  1. I had a bear come into the Mountaineers Hut a few months ago. It gave me quite a mauling. Several months ago I had a pack of wolves, I think four of them, come into a cave. I can't remember which cave.
  2. The answer is simple. Different people like different games. If you don't want to change yourself, change your game. That is better than having all games changed to suit you.
  3. How about a few iron-clad, giant storm troopers with Gatling guns?
  4. I can think of few things worse than having zombies in TLD.
  5. I have just returned to The Cannery Workers Residences, BI, after completing Faithful Cartographer, for the fifth time in Voyager/Stalker games. ( I don't use those excellent Whiteberry, or similar, maps and I don't use Fandom or similar spoiler websites, but I do backup my saves. ) No, I am not boasting or gloating, quite a few other old hands have similar achievements. I am just an sad old man with nothing better to do with my life. I have played TLD in the order of 4,400 hours and strangely, have spend around the same number of days in TLD. 2-3 years ago Faithful Cartographer was quite a lot of work, now it is easy due to a few changes. I am tempted to push those bigger games to over 1,000 days and 310 locations, but now I need a break. TLD is a great game, keep at it.
  6. At what level were you playing? What does, "I’ve power leveled two survivors . . . ", mean?
  7. People who do not like desolate bleak areas and struggling around lost in the snow should crash their aircraft in a zombie filled Manhattan next time. The essence of TLD is the struggle of an unequipped guy in very harsh, freezing, mountains.
  8. That is surprising and disappointing. As the entrance cave that starts the trip to Ash Canyon is halfway up TWM and some of the place in AC seem high I thought that AC places would have been much higher than that. Thanks for checking those heights.
  9. This is an issue HTL needs to sort out. For 'ticking off' locations or map entities for the Faithful Cartographer, creating maps or just recording locations there needs to be a consistent action. At the moment some places are triggered automatically some are not and need to be drawn on a charcoal map. Many times I have been to a location necessary for Faithful Cartographer and found that it has not been included because I didn't draw a charcoal map. Some places do, some places do not.
  10. Please give us a break from your bold orange typeface. It is hard on the eyes.
  11. Some of the earlier versions of TLD had terrible lighting inside buildings even during the daytime. I haven't noticed the problem for quite a while so I assume the HTL have sorted out the problem and updates no longer have the problem. So it could be that your hard copy version from a game store was an early version with the problem. Perhaps you could do with a Steam version that is often updated.
  12. I have suggested simple plain wooden arrows that can only kill rabbits, a few times but HTL has never taken up the suggestion.
  13. That seems like a completely new game and a major project.
  14. You seem to be implying that you would not have bought the game if you had known that the result of events was influenced by random decisions. How did you think such events in games were decided?
  15. Why build a rock cache? Why not just dump stuff on the ground or in a cave?
  16. There is a spot close to the mine descent rope which seems to be a little higher. The spacial co-ordinates in this images puzzle me. I haven't checked exactly where in AC it is, probably near the High Meadows viewpoint, but it looks to be quite high.
  17. That is exactly how I felt after a hard day and arriving at Homestead Respite in AC, and saw a chair in front of the fire. I just wanted to light the fire and collapse into that chair.
  18. . . . have a rock climbing, or goating, route up the fragmented rocky face between the Climbers' Cave and where that rope to the right of the cave would hang. I'd like to see a few climbing routes on these rocky and snow/ice steep faces, something like the ice-climbing that Lara Croft does in various Tomb Raiders. Perhaps HTL might bring it in if they do a TLD sequel.
  19. After over-nighting at Anglers Den I intended to pick up one of the three redundant ropes I have lying around AC and deploy it from the lower level of that plateau above Climbers Cave. Then I decided that all the ropes were too far away so I changed my plan and climbed up a fixed rope to the Massif with Runaway Bridge, plotted the lower level of the Climbers Cave Massif then returned the long way around back to Anglers Den. It was long journey and a hard day by Voyager standards. I was attacked by a wolf almost as soon as I started which left me in poor condition for a couple of rope climbs and a busy day. I made it back to Anglers, just. I shall pick up one of the ropes when I pass that way and deploy it later. Here is my current map. It is not much different from my map from an earlier game.
  20. Here it is for above the mine in AC. How does that compare with the other places?
  21. Damn it! I have just come down from the gold mine. I wish I had checked the elevation then. I hate all those rope climbs. I'll go back up from the Anglers Den when the mist clears and I cook some meat for the journey. My game is at 1306 days, it gives me a reason to continue.
  22. I am familiar with the route to the Climbers Cave that you mention. I have been along that route many times. Have you actually been on the plateau above the Climbers Cave? Have you managed to clear the black patch covering the plateau from your charcoal map?
  23. What you are sating is starting to sound familiar. I have just come down from the Foreman's Retreat, through the mine and am now at the Angler's Den. I shall investigate further in the morning. What has surprised me about this trip, I've just done two circuits, around AC is that it is noticeably different from earlier trips around. I have seen the bear at the Foreman's Retreat only once. Previously it was as regular as clockwork every 13-14 days after being killed. I didn't find the Bearskin Jacket in the usual place and haven't seen the moose. All of this could just be the random effect, but it makes me wonder if there have been a few changes since AC was initially released.
  24. How do you get up there to deploy the rope, if there is no rope there to climb up? Perhaps it's possible to climb up that bit without a rope, although I have never needed to do that as there has always been a rope there. I'll give it a try when I'm next in that area.
