  1. I stepped into the Control Hut just long enough to warm up. It was time head back up towards higher reaches of the falls. When I first came into the region, there was a very dense fog and I think I passed by a couple of spots that I know deserve to be explored while I'm up here (plus I did forgo the back path last time... and I really should walk every trail, if I can). However, that does come with a greater risk. On this backtrail it isn't very easy to see Timberwolves coming... so I might be walking into an ambush.😖 I'll have to be cautious... Thankfully, it's warmed up enough that I should be able to say out for the rest of the day (assuming the weather holds of course). This time, it was time to head left, to the backtrail... So far, the way ahead looks clear... I better get a move on. Found them... good, for now they are not a problem. However, when it comes time to get back to the Pensive Lookout or the climbing point, this might be a bit of an inconvenience.🤔 For now though, onward and upward. I sprained a couple of things on the way up... but I was able to get back up to the top and really explore all the little nooks and crannies that I think I missed due to the fog the first time around. Now, it's just a matter of getting back down safely... 🤔 I may have to stay up here overnight, and hope the Timberwolves decide to move on... or at least skulk over to another nearby territory. Besides, with a sprained ankle it would be at least 4 hours before I could get on the rope again. Also, it's no so crucial to get back down, that I feel the need to use a risky goating path to get down before dark. Once again, I'd like to thank past me for leaving behind some clutch provisions.
  2. The idea today is to spend one piece of charcoal to take advantage of the vista view from the Polaroid, and to search up the side-trail from the Echo One Radio Tower (kind of skipped it last time, so may as well see to it since I'm up here again). The weather is a bit rough this morning... 🤔 The wind is bone chilling this morning... Interesting... they are out in two separate packs this morning.🤔 I can only assume the two groups will merge when they meet; meaning I will have to contend with a pack of at least 3... but maybe 6. With it being so biting cold, I might just take the next couple of hours to observe them (hoping that it either warms up a little... or that wind at least dies down). As the morning went on, it seems that the actual size of the combined pack is four. I'm honestly a bit relieved it could have been much worse.🤭 As I made my way down to the Echo One Radio Tower, I was looking over my shoulder about every ten paces. I can see the next few short-term goals from up here. Once I'm finished up here... I need to get to the Coastal Highway Terminus bridge (along with the trailer near there), and I also still need to get to the small island just there offshore. Then last, but most dangerous: The Cannery Rush
  3. Honestly, I find that with appropriate planning and provisioning... nearly (I emphasize nearly) any place can be used for a long-term encampment. Some will certainly be more challenging than others. Monolith Lake: Potential Moose At least three rabbit runs that I can think of nearby Sometimes deer / sometimes wolves *in the surrounding area (sometimes we can even use a lone wolf to hunt deer for us ) Total of three Caves nearby (Watchful Falls Cave, Peak Cave, Pensive Vista Cave) *The resources that can be found on that "upper-shelf"... makes for a place one can carve out a viable living. To my mind it's not a bad pick of one wanted to live in Hushed River Valley... Personally, I tend to favor the cave near Stairsteps Lake.
  4. Recommendation: File bug reports/trouble tickets with Hinterland Support (link below).
  5. @Xenusion Gameplay Videos & Streams - Hinterland Forums Probably the best place in most cases... but really, it's up to you.
  6. Recommendation: File bug reports/trouble tickets with Hinterland Support (link below).
  7. @Leeanda I think that pack is perhaps still bugged out. Also one of the lockers in the Rural Store in Pleasant Valley. I don't remember the whole list of containers that folks have reported. I'm probably going to circle back and make a fresh ticket for the locker... as well as the exploit for match condition. (I do want to re-test that to verify first... but I didn't see anything about it in change log)
  8. @hozz1235 Again... I'm not taking the bait. I'm not going to be arguing with you either. It's the Admins who get to judge the comments on this forum... not me or anyone else. As always, I defer to them.
  9. @Leeanda I think my highest string of consecutive of failed attempts for mending was about 6 (if I remember correctly). Though I did, a long time ago, have a 24-karat run of bad luck with fire-starting... It amounted to 8 wasted matches (of which I had 10 at the time). Needless to say, after that experience I started using torches or a mag-lens for all fire-starting attempts from then on.
  10. And I said as much. But I think it's bad form to start trying to get hostile just because another opinion won't acquiesce or capitulate. I wasn't pointing out anyone in particular... why do you assume I was talking about you? If you really felt it was okay... they why continue to try and pick fights? I'm not going to take the bait. Anyway... as I said, I'm not going to be drawn into any protracted arguments about it. As I mentioned before, I said my peace... and I stand by it.
  11. I'd say that Hinterland has given me nine years of a wonderful game (and likely for many more years to come). A game that's been greatly updated, expanded upon, and continues to grow far above and beyond what I've ever gotten for my money with any other game. Even between the game itself, two soundtrack volumes, and The Far Territory DLC... I've still paid far less than most games I have in my library. I know there are some folks here who seem to like "throwing stones" when they feel they are not getting what they expect fast enough, and sure... folks have the right to feel however they want about it. However, I think some of the rather harsh assumptions and accusations are rather unwarranted (given what Hinterland has already provided over the years and show no signs of stopping). It's not like Hinterland has abandoned the game, took the money, and ran... they have not. (there are several examples in the Kickstarter/Early Access ecosystem where that was precisely what happened) Hinterland has been continuing to show and communicate their plans, work, and intentions throughout the years. I suppose for some, Hinterland may not communicate enough for it to suit some folk's apparent feeling of entitlement... but they do communicate with us. From what I see, they work hard to deliver on their plans the best that they can, and it's clear to me that they work to fix issues as quickly as they can when things don't go to plan. We can't know all the issues and challenges they face... I think it's evident that the team is doing the best they can. I feel that Hinterland has earned a lot of good will. To me, they more than deserve the benefit of the doubt. I understand that some feel upset, but I'd also encourage folks to take in a little perspective... I've said my peace... I'm not interested in being drawn into any protracted arguments about it. If we don't agree, that's okay.
  12. [While not the first or perhaps not the most popular version... it's by far my favorite rendition]
  13. I quickly rushed back outside to finish the hard push to get back up to the Summit at Ravine's End, and to hole-up in the Pensive Lookout for the remainder of the night. However, by the time I'd gotten to back to the rope... I was already starting to freeze to death. At this rate... I'd be frozen half dead by the time I reach the bed at the top of the tower. Slept hard for the rest of the night... sneaking around through Timberwolf territory at night... and during an aurora without any weapons is stressful. 🤭😖
  14. I'd say that the improvised hand and head coverings were already made available because head and hand coverings are not starting gear items for Stalker/Interloper. (*note: in my experience, Stalker does have a good chance to start with hand coverings and sometimes without, but Interloper will always be without either head or hand coverings) Socks, on the other hand... are starting gear items at all levels. So, I'd say it's fine that an improvised variant are not craftable. To my mind, if we start with socks and lose them... then it's just part of the challenge and struggle if we can't find them later on. Also... it's been demonstrated that we can survive just fine on only animal pelt crafted clothing (meaning socks are nice... but we can do without). I've never really liked the improvised head and hand coverings (which is why I choose not to make or use them), and as it stands... I'm not really in favor of the idea improvised socks, I feel like they only serve to make life easier for the player. ...And I'm rarely in favor of anything that makes life easier for the player.
  15. Hinterland has given several news/update posts, feedback from Admins, and Dev Diaries... this thread feels as though it was just made to be antagonistic. (or possibly just created by a poster who hasn't read any of the of the news/updates or dev diaries)
  16. @TiffTastic Welcome back to the wilderness.
  17. @Leeanda Turned out that the Timberwolves were skulking around on the slopes near the frozen pond. It was a tense crawl to slip passed. Especially sine I could only get eyes on one of them, and the others I had no good way to verify where exactly they were.
