  1. Hey, just a heads up, I'm gonna grab your MRE pick and use it in post on the Survival thread. I'll give you credit for the pick. It intrigued me to do a little research. I hope you dont mind!
  2. Ha ha, got me one just the other day! follows me all the over! I just wish he'd leave little footprints in the snow...
  3. what? meaning you die quickly? lol or you manage to find your way out quick to the relative safety of Mountain Town?
  4. I pretty much just play Stalker level difficulty mostly because I like using the guns in the game and let me say that I consider myself to be intimately familiar with all the maps, with the exception of the newly added region and maybe HRV, both of which I haven't spent hundreds of hours playing on as compared to the rest of the regions that make up GBI. That being said, I don't find navigating FM to be overly difficult provided a player does not try to cross the extremely wide patches of ice which almost always result in breaking through and getting wet! ouch! I also find that there seems to be ample deer nearby Spencer's and that ole bear does like to come fairly close as apparently he can cross the thin ice with impunity! The one thing I find intriguing is your ability to bring the forge to temp with only 4 lumps of coal. I don't think I've ever been able to do that without using a minimum of 6 lumps of coal and most often for me it's at least 7 pieces. I suppose laying a better base using fir as the primary heating source before adding coal makes the difference? I do like Broken Railroad and all the amenities it has to offer, but still don't think it will ever become my first or even second choice as my favorite forge. For all the reasons you mentioned, ie map size, two-fers, the bear and the moose, DP in my opinion still beats out BR. I do like that fact that BR has the workbench right next to the forge. That in itself is a handy feature!
  5. Ok, that makes sense, but if you go all the way to the BI/FM transition cave to collect coal, why dont you just use the forge in FM? I mean your practically right on top of Spencer's when you exit the transition cave? why hump all that coal back to Broken Railroad? No disrespect intended, But I think as Pilgrim player, since you don't have to worry about being jumped by predatory wildlife, you are able to indulge yourself by making the long journey. You do primarily play Pilgrim difficulty, right? Obviously nothing wrong with that, but I am wondering if your opinion would be different were that not the case?
  6. I just recently launched a fresh loper run and spawned into HRV at night during a blizzard... That's a tough map if you don't know your way around.
  7. Interesting choice of most useful item. I'm inclined to agree. On the flip side though, flashlight is just a paperweight, am I right?
  8. I like Broken Railroad too, but not for the forge. There's only a one time use supply of coal on the map, otherwise you have to leave the region in order to replenish the supplies. There's probably more than enough scrapmetal to be had between the hunting lodge and the maintenance yard to last for multiple crafting sessions but definitely a severe shortage of coal comparatively.
  9. Since you can't control where you spawn on a newly launched Interloper run, I'm curious how many launches would it will take before you actually spawn in DP?
  10. Just watched this movie the other day and I was quite drawn to all the simularites of the story to the game. I guess it's been out for a few years now, but I don't remember seeing it advertised in the theaters. I thought it was well done and wanted to know if you've seen the movie and what you thought?
  11. I think the shovel appears somewhere in story mode as a decoration. you can't interact with it or use it any way. It's just background clutter, although you can spawn one into your inventory if your on PC and use the developer's console. All you can do at that point is to drop it from your inventory and prop it up against the wall or something like that. meh...
  12. ha ha ha, love the Demolition Man reference.... "he doesn't know how to use the three seashells..." so I'm curious, how did they use the three seashells? like scrapers or something?
  13. There already is a shovel in the game. It's too bad that it isn't useable in some fashion other than for decoration. I've always wanted to bury the dead that I find in the game. It would only be fitting that they get a proper burial and send off into the afterlife. And kudos on carrying a wolf carcass. Even after you quarter one of the beasts and all that is left lying there is a couple of legs, the total encumberment of the remaining parts are practically nothing.
  14. Lions, Tigers and Elephants, Oh my! how about some flying monkeys and a yellow brick road? 🐒 🐯 🐴 🐫 🐘🐧 🐼🐩 🐮 🐎 we could pretend that a circus came to the island to entertain the prison inmates and when the event occured all the animals got loose!
  15. I've had something similar happen to me, but there was only one wolf and not three. Long story short, pilgrim difficulty mode game. I had spawned in DP and spent some time there forging arrowheads and whatnot. as I transitioned into CH, I was meet with the three wolves that typically patrol the ice there. I shot at one with the rifle and they all ran away. As I rushed to the Quonset hut I ran into another wolf just outside the front door. I shot him with the bow at close range and killed him. I went inside and unloaded my gear. I went outside only to harvest the dead wolf by the door, but suddenly there was a moose in the back yard and a bear rambling down the street towards me. I shot the moose and he ran away. I shot at the bear he ran away too. I ended up with one dead wolf...
  16. Poor Hank. It's been so long since I played Episode 2, I don't remember finding him in his bunker. Looks like a fun little cookout with the old man. Cookies and Wine, but no bottle opener! lol
  17. Heck Yeah! It would be awesome to find some keys. I think I found the house key once in the truck at the Milton farmhouse, but as I recall it was sitting on the dash. no visor love... you know, none of the cars or trucks in the game have a seat heater right? that's why the seats are all made of cloth. Leather would have been too cold in that kinda climate. That is probably another reason why everything was manual. less possiblity for cold related equipment failure? btw, you know you can't use gasoline in a hurricane lamp, right? burns way to hot, the gas has a very low vaporization point and the whole thing eventually explodes! Boom, another way to die in TLD
  18. Lol, @piddy3825, I just laughed my ass off reading this post. Best line "there's just one more, this one is for the dreaded Necronomicon variant..." Wasn't the Necronomicon the book for raising the dead in the Bruce Campbell move, Army of the Evil Dead? famous line, "This is my Boom Stick!" You should be a political satirist, this just had me laughing at the absurdity that we find ourselves in nowadays!
  19. just curious why you would need to use the caves to cure animal hides when you can just plop them down inside the substation? are you intentionally trying to make more work for yourself?
  20. I always wondered why the devs put moveable sunvisors in the car and then never put anything up there to fall out. maybe because it would have fallen out and they thought an animation or something would be necessary. just once though, just once, I'd like to check a car's visor and find something, even if it is just an old pack of matches. btw, @piddy3825, I test drove a 2014 Mazda 6 i Sport with a manual transmission the other day. It was blast! Heavy clutch though, my left leg got one helluva work out. Had power windows though. I was hoping for manual. almost made an offer on it but the moonroof however leaked like a sieve...
  21. no, we just can't spell very well or do math...
