When looking for Battery there are some vehicles that do not give them away.

Car with front end damage has no option to lift the hood.

Truck not only do not give Battery away.  Truck tease you showing Battery.

 

The one discovery made is concerning Battery against Bear.

It is possible to scare Bear away using Battery gang.

 

 

Battery would like to say that is not truthful.

To scare Bear does not take four and it takes Battery Five.

I figured it out :)  When you RMB items, its weight is now added to your own.  Prior to that, it was advantageous to carry a heavy object around by RMBing it, instead of picking it up, because that essentially allows you to carry it for free.

Back then I noticed if I had an item RMBed, and I walked up to an area transition that you could walk through, the RMBed item was automatically forced into my inventory.  I haven't bothered to do that since Hinterland fixed the "RMBed items are weightless" exploit, but I tried it again with the battery and yup.  It goes right into your inventory.  It has to be an area transition that you walk through, such as the rail tunnel connecting ML and FM.  Presumably an explorable cave would work as well, although I haven't tried that.

Interesting. Never bothered to try this, never saw a reason too. But might be fun to play with, just for Science. Pretty sure Hinterland will increase the weight to a more "realistic" one when this is added to the game, so time to play now, before it changes. The differing states of decay make good sense, since IRL car batteries do decay, and become more and more unable to hold a charge over time, and under certain circumstances. Otherwise we would never need to replace them with new ones.

That trick works with every "scene change", meaning every loading screen.

Battery was stubborn and did not want to leave the vehicle.

Battery Logistics

When moving Battery it is easiest to just lug them.  It takes the most in game time and real time.

The best method to move a Battery group is 'leap frog'.

Stand behind and place Battery from the back to the front.

 

A variation is the 'side leap frog'.

Stand adjacent to the Battery group and place Battery from the back to the front.

This is demanding on the user but the advantage is this will move a Battery group quickly.

Milton - twelve.

Pleasant Valley - nine.

Coastal  Highway - eight.

Desolation Point - three.

Crumbling Highway - one.

Broken Railroad - one.

Battery Tally total is thirty four.

Battery spent much mojo trying to dispel the Energizer Bunny.

Thought I was collecting Battery for fun?

 

AvE is just the right type of crazy canuck the Long Dark deserves.

In this episode Battery is given an autopsy.  Sorry Battery we need your body for scientific experimentation.  The information obtained is that antimony is added to the plumbous to fabricate the plates.  This is great for the purpose of crafting slugs as the resulting alloy is stiffer than plain plumbous. 

Now to figure out where to find the ingredients for the propellant.

Just having a little fun today. Tested with one battery, will have to see what happens with multiples. 

The game is very picky about where you can place a battery on top of an open car hood, but right at the front edge seems to be allowed. Then close the hood.

We'll see if it stays hanging there through a save and exit, and is still there when I go back in again. 

Yes, I am tired, and not well caffeinated yet. When I am, I may regret doing this. Then again, I may not.
