  1. Yes, it is possible. I went up the rope to Runaway Bridge and turned out there was no rope attached to go down to Climber's Cave. So I backtracked all the way to Pillar's Footrest to the Cave System and rested there for the night. The next day, I was wondering around hills near the Cave System and found my way to the Climber's Cave - without climbing any rope. Luckily, unlike the other outdoor caves in AC, that Climber's Cave was warm enough to sleep in without a fire (on Interloper).
  2. The other entrance is via Echo Ravine but turn right instead of left. I'm making my way to where the new gear is, one of the choke points was blocked by a pack of 4 wolves, killed 2 and ran from the rest. Continued my journey and just as I stepped onto the rope bridge, a blizzard starts to hit (god, I love Interloper) and now I'm stuck in a cavelet that's actually warm. Just waiting for the blizzard to end...
  3. Nope, I was able to stay above freezing on Voyager due to forgiving weather and good clothing but just brought my Interloper survivor there and checked one of the outdoor caves again - still freezing no matter where I stand inside the cave. Gotta start a long fire to keep warm if you want to stay throughout the night. This might be a slight problem for Interlopers to travel around in AC since you can't use these caves to warm up without a fire.
  4. The technical backpack works as a permanent carrying capacity buff of +5kg. You don't need a clothing slot to wear it and it stacks with both the moose satchel and Well Fed.
  5. Went to recce this region on my 700-day Voyager run before bringing my Interloper survivor there, and I'd say, this region is very huge and way more complexed than HRV. Took me 9 in-game days just to charcoal map the key locations in Faithful Cartographer journal. One thing I noticed is that the outdoor caves in this region barely keep you above freezing (on Voyager), and can't be used to cure hides/saplings too. Not sure if bugged or intended, but this could be a problem on Interloper since there are not many indoor locations to warm up while travelling.
  6. Have you tried using the radial menu (spacebar as default)? It shows up all the options for light sources/weapons so you can choose what you want to equip straightaway which is pretty convenient. I used to cycle through my light sources/weapons using the number keys too back in the older days but now I never go back to them once I started using the radial menu. The only number key that I still use nowadays is the "3" (Drop Decoy) button. Doesn't really fix the slow cycling like you mentioned but I thought I'd share this work-around.
  7. Just checked the wiki and you can repair back up to 50% at L1 mending, 55% at L3, and 62.5% at L5. Sure, if one is waiting till the bedroll gets ruined so that he can salvage and recraft, fewer bearskins are needed. But then, the extremely low- conditioned bear bedroll becomes a dead weight and you might as well just use a normal bedroll at this point. Crafting it takes 17.5 hours (way longer in Interloper with the improvised knife) so the additional resources (e.g. food, water, firewood if you're using outdoor workbench) and risks (e.g. cabin fever) have to be taken into account too. And considering salvaging and recrafting still requires an additional bearskin anyway, I'd definitely just go for repairing since bears are not hard to find unlike the moose. But to each his own.
  8. Yes, you're right in a sense that Hinterland's not obliged to provide us free updates once we bought the game but it's always good to consider customer feedback if they want to improve as a company. What the players here are asking for is not unreasonable. They are not asking for free DLCs or multi-player stuff, it's just a simple toggle to enable the feats progression on Custom which can be implemented very easily. And if Hinterland is really paranoid about players making custom games easier than Pilgrim to cheese the feats, they could just add a boundary like how some of the posters have suggested above. Right now, this "no feats progression in Custom" policy - which was meant to discourage players from cheesing the feats in Custom - has only encouraged players to do so in Pilgrim more, since they just want to get it over and done with the feats so that they can use them in their custom games. I could tell you how I can still cheese my feats in official difficulties if I really wanted to (you can easily grind Blizzard Walker in Story mode in like 2 hours btw) so is the policy actually working? Because I highly doubt so. So is there still a need for this policy?Think for yourselves.
  9. Keep in mind that at the end of the day, it is us the players that Hinterland has to keep happy. We're, after all, the customers whom Hinterland depends on for its success. To discriminate a group of customers (a fairly large one) without a logical reasoning is unfair too. I've said what I wanted so I shall not argue further lest the discussion turns ugly. Personally, this issue doesn't affect me at all since I don't play Custom but I hope to see all players being treated equally one day.
  10. Interesting, if feats don't impact the game that much then what's stopping Hinterland from enabling the progression in Custom? What's there to be persistent about since it wouldn't even break the game? I just don't understand why people who bought the game are being punished for playing a mode introduced by the game company themselves. Playing Custom doesn't break any game rules nor harm anyone else's experience, does it?
  11. Exactly this. I personally only play vanilla difficulties but I find it ridiculous that some people have to grind feats on Pilgrim so that they can finally start moving onto their custom games - which, as far as I know, are set harder than Pilgrim. To me, that just seems very counter-productive and I highly doubt this is Hinterland's "intended" way of playing their game. So why not just enable the feats progression on Custom and make everyone happy? It doesn't affect me at all if someone playing Custom is able to earn feats (it's a single player game for God's sake) and from my observations, there's a fairly large group of people who do not find the vanilla difficulties just as enjoyable so it's still going to be a win-win situation for both the players and Hinterland (who'll be able to keep this specific group of customers happy).
  12. There are already too many zombie survival games out there, leave TLD alone.
  13. I'm sorry but your little tip doesn't work like how it does on moose-hide cloak and satchel. Both the bearskin coat and bedroll require 2 bear hides each to craft/recraft. So the only logical way to repair either of the two is to kill more bears.
  14. Not sure what Hinterland was thinking when they made that statement since it doesn't make sense at all considering how you can still gain feats on Pilgrim which is "so easy to survive". By their logic, how is Pilgrim still worthy of gaining feats then? So in all honesty, they're just contradicting their reason for not allowing feats progression on Custom.
  15. Actually, it's not that impressive considering I'm only 116 days into this run and I've already used my 10th match just the other day. So I'm using a match every 12 days and honestly, that's no where near impressive in terms of conserving matches on Interloper. But then again, I realised there's not much of a point to be overly conservative on usage of matches, unless I'm aiming for thousands of days - which probably won't happen as I'm more likely to move on from this game by then. Edit: I'm not too sure if matches ever decay. I've heard they used to long time ago, but I doubt they ever decay as of right now. Maybe they really do very slowly, but I haven't noticed any signs of decay for matches so far.
  16. I've counted a total of 288 matches so far so that's exactly 24 boxes. I'm pretty sure there are still some boxes which I haven't found yet but I'm not in a hurry either so I guess that day will eventually come.
  17. My bad, I must've recalled the wrong number as I thought I've stored all my matches in the Dam. Just went back to my save (which I haven't touched in months) to do a quick check since 2.7 boxes per region actually sounds reasonable, and clearly, I've only stored half of the matches I found in the Dam (168), and still have some in a few of my other bases. It was a good thing that I typed down the exact numbers of my inventory in the journal when I was still playing. Added up the numbers and it was actually around 300 which seems to match with your stats. Now that I actually went to look through my journal, my perception of "scarce" resources on Interloper has changed abit. I guess resources aren't that scarce even on Interloper if players actually make an effort to explore the Great Bear.
  18. The number of matches seems alittle bit off for me, though. I've discovered 99% of the world in my current Interloper run, and only found about 100+ matches - including the 9 matches I've used so far. I know these numbers can vary across different saves but I don't think there are ~300 matches on Interloper. Could be that I've missed out some boxes but I highly doubt it can even exceed 200.
  19. I think this loadout will weigh around 25kg? With about 10kg to spare with the moose satchel, 15kg if you have Well Fed. Clothing: Bearskin + Mackinaw for coats and Deerskin + Combat for pants, the rest is pretty much standard for Interloper. Tools: Improvised knife + hatchet, hacksaw (ditched prybar cause already looted all cars and lockers in my run) Weapons: Bow w/ ~6 arrows, loaded flare gun w/ 1 spare round Food & water: ~10 cattails (2 days' worth of food), 1-2 coffee, 1.5-2L water Equipment: Normal bedroll, storm lantern, 1 flare, 1 torch, 2 fishing tackles, whetstone, 1 cooking pot + 1 recycled can Firestarting: Mag lens, firestriker, 1 box of matches, 2-4 coal First Aid: 4 bandages, 1 stim, 1 OMB dressing (w/ 3 uncrafted OMB), 1 reishi tea, 2 birch bark teas Misc: 5 cloth (for emergency snow shelter) Could go abit more lighter but I like to have my tools with me. I use the hacksaw for harvesting meat since I always build a fire nearby to thaw it out first anyway. And the hatchet for all-round use (self-defense, breaking down furniture, clearing scrub bushes, etc.). Lantern because I hate navigating in the dark and I can't always have a lit torch with me. I also carry 1 cooking pot because I have at least 1 pot at each of my multiple bases so I'll always have 2 at all times no matter which base I'm at. It's also nice to be able to boil some water while I sleep in hourly-intervals say if I'm stuck in a cave during a blizzard and I have a fire on.
  20. I must say I rely heavily on the starvation technique - 108 days on my Interloper run and I'm still surviving on just 750 calories a day. Not because Well Fed is hard to maintain, I just don't find the buff necessary as I always travel light and do not need the extra 5kg. To me, 35kg with the moose satchel is more than enough space on Interloper. I also don't really like how easily you get hungry on Interloper and a whole deer can only feed you for like 3 days max? With 750 calories a day, I can stretch the deer to a week's worth of food and I can focus on my other goals instead of having to babysit my survivor 24/7.
  21. It's good to have the flare gun in your inventory but it's not really necessary against timberwolves. I'd suggest saving the shells for stopping charging bears/moose instead. It's possible to sneak past timberwolves entirely with crouching/distracting with stones to get to the watchtower or radio station in upper BI. Just gotta watch your condition as you may take some freezing damage in the process on Interloper.
  22. I'd say leave Interloper as it is, it's not overly hard at all if you know the regions and understand the game mechanics. I made the jump to Inteloper after knowing most of the game inside out while playing Voyager, and it didn't take long for me to get used to it. Yes, it is alittle bit hard at first, but you just have to adjust your playstyle for Interloper. The main issue here is not being able to gain feats progression in Custom. HL should just allow it and let people play their Stalker-Loper hybrid or whatever they want while still being able to earn feats.
  23. Instead of clicking repeatedly, you can use your mousewheel to adjust the quantity of items you want to transfer in/out from containers.
  24. If you're playing anything below Interloper, don't bother getting either one of them because you simply don't need to. Otherwise, I'll go for the coat, not sure about the bedroll though. Right now, I'm using Bearskin + Mackinaw and normal bedroll combo on Interloper and it's been working out pretty well for me.
  25. Ability to carry/drag tree limbs is a cool idea, they could just reuse the same mechanics from carrying survivors in Ep 3. Huge penalty on mobility and not being able to equip weapons while carrying would still make it balanced. IIRC, you couldn't add coal directly into a fire in the past (like you have to wait till the fire has been burning for quite some time). I wish they'd bring that back though, coal is too OP in Interloper at the moment.
