  1. I'd be thrilled if we could start fires with the sparking wires during the aurora. Maybe with some risk of getting burned in the process as a means of balancing it. And the car cigarette lighters should work during the aurora as well.
  2. Recently (post- Frontier Comforts) I killed fluffy in the Bleak Inlet cannery. Her body seemed to sink into the floor and I couldn't get my arrow, I saved the game by leaving and re-entering the workshop. When I came back to the game (next real life day I think), Fluffy was alive and back in action when I spawned back into the workshop. Anyone else encounter a resurrected Fluffy?
  3. Maybe I'm imagining it, but the aurora timberwolf howl now sounds utterly terrifying. Has it always been like this? Normally I'm safely in bed if I'm in Timberwolf territory when the aurora hits.
  4. I'm on day 130-ish of my interloper run, and I have found exactly two flare guns and three shells. I've used two. One on a charging bear and another on a moose. That one flare shell is looking pretty lonely in my backpack.
  5. I don't know if it's different on console, but on Steam it's sufficient to simply walk straight ahead and let the bridge sway without changing course at all. You'll rarely be centered, but I've done it this way hundreds of times and not fallen off.
  6. I recently came across the key for the Memento Cache in Mystery Lake, the one in the cave near the Lake Overlook. I trudged up there with key in hand and a gleam in my eye, eagerly awaiting my new loot. What will it be? Some flares? a candy bar? Nope. It was literally nothing. Empty container. I know I hadn't looted it before because I watched the unlock animation. Now I know low loot levels are a key part of interloper play, but for heaven's sake, give me a cattail stalk or a ragged sport sock. Anything to justify the effort of finding the key and trudging up there again. I don't know if this is a bug or intentional, but either way it's not good.
  7. Maybe try placing your bedroll on the other side of the bear and sleeping for an hour?
  8. Oh, no. I meant the gap in the cliff road at Whealey's Turn (?) Not sure if that's what its name is.
  9. That broken up road on the way to Forsaken Airfield seems like it's even easier to charge over the edge in the middle of a blizzard.
  10. Very clever. I hope it makes a comeback, as this is the least cheesy "cheese" that I can think of.
  11. I killed as many wolves as possible during the day, and wore two bear coats. It's easier if the aurora happens in the early evening because of the temps, but you can still do it early morning. Just have a good coal fire burning where it's out of the wind in the local area where you're exploring. That way you can retreat if you get too cold or wolves come. A nice cave as a local temporary base is even better. I found one of the abandoned prepper caches in HRV, and the loot inside was a can of ruined corn and a sewing kit. It made me lol. So OP.
  12. I want that bear paw rug they have in the camp office.
  13. I have found a revolver in Interloper, though not much ammunition. I think my revolver skill is maybe level three just by reading the books. I've never fired a shot.
  14. Did you mean Stranded; Alien Dawn? It does look interesting. I wish it was multiplayer (and I wish the same for The Long Dark some day).
  15. Nothing wrong with that. Divinity is a great game. So is Project Zomboid, if you're out there looking.
  16. Interestingly, the hunting knife is already in interloper. Very rare, but it's out there. Out of all the "contraband" items Hinterland added, it makes the most impact.
  17. I do kind of miss making runs to the milling machines. What you're suggesting, though, is really only useful for decorating your base. Guns are not sufficiently powerful compared to the bow, and they're so heavy that it would really just be an addon for atmosphere. I have a revolver in in my interloper run right now along with 20-something rounds of .38 special, and it just sits on a shelf.
  18. This is from a while back. Vanilla interloper, and Pleasant Valley of course. This resulted in my death, I think, as I got stuck in the fishing hut and it lasted a very long time. I probably could have made it to the Forest Cave even with the blizzard visibility, but I forgot it was so close.
  19. That's true. If the aurora comes up at a time in the early morning when it's too cold, you just have to give up and wait for the next opportunity. You just can't be juggling a bow, torch, and radio while freezing to death and running from wolves.
  20. I can't believe I just found a full box of matches on interloper. Needless to say this changes things a bit. Not saying it's bad, necessarily.
  21. So I've started dipping my toes into the Tales content as an interloper and it is just as the devs said: very difficult. I have no idea where any of the new content is (by preference), so I'm staggering around in the middle of the night with the shortwave in my hand, absolutely freezing to death because, well, it's late at night. To make matters worse, I have the shortwave in my hand rather than my bow, and so it's that much more difficult to fight the aurora wildlife. I've had more wolf struggles (three) in one in-game day than I've had in the previous two hundred. I've concluded that, at a minimum, all the wolves in a zone need to be terminated before I go stumbling around at night with a radio. Preferably with double bear coats. Anyway, thank you devs. I'll be freezing my butt off and bleeding to death, and loving every second of it.
