  1. Thank you for the amazing intelligent and articulate post. The well thought, detailed ideas that you have presented certainly are interesting. I very much look forward towards seeing what Hinterland will have to offer post TLD.
  2. Crazy as it sounds, I like FM. I stay around the perimeter avoiding the ice and railway track. I feel pretty safe in FM. I feel the same about PV now that I know it inside and out. Probably CH would be my fav area, I feel reasonably safe there and I know the map very well. HRV was my nemesis... I know it better now but I'm not in any hurry to go back there. Between the weather and the different heights of areas I'm just not crazy about HRV - lot's of bad memories too lol.
  3. Thank you for the update and for this great game! I filled out the survey, I hope that helps. If I were to ask for one thing with the existing game, it would be for smoother, more natural animal animations - in particular the animations of the animals changing movement direction. A second thing would be that it would be nice (more immersive) to not have the transition screen when entering a building but I'm guessing that wouldn't be easy or perhaps even possible in the current game. Let me preface this by stating that I love the unique art style of TLD. Having said that, I have to admit that I have pondered what a version of TLD (TLD 2) would be like with a realistic art style made with UE4 or whatever engine, the thought of that makes me drool a bit lol. Thank you again and cheers!
  4. Great work guys! This is a very cordial and helpful community
  5. What platform are you on? PC I assume? Are you saying that you have reached the 25 save slot maximum and cannot save a new game? If you are on PC, you can manually backup any saves which are saved to: C:(or whatever drive you have windows installed on)\Users\your windows user name\AppData\Local\Hinterland To restore a manually backed up save you would have to ensure that you have an open save slot in game (under 25 saves). That's my take on it anyhow. Good luck and have fun.
  6. I notice that often when I have trapped a rabbit and I put my cursor over the rabbit to pick it up I have to float my cursor around until I find the "hitbox" area where I can interact (take, move) the rabbit and this area is usually a distance away from the rabbit. It seems worse when the rabbit trap is on a slope but does occur on flat ground also. It would be so much easier and more intuitive to just put the cursor over the rabbit and to be able to interact with it. Nothing major, just thought that I'd mention it. Has anyone else experienced this?
  7. HRV was my nemesis, I got so lost there multiple times and almost died so may times. I hated that area the first 10 hours of exploring and surveying it. Then the map clicked with me, I could find my way pretty decently and I liked the area even after getting destroyed by a moose while lost in a blizzard in a valley that I couldn't get out of (but I did finally get out of the valley when it occurred to me to use the 1 stim that I had on me to get up the damn rope and head to my home cave! I think that CH is my fav area, I know it inside and out.
  8. Day 222 voyageur run. Working on the Faithful Cartographer achievement (about 95% done at this time) and the live 500 days in survival mode achievement. After a day of surveying and hunting in Bleak Inlet I headed back to my cave in a blizzard. On the way I fell through the ice... twice. I made it back to the cave, dropped all my clothes beside the fire and warmed up as my clothes dried. All my clothes were dried except my mitts and I put all my clothes on except the mitts which I left to dry. I cooked some food and water, sewed some torn clothing and saw that my mitts were dry so I picked them up. I finished what I was doing and went to sleep in my bedroll. I woke up in the morning refreshed and ready to go only to discover that I had picked up my mitts but had forgot to put them on. I had frostbite on my hand and a permanent 15% reduction in health. (insert swearing here). Such a stupid mistake. Ah well, I'm now on about day 270 and got my FC achievement, made a ton of ammo and am working on living 500 days. Having the 15% reduction of health hurts but I think that I will make this, just have to be careful.
  9. Good to know, thank you. It still would be nice to have the steam popup location moved. Cheers
  10. I'm guilty of watching youtube videos on cat tails just because of this game lol.
  11. Problem: The Steam in game notification popup is positioned at the bottom right corner of the screen. Right over TLD Cancel button. It hasn't cost me a life yet, (unable to cancel action upon hearing a predator close by), but it has been problematic. Steam users used to be able to reposition (globally), the Steam notification popup with a minor tweak to the style template, that has not been the case in some time. Steam says that game devs are the only ones that can reposition the in game Steam notification popup. If this is indeed that case, could TLD devs please look at relocating the Steam notification popup? Any corner except the current bottom right corner would be fine by me. Cheers
  12. Works 100% of the time as long as you don't let the wolf get close enough to start the animation.
  13. You actually found something behind a visor!? I thought the visors were like the fuel doors in that nothing is ever found behind them?
  14. The bow is The Bomb for killing (normal) wolves. Let wolf get very close, arrow to the huge target of a face, profit.
  15. After seeing this I'm making save backups. Thank you for the bat file code AdamvR.
  16. Are you playing in 4K by any chance?
  17. i7 2600 @3400 (i know, it's old), GTX 1660 ti OC 6 gig, 16 gigs ram, Creative Labs Soundblaster Titanium TLD is installed on an SSD. Ultra settings, 1080p @ 120hz high of 120 fps, low of 90. The game plays buttery smooth for me. OP, what resolution are you playing at and what settings? 40 fps seems awfully low.
  18. Thank you sir! I was a little freaked out during this encounter, the pathing of the bear was so weird! I thought for sure that I was going to get mauled when the bear first came up on the rock! I've got a new tactic for (normal) wolves, I let them get very close and let fly with an arrow to their face, 100% success rate so far and I'm loving it - no more wasting bullets!
  19. Just keep plugging away, you'll do it. Once you are past the bear it's not as tedious. It's worth it, story mode is fun. As for animals in the game, I would suggest learning how avoid them (looking off wolves to make them change direction, using thrown stones, using a stim to run like hell), and specially learning how to kill them before you are attacked, it adds a lot to the game never knowing when you may be attacked. The bow is a really good weapon. I recently learned a technique with the bow that has had a 100% success rate thus far in killing every (normal) wolf that came at me. Question, how do you create a spoiler in a post here? I tried the usual bbcode but it didn't work.
  20. When you see this and think shit the animals are going to be aggressive!
  21. I laughed... after having almost crapped my pants!
