  1. The most interesting thing about the does to me is that since they are smaller, from far distance they kinda look like wolves. Especially at night. I actually have to use the fisheye lens to make sure of it quite often.
  2. Nah, someone just thought they heard a noise. Anyhow... it just goes to show how poorly communicated the first changes to the DLC were.
  3. There was one wolf in the transition area, but in a very easy place... should've been in the dark tunnel for some Fluffy effect! The train station was easily the best bit. I wish there had been more oak trees around it, as there were beyond the marsh, but as a building it was very neat and cozy.
  4. The core changes to the existing game seem good (albeit I'm confused as to why there are no patch notes for each update) but am I the only one who finds the new region + connectors a bit empty? Both in wildlife and unique terrain aspects. Mind you I've only discovered like 30% of the Airfield but still... between the exit of BR and good way into FA I only saw one wolf, too... well maybe it'll get more eventful. At least when the next updates, whatever they are, roll over...
  5. In the meantime, besides what was said in the Youtube vid are there any detail patch notes for the actual features included in this first update?
  6. After finishing and installing the 5gb DL it started a 2,87gb DL so I guess I am in no hurry to try to test anything out until these mini packages stop arriving It did say 16gb of hard drive space required in the store screen
  7. Well, in a way it's more comforting that it's a wider issue.
  8. Getting the same error, won't launch Also before that, the update package seemed very weird and small
  9. Bit OT, but were the NPCs actually necessary for Story either...? I find them horribly distracting
  10. Thank god it's a national holiday here on Tuesday, for maximum first impressions session. What's the launch time for tomorrow, 10AM Pacific again? Guess I'll watch that long Raph video while the game starts downloading
  11. Les Stroud would 100% disagree with you, as would I. Eating snow in survival situation is perfectly fine in most cases, especially if you are sweating. Of course if you are already freezing or are about to freeze it's not recommended, and I also wouldn't touch the surface snow, but otherwise it's fine. No-one would die of thirst in winter. The game could have a mechanic against only eating snow.
  12. Well, even in the worst case scenario I can always ignore the trader and/or pretend it does not exist. That will do. Just like I have to ignore the fact that you cannot eat raw snow and instead have to carry around imaginary water bottles, or how the indoor temperatures are warm and static, for non logical reasons.
  13. Am I the only one who dislikes Methuselah? Well, just like almost every character in the story mode, but still...
  14. Hope so. The fire starting chance percentages are weird and also too easy. Starting fires with lit torches should be eliminated (or at least modified) and match spawn rates reduced dramatically... Well at the very least no guaranteed match locations, which is actually something we might actually be getting now.
  15. In the early days there were only couple of maps (well, 1 at the start...), not game world that is now much bigger than that of Skyrim. As for the latter point you can replicate that feeling either by doing a Loper start or random spawn, so what's the issue? (It's even probable that you cannot start in the new hub without finding it first anyway)
  16. They've told us the connecting region in all of the previous region updates too so I'm not sure how this is surprising to you. Even if they had not told us, the game menus do. And you'll still have to find the entrance in BR anyway. (Even if it should be more obvious than it was with Blackrock / Ash / Bleak)
  17. Loot and animal spawn tables + player starting locations being entirely refreshed makes even the base game feel entirely new I think, especially as they say they are trying to make each (already existing) region feel more unique. So gone are probably guaranteed matches at Mountaineer Hut and gone are guaranteed rabbits and wolves next to it and so on. Maybe the bear now sits next to the cabin and there's only crackers to be had. I assume HRV spawns are now gonna radically differ from say Coastal Highway... Hopefully this would also mean a bit more randomization in animal pathing too. And on top of that the ACTUAL new stuff of course... The insanity + trader stuff seems a bit questionable on paper still but all the rest, wow!
  18. So much stuff it's overwhelming! In a way the "free stuff" is actually even more interesting 😮
  19. Oh it's this old cheating claim once again for the 100th time. Moving on.
  20. Wednesday 10AM PT, so actually today (6PM GMT) yey!
  21. Well first a quickish test tour in Mystery Lake or wherever to see / try out / observe some of the basic new features. Then start new run, something easier like Interloper (because doing new map run is always more handy that way) and prep a bit before making my way to the new zone. But not prep much since I don't intend it to be lasting run or anything, that can come later.
  22. Regarding the oaks, I hope there's oak forest and not just individual trees here and there... I always thought the game lacked a good proper birch forest for example. Aside from moderately sized one in PV, the other ones are very minor and rare
