  1. I decided I would make a hard push to Coastal Highway to go get Barb's Rifle. Since I carried Forester's Revolver with me on the way out of Bleak Inlet, and earlier brought Woodwright's Bow out of Hushed River Valley... I'm just a rifle short of my ideal set of weapons all in one place. Oh yeah... I forgot I'd also left my crampons at the Camp Office also. But if I'm honest. I really don't have much use for them, so they will likely just stay here. So the route for the day begins. I'm going to get to the Fishing Camp in Coastal Highway and back to the Camp Office. If I can't get back before the sun goes down... then it will turn into a night hike. I picked up Barb's Rifle, ammunition, and a couple night's worth of food to help replenish the limited food supply I've been keeping in my pack. It spent a couple hours checking over my stashed supplies to make sure I was packing out what I was sure I wanted to take with me. 🤔 I need to remember to fill my storm lantern As I started making my way back... the sun was already starting to get low in the sky. Finally made it back... a little after 10 p.m. (if I had to estimate). Now the collection is all together.
  2. @Abenico I didn't mean to seem like I was teasing you. I know you were joking, but I really was just trying to remind and reassure that the feature in question is indeed on the way.
  3. 🤔 I'd tend to think that the mods are likely the culprit (in cases where mods are in mix)... I'm on steam as well (and don't use mods), and my copy seems to be working just fine. 🤭 Seems a bit odd to be upset at Hinterland for updating their game, when a modded game breaks. That's not on Hinterland... that's on the person choosing to add additional code to a game that is seeing ongoing updates, adjustments, and expansion. Are there bugs and some issues currently, yes... but they are acknowledged and being worked on. The game in its current state (at least from what I can see on Steam) is still very playable. (that is to say, while there are bugs and issues... it's not fundamentally broken)
  4. @Third Try Welcome to the wilderness.
  5. I sat and watched for a few minutes... to see if the weather was going to shift (one way or another). It looked the weather was holding (at least for now)... so of course I was going to take the risk. This is getting much more dangerous as it starts to get "deadly dark." Visibility is getting worse... but I've crawled along the edge of the muskeg this far, there's no turning back now. As I kept slowly pushing onward, the storm broke... alarmingly FAST. Traveling wasn't going to be an issue now... I just have to be especially watchful for the wolves out prowling. I should be able to get to the Camp Office in Mystery Lake before midnight. The aurora got wild in Mystery Lake tonight. Made it back to the Camp Office. I'll do a quick sort and stow in the morning and decide what to do next.
  6. Hmm... there's enough light to at least get to the railroad tracks. However, the weather is looking a bit threatening. The wind is kicking up, the temperature is dropping, and the snow is getting heavier. I'm torn between making the hard push and risking getting caught in a blizzard... or just staying the night in this cave. There is maybe an hour or two of day light left (not much time to make up my mind). 🤔
  7. I think it's probably better if we avoid speculation (or ascribe motivations to Hinterland) on maters that we don't really know the actual facts around.
  8. Oops, I made a mistake (and it's worth clarifying, I think) I mixed up my variants... I cited Vaugh's Rifle, but I realize now I had confused Vaugh's Rifle with Barb's Rifle. It was Barb's Rifle that has the better durability... Differences from Hunting Rifle: Base weight is 0.5kg more than the Hunting Rifle Firing rate is the same as the Hunting Rifle Reload cooldown is the same as the Hunting Rifle Total durability is 33% more than Hunting Rifle Range is the same as the Hunting Rifle Vaugh's Rifle is actually the opposite. Differences compared to the Hunting Rifle Base weight is 1.0 kg less than Hunting Rifle Firing rate is 1.0 second quicker per shot than Hunting Rifle Reload cool-down is 0.5 seconds quicker than Hunting Rifle Total durability is 33% less than Hunting Rifle Range is the same as the Hunting Rifle ...so while I misspoke, my sentiment is the same. I think durability is king among the variants. This means my ideal set would be: Woodwright's Bow Forester's Revolver Barb's Rifle
  9. The cave is nice and warm, but I don't really have the supplies to sit around for long. If there's enough daylight, I'll press on for a quick hike through Forlorn Muskeg... but if not, then I'll head out at first light. I have to think now about how I'd like to get to Ash Canyon. I do have a couple of options. Also... already starting to think a head about Keeper's Pass and Blackrock. It may be worth taking a few detours to start gathering up some ammo. Not sure which weapon I want to take with me for defense, but perhaps it's a good idea to gather up some of those options and stash them away now at Mystery Lake. 🤔 I'm not sure yet... I'll have to think on it some more.
  10. In my opinion, Vaugh's Rifle is the best variant anyway. I think that "better durability" beats "more damage" as the more valuable trait every single time. I'd be fine with missing out on the Curator's Rifle in exchange for three of Vaugh's. Sounds like a very lucky bug! I'm headed to Ash Canyon next in my current run. I'm currently in the cave system between Bleak Inlet and Forlorn Muskeg and intending to head to Mystery Lake on the way to Ash Canyon. Perhaps I'll take a detour to check on those. 🤭
  11. @ABJL Welcome to the wilderness.
  12. @Leeanda Personally, I love the Timberwolves. As for them spreading to the rest of Great Bear Island... I've always kind of hoped they would work like the Moose. Specifically, I mean one Timberwolf Pack would "migrate" pseudo-randomly between potential spawn points across all the regions. The dense population in Bleak Inlet... I'd be good with that staying as it is (after all Bleak Inlet also already has its own dedicated guaranteed moose spawn separate from the one that roams the rest of Great Bear Island). If they don't ever give the Timberwolves this feature... then I do hope the Cougar will at least. Because the moose spawn patterns are (were in case they have changed recently) great.
  13. Hinterland Support (zendesk.com) Site is definitely up (at least from this end).
  14. @Leeanda Thank you. It was a tense struggle... but I'm glad to demonstrate that it can be done. 😁
  15. Weaponless Bleak Inlet... confirmed possible.
  16. If Hinterland says it will be ready in 2024... then I trust they will have it ready in 2024. 😋
  17. The weather was looking a bit threatening, but I pressed on anyway.... There it is... the cave to Forlorn Muskeg just ahead.

All fair points... 🤭 By the way.... (I figured I'd mention) I do favor Stalker over Interloper. While I appreciate the Interloper harshness... I much rather have access to all the game has to offer while having to watch out for the maximum number of hostiles. Perhaps one day I will settle on a nice mixture in the custom settings... but for now I do really favor Stalker.
  19. It was bitterly cold having to slowly crawl away from the Cannery with more than 45kg of gear and supplies in my pack. I was already freezing, by the time I made it to the underside of Long Bridge. Also, sprained an ankle while having to keep on the slope to avoid the thin ice that pushed right up to the shoreline below... so that slowed me down even more. I had to keep low until I was well away from the Cannery on the opposite side of the road... I had to keep close to the shore to make sure I didn't get turned around... or worse stuck crawling on out on thin ice). But I made it back in one piece. I'll spend the rest of the day doing my final sort & stow. I'll get a full and warm night's sleep. I'll head out for Forlorn Muskeg tomorrow.
