  1. For what it's worth: I7 2600, GTX 1660 ti OC 6 gig, 16 gigs ram - game settings ultra and I get a steady 100 fps no fps drops or slow downs.
  2. I am self isolating (doctors orders - I've got an immune disorder) in a northern rural area in Canada (Manitoba) in a very small cabin on Lake Winnipeg with no plumbing and only wood heat as I play my fav game The Long Dark. The irony isn't lost on me! Anyhow, here is a pic from last week of an aurora event from here, just thought I would share. edit: added a video of the aurora aurora2021.mp4
  3. Yes thank you. I searched quite thoroughly in the snow where I had dropped the lead but no luck Cheers
  4. I actually just noticed yesterday that sometimes when I load the rifle it spits out an unfired bullet! I wonder how many bullets I've lost not noticing that before!
  5. Wait what?? That's not how herbal tea works!? Color me embarrassed that's how I've been using it. How does it work and thanks! I didn't know that the flashlight had an extra bright mode that holds animals back until I accidentally discovered this!
  6. I'll try and be brief as possible. I was moving from Mountain Town to Mystery Lake after having cleaned out and mapped HRV and MT. I had a lot of stuff to move down the rope at MT and up the other rope at MT to the path to ML. It took several trips and a couple of days to store all of my stuff at the top of the rope leading to the path to ML. Included in this stuff was 48 pieces of lead that I had harvested in MT from 8 cars - it was a lot of work getting this lead together. So I carry my last load up the rope to where my stash was on the path to ML from MT and after dropping the stuff I started choosing items to transport to ML first - I wanted to first move the lead to a rock cache that I had built in the rail tunnel from ML to FM. The pile of lead on the ground that I had left the day before was gone. No where to be found. All the other many piles were still there near the rope that I had just climbed. I checked everywhere, doubling back but I knew without a doubt that on my first trip moving gear that I had moved the 48 pieces of lead. Is it possible for something like this to just vanish? This is a first for me. I had built 3 rock caches for this move but didn't think that I needed one at that spot. Any thoughts on what may have happened to my hard worked for lead would be appreciated. For what it's worth, on about day 155, default Voyageur settings. Thanks and cheers.
  7. In my opinion the sight on the revolver and the rifle needs to be made twice as narrow as it is now, way too thick.
  8. It would be nice to have a natural stimulant to boost energy like the energy drink and emergency stim.
  9. A travois that one could craft and use when moving from one area to another would be very cool. Perhaps one could move say 140 pounds of stuff between what you can hold in your backpack and the travois but you would move slowly as a penalty so the travois would only be used when moving to a new area. Currently when I move to a new area generally that involves building a rock cache and multiple trips to get all the gear to the new area. It's just a thought.
  10. Great job and story Stinky socks! I haven't been to BI yet... I'm stuck in Hushed River Valley (first time there) with 3 broken ribs, no bedroll on me and no way to get up the rope I need to get up to slink back to my home cave and recover. This did not go well, not sure how I'm going to survive. Cheers man!
  11. Very cool! Thank you for the reply Bean! Good luck and have fun!
  12. Agreed 100%, great game although I'm finding my first foray into Hushed River Valley quite challenging and confusing. I've been lost more often than knowing where I'm going but I will figure out this map yet! Cheers
  13. So on occasion I've had the game open on the menu screen for some period of time and of course have noticed the wolf, bear and rabbit going in and out of frame. I've also noticed the time of day and weather change (well, I've seen it get foggy). I'm wondering if you left the menu screen open long enough if a aurora event would occur? Not important, just wondering. Cheers
  14. You probably know this and if so I apologize for being redundant but you can throw rocks to get a wolf to go in another direction. Also, you can "look off" a wolf to change its direction of travel - look at the wolf and look away, now look back at the wolf and it will be going a different direction. Cheers and have fun!
  15. There are a few fisherman in the area, by that I mean people that ice fish with nets (a brutal job), and a couple trappers here. It is perfect for that here on Lake Winnipeg! An abundance of wildlife and very few people. I miss my "real life" but I'm sure after the pandemic is over I will miss certain aspects of this life! Cheers Winterfox!
  16. The title says it all. What an awesome game. Ironically, I am self-isolating (doctors orders, I have an immune disorder), in a rural area of Canada in a small cabin (under 400 sqft), that has no plumbing and only wood heat (woodstove). I'm very near a very large fresh water lake (frozen of course). Hell I didn't even have an electrical hookup until December 29th. Just me and my little cat. So I am kind of living a Long Dark life in real life to some degree. There are LOT's of deer and rabbits here, the bears are hibernating. Wolves are nearby (about 5k away) but there are several large packs of coyotes very nearby. The -30 to -40 weather lately has been challenging but warmer weather is on the way. Fyi, my internet access is tethering my phone to my PC, I just have to watch data consumption even though I bumped my plan up to 100 gigs. Thank goodness for this game, it's been a great diversion. Good luck and have fun survivors!!
  17. Yup. I ended a 168 day great Voyageur run by falling through at the broken rails. That was just about a week ago. I was very sad, no save backup. I almost had all locations mapped out for the achievement, I almost had all skills up to level 5 for the achievement.Had my rabbit skin hat and mitts, bear skin bedroll, wolf coat and I had both the crampons and the new backpack. Oh, I also had the moose hide bag. Very sad. I was crossing the broken rail section and got stuck, couldn't move forward or sideways so I took 1 step back and plummeted to my death. In all honesty I reached for Alt + F4 and missed the right keys before I died. Very sad. Oh well, lesson learned! Now I'm on about day 60 and am working towards the achievements again. Love this game even when I do dumb things!
