  1. ohhh, pancakes! those look good enough to eat!
  2. Back to OP's post about exploration and discovery, I remember my uncle telling me about strategy guides they used to buy in order to get all the loot and find all the hidden treasures when they played video games. Of course that was almost 40 years ago now. But I kinda wish it was still that way. I typically don't watch playthroughs on YouTube as I'd rather be playing, but I do enjoy watching savvy players exploit glitches and bugs in their game so as to get every possible advantage to improve their odds of winning. But, when it comes down to exploration and learning my way around a map, nothing is better than actually playing the game and getting in the screen time. So, Kudos @I_eat_only_wolf_meat when you say "To me, the exploration is a large part of what I'm paying for. Well-designed maps with a wealth of secrets to discover."
  3. In my best "Conehead" voice; "Death to all blunt skulls who fail to gnarfl The Garthock!"
  4. I was once standing on the enclosed porch of the farmhouse in PV when off in the distance I saw the bear slowly walking thru the orchard towards Molly's barn. I opened the door and decided to take a shot. It was definitely a long distance shot and as luck would have it I ended up hitting the bear right in the butt!
  5. I actually used his crushed chips idea to make a Chip Crusted Chicken dish the other day. I didn't have any ketchup chips so I used some Dill Pickle Pringles flavored chips. I smashed the chips up pretty good and dipped the chicken breasts in a milk and egg mixture and then rolled them in crushed chips before dropping them into a hot oil filled skillet. I paired it with a fine IPA from local brew pub. All I can say is delicious!
  6. Outstanding! I haven't played in a while so this is something I'm definitely gonna check out! Lighting a bunch of fires isn't necessarily difficult if you pull out a torch each time to start a new fire.
  7. wait a minute?!? are you saying that meat does not decay at all if you place back on the slot after cooking or are you saying that you time things perfectly to allow the fire to die out before the food is burnt beyond recognition and if not picked up it does not decay at all? If either scenario actually works then you have single handedly solved the age old mysteries of extended cooked meat storage! Somehow I am skeptical of your claim. No offense intended but given the communities intense debate over cooked food storage, I am wondering why this has never come up as a strategy to indefinitely store food. I have more questions now, like inside vs outside? fireplace or firebarrel? campfire vs stove?
  8. Lol, I'm my own worst enemy. I should probably quite drinking beer when I play TLD. Beer makes me bold! Bold makes me hunt bears naked! Bears brutalize naked man, take beer and make naked man bleed. Too late... You have faded into the long dark!
  9. When out on the roof there arose such a clatter, I sprang to my feet to see what was the matter. Away from my chair I flew like a flash, tore open the door, bolted and dashed! When, what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a roof full of mooses not one single deer! I whistled and shouted and called them by name: “Now Dasher! Now Dancer! Now, Prancer and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen! To the top of the prison and over of the wall! Now dash away! Dash away! Dash away all!” And that children is the story of how ole' Uncle DiscoJonny got out of prison!
  10. Is this somewhere in Ash Canyon? I'm curious now if this is a spot where this happens frequently happens?
  11. Lol, another great story photo chronicled for our amusement! How heavy was that old wooden box anyways? on a side note, I'm looking forward to reading about how you kick that bear's ass after you get all healed up!
  12. Where exactly does the hammer spawn in Coastal Highway? I don't think I've ever heard of the hammer spawning in Raven's Ravine either. Where exactly does it appear? Might just come in handy next time I launch a new loper game, you know?
  13. Considering that you cannot control where you spawn and that a player usually finds the heavy hammer in ML on Interloper difficulty, it just makes more sense to use the forge at Spence's in FM once you've acquired the requisite tool(s) than to travel all the way to DP once you have acquired the hammer. I'd say the opposite is true if you play stalker or the lesser difficulty settings, why not just spawn into DP where you will find all the tools and then can immediately get started forging. Nothing better to insure survival early on than being able to control your spawn point and make it happen with a conveniently placed forge nearby!
  14. A very devout cartographer lost his favorite Bible while he was mapping the terrain way out in the back country. Three weeks later, a huge bear walked up to him carrying the Bible in its mouth. The cartographer couldn't believe his eyes. He gently took the precious book out of the bear's mouth, raised his eyes heavenward and exclaimed, "It's a miracle!" "Not really," said the bear. "Your name is written inside the cover."
  15. So a hunter gets a new gun one day and decides to go hunting with it. He goes out into the woods and stumbles upon a nice-sized black bear, so he takes his gun and shoots. As the air clears from smoke, the man looks around and notices the bear is gone. A moment later, he feels a tap on this shoulder so he turns around and sees this huge black bear and the bear says, "You tried to kill me! So the way I see it you got two options, either you submit to having rough sex or I maul you to death." Now, the hunter doesn't want to die so he lets the bear have his way, and afterwards he waddles home and doesn't tell anyone. A year goes by and the hunter is still stewing about this last outing. Getting angrier and angrier, the hunter grabs his rifle and hunter goes back into the woods and stumbles upon the big black bear. He aims his gun and shoots! As the air clears from the gun smoke, the man looks around and notices the bear is gone. Again, he feels a tapping on his shoulder. The man turns around and sees the bear who says, "Again you tried to kill me! So the way I see it you got two options, either you submit to having rough sex or I maul you to death." Again, the man doesn't want to die so he lets the bear have his way with him and in shame waddles home not telling anyone. Next year comes around and the man still angry about his last two experiences hunting, goes out and buys the biggest gun he could afford. Confident now that he's armed to the teeth, the man goes out to kill the bear. He sees the bear, takes aim and fires! As the gun smoke clears from the air, the man looks around and notices the bear is gone. A moment later, he feels a tap on this shoulder. The man turns around and the bear says, "Let's be honest, you don't come here for the hunting, do you?"
  16. @Tradus maybe you should look to the modding comunity to help with making a better translator mod? seems to me that some of the new mods are by Russian authors? They may just be the people with the technical know how and regional dialectic understanding of the language to really improve and correct this issue you have been having. I suspect that Hinterland relies heavily on Google Translate and that in itself is probably part of the problem. There's a prominent YouTuber who takes popular song lyrics and then runs them thru Google Translate and them back again before signing those songs with the "translated" lyrics. It is funny and very entertaining but really points out the inadequacies of the translation algorythm. Good Luck my friend, your struggle is real! English to Russian using Google Translate Eto mogut byt' prosto lyudi s tekhnicheskimi nou-khau i regional'nym dialekticheskim ponimaniyem yazyka, chtoby deystvitel'no uluchshit' i ispravit' etu problemu, s kotoroy vy stolknulis'. YA podozrevayu, chto Hinterland v znachitel'noy stepeni polagayetsya na Google Translate, i eto samo po sebe, veroyatno, yavlyayetsya chast'yu problemy. Yest' izvestnyy yutuber, kotoryy beret teksty populyarnykh pesen, a zatem zapuskayet ikh cherez Google Translate i obratno, prezhde chem podpisat' eti pesni s pomoshch'yu "perevedennyye" teksty. Eto smeshno i ochen' zanimatel'no, no deystvitel'no ukazyvayet na nedostatki algoritma perevoda. Udachi, drug moy, tvoya bor'ba real'na!
  17. looks like they've got each others back! Astrid should probably work on her trigger finger discipline? When I play her in my game, she is an excellent shot! Hardly ever wastes a round. She looks quite determined in this drawing you've made. Nicely done!
  18. I watched this movie back when it came out. I had already been playing TLD for a couple of years so the idea of watching a guy struggle surviving in the Arctic after a plane crash kinda felt familiar. The one thing that I came away with is the tenacity of the protagonist to survive. You can imagine the effort it took to carve his SOS out of the snow and rock and keep it exposed by repeatedly having to uncover the ground in order to keep it visible. Dealing with freezing cold, limited supplies, frost bitten limbs and dwindling hope. His hopes raised by the appearance of possible rescue only to be crushed when the helicopter crashes! Then finding another survivor he realizes he is no longer alone! He puts all his efforts into saving her for the remainder of the film. I remember this movie being an emotional roller coaster in that from one moment to the next I was elated and defeated, anxious then sad. His commitment to saving the girl is what kept him going against all odds. I think the ending was well done, the viewer never actually knows what happened, did the rescue come in time? Did they both survive? I want to think, they both made it home...
  19. WTF?!? This sounds like you were the star of a pyschological horror film! Maybe you should layoff from eating my microwaved pizza, cookies and cheap vodka jello shots before going to bed!
  20. yeah, it's usually zombified vampires or something and they just keep getting closer and closer and closer! I gotta layoff the microwave pizza, chocolate chip cookies and cheap vodka jello shots before bed...
  21. ha ha ha, I'm just messing with you! and yes, good ole Mr. Freud would have some interesting interpetation, wouldn't he? what would he say about your feelings of guilt? lol
