the ice. Fishing could perhaps need an overhaul in general. Thank you for a fantastic game!
  20. I would have loved to see more animals added, Beavers? Ptarmigans? Artic Fox? Seals? Whales?
  21. I think it works alright at present, as Leeanda says, you can always pass an hour to save. That being said, considering the extensive custom options in difficulty, perhaps there could be a section with saving options.
