  1. How does this help with determining direction?

    Lucky!

7 day new run. Level 1 archery and had never shot an arrow. I was in Broken RR and I saw the bear come out of is cave and figured, "Why not?". 1st shot - knew it had to be a long-range arcing shot since I couldn't crouch yet. Took aim, let loose and to my amazement, I heard the "grrrrrllllllll" and he fell over dead on the spot. I had no knife yet, and couldn't spare the time to carve him up with an improvised hatchet, so had to quarter him. I then headed over to the hunter's blind by the lake, and guess what? Found a knife!
  3. The earth's magnetic field is, for the most part, stable. It does fluctuate, and is said that every 300,000 years, the North and South poles may "flip". Solar flares, which contain electromagnetic particles, and can contribute to aurorae, can cause a temporary interference in portions of the earth's magnetic field. I don't see this as a permanent interference, which is why I think compasses may work "some of the time" on Great Bear, but may also be unreliable. The following article/video helps to explain this somewhat. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/nasa-researchers-track-slowly-splitting-dent-in-earth-s-magnetic-field
  4. Good luck! What difficulty are you playing on?

  6. Does anyone have a 4k laptop that they are happy with? If so, what brand & model? I'm in the market, but it seems I read lots of complaints about either: 1) overheating or, 2) fan loudness. I do understand those 2 are somewhat necessary to push 4k but am looking for a happy middle-ground.
  7. What about non-loper players? 😭
  8. Yes, but I believe it only begins to crack once you have entered the "thin ice/danger" zone. I think @Cyclone35 is asking for more advance notice. In my experience, some ice is really hard to tell whether it's thin or not, but it seems, most thin ice has more of a bluish tint to it (not so white).
  9. Not to mention, there are so many batteries (lead) in the game, I don't think you could ever run out.
  10. Would this only occur during aurorae, then?
  11. Have you tried playing around with the different sound settings?
  12. In some interfaces, you can also use the keyboard to decrease or increase quantity - I believe it's A & D keys, respectively. If I recall, W & S move up and down as well. I use them when harvesting a rabbit for example.
  13. Or, allow us to harvest the wrecked railcars with our trusty hacksaw! Think of all the scrap sitting there!
  14. From my experience, and reading from others, it appears so.
  15. That's actually a really good, safe spot too. No wildlife, but plenty of wood, and like you said, great view!
  16. Do you really think it would matter? 😄
  17. Being a devout enthusiast of the TLD, I'm also inclined to ask you @hipsu555 to give TLD a chance; however, it is your money and you should be able to spend it on what you want.
  18. I think there should be some type of memorial there
