  1. I've always wanted to make a base up on the Summit of TWM. It be cool to glass in the open portion of the fuselage and build a proper house around the outside of the tail section, incorportating the wreckage into a functional bit of living space. It might be a bit a stretch to constantly have to climb that rope, but then again, just imagine how buff you'd be and howbig your biceps would be after doing all those pullups!
  2. lol, machine guns in Skyrim! I guess those RavenHags are a lot tougher than they look? ratattata
  3. @Hawk's info is pretty solid so you've got a great starting point to find the elusive prepper's caches on Mystery Lake. That being said, the four easiest locations to quickly check would be the weapons bunker which only spawns near Camp Office on the hill on the other side of the tracks. I always check there first as it's among one of the easiest spots to check. The medical bunker also only spawns in one spot and that is up the rope climb way down by the cabins, take the trail to the right of camp office. Another easy spot to check is a food bunker that spawns on the hillside across from the tram car. You can actually see it from the doorway of the tram in good weather. Another easily and accessible spot is just tucked up behind the log sort area kinda right behind Carter Hydro dam. Lots of times you find the backpack in that area with the polaroid pic in it. The hatch is typically just a tucked off to the side. The other bunker locations do require a bit more effort to find. There's a hatch location way back up the hill past the Clear Cut area and those few times I've found it there, it was the firewood bunker. there's also some good maps from the steam community, and also you can google the maps on images. Good luck!
  4. Oh, that sucks! So what route would you suggest for a someone to take who might be interested in trying out this self imposed challenge? have you decided to try again? if so, I'd be interested in route planning. Do you search the entire map or just major points of interest where you might find coffee? Did you go to HRV for any reason, I probably would avoid it completely. Since you didn't sleep at all, did you even bother to craft weapons or clothing? Or did you just live off the land and move on the fly? I'd be interested in hearing a little more about how you "played" the game, resource utilitzation, resting without sleeping, dealing with blizzards, wound and injury management. whew... seems like a lot of effort just to find coffee!
  5. outstanding, I've been looking for that thing all over!
  6. That is fantastic player name... CatPeeSipper
  7. nothing better than reading a good book or two when you're dining alone...
  8. I'd have to agree with your assessment. I think there was a lot more action and adventure in Episode Two. The story was clear and concise and the action dealing with the bear with multiple engagements was exciting. I think the biggest let down was at the end, the final battle was over almost as quickly as it had begun and I was really looking forward to finding my way out of the bear's cave/den. I was utterly disappointed however in the abrupt conclusion of what could have, should have, been an epic showdown between Will and his nemesis. curious if you had that same reaction?
  9. Now that's a prepper's cache! just once in the game, I'd like to come across an Easter Egg like this! It would be so novel to uncover a fully stocked bunker that hadn't ever been explore or looted. I can see it now, cut scene where there is a minor quake on the island and following that there's an avalanche which just happens to uncover a mysterious forgotten hatch! Nice find! Thanks for sharing!
  10. lol, dude! I just read the entire thread and it appears to me you're the one who didn't understand the discussion. Apparently you don't like the idea of having a camera in the game so you want to pooh pooh the topic by getting all quasi scientific. Maybe you oughta work on those reading comprehension skills. Looks to me that you've taken the entire conversation out of context from my perspective.
  11. Holy Moly Batman! that is impressive! I hate going in those caves, somehow the sound of that ice cracking just gives me goosebumps. I suffer from Nyctophobia, IRL, so I just avoid them in the game. I'm 35 and I still have to sleep with a light on. My wife wears a black out eye mask to bed to help her fall asleep. It takes some resolve for me just to go thru the transition caves to move from one region to another, so thank you for taking the time to shed some light on this scary place for me!
  12. lol, indeed he has! I hear imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but just between you and me, I think your pic is the better of the two! 😉😉
  13. No offense but you need to work on your reading comprehension skills. Every knows that just cause the map is in story mode doesn"t mean its ready for survival yet... OP was just asking if it maybe was coming earlier considering it's all ready being referenced in the player journal. That's all.
  14. thank you it seems the wolf pack was a little intimidate by all the bears. they ran away squealing into the night...
  15. The moon beckoned brightly as the celestial winds played their magical tunes against the highly rarefied night sky. the call of the wild was ringing in my ears... I am the aurora whisperer...
  16. I think that is technically outside. Not sure I'd want to risk leaving stuff there, but it would be easy enough to test by just leaving a gut there for a few hours and see if there is any change in condition. Next time I'm up in that next of the woods I'll give it a try and let you know. I only ever stopped there once or twice to ride out a blizzard. Seems to be a good place to hunker down to get outta the wind.
  17. That's been around for a while now, but still pretty cool if you ask me.
  18. oh and how dirty they are... I got a bucket and some cloth also some freshly boiled hot water. Why is there always filth and litter laying on the floors of every post-apocalyptic game ever made? Doesn't anyone clean up after themselves anymore? Games like this are why I need to stay on my meds...
  19. Spell of Darkness, eh @Stinky socks where do I find these "evil" timber bunnies?
  20. oh snap! So much going on... so many questions... Who, what, where, why and how??? it's gonna be a long two weeks! I can't wait to play this!
  21. Hmmm, you'd think that there would be dozens of such spots considering the size of the island and the mere fact that so much of it is timbered. But the Birch Tree forest does bring some interesting colors with the various grasses that grow there between the trees. I often look at those large trees and wonder if the Devs didn't just resize the saplings to make the big trees!
  22. Playing the Nomad Challenge Decided to end the run at Trapper's Cabin in Mystery Lake so I lugged a lot of junk along from the over stops since I was in the neighborhood. I left so much stuff behind, it was ridiculous. I did keep all the bullets. I ended up with lots of bullets! I had a few duplicates of everything. I ended up finding the tools prepper cache and was rewarded with an abundance of jerry cans, lanterns, assorted hatchets and knives... was able to repair everything in the room to 100% before the fat lady sang! So I wanted to share a couple of pics of my final resting place. Decorating the room can take considerable time which seems fortunate because this challenge just seemed like it took forever to complete... I tried spending a little time reupholstering my chair... The fat lady ended singing her favorite tune just a little to soon, but time waits for no man!
  23. Congratulations! It does take some level of commitment to keep playing the game sometimes! Well Done! What's next, shooting for 1000?
  24. So, I'm up there at the Signal Hill radio tower and of course find my trusty lantern nearby... (anybody ever play "Zork") It's in pretty bad shape but there's plenty of fuel and I finally get it fired up. I figure I'd get maximum lighting by putting it on top of the coffee maker in the break room and since the lamp was in the window it would nicely illuminate the radio desk. Now, It's either really darkly tinted glass or it's so darn dirty the light can barely shine thru it. So, if it's tinted why even bother putting a window in there? It's the little things that keep me up at night... Chime in, tinted or dirty?
