  1. Interesting posts I thought up another "benefit" of the window situation: As it stands now the player cannot routinely be inside a building and shoot passing wildlife, the blinds, and the doorless huts and the PV farmhouse porch don't offer protection from a charging wolf or bear. That prevents a sniping gameplay - unless you get lucky with a critical hit from those open locations. The towers make the sniping impossible ( I assume!) Next time I play im going to see if the tower windows shatter when shot, and what happens to interior temperatures. love this game
  2. I think this is interesting yes the majority of interiors are like the tardis aren’t they compared to the area they use on the map
  3. I mean windows you can see out of. The view is very expansive so a lot is being drawn, including some excellent weather, so why don’t most other buildings have working windows? I wonder if it is the elevated view meaning no animals are drawn perhaps that helps? ( Probably asked a few times already but it’s not a great set of keywords to work with in search sorry!)
  4. Lol yeah the two day blizzards always seem to know when I’m too low on food and swing by. I also love that map too, really disappointed by coastal highway when I finally dragged everything over there
  5. Cool thanks so same games and support just different shops, great.
  6. Normally I’m playing TLD on a PS4 so I’m not new to the game but I’ve never used a laptop to play games so no idea about that .
  7. Hi there I have an m1 Mac and wonder how I play TLD on it? I’m a total laptop game newbie so don’t know the difference between steam and epic or if there even is one? Id like to use a PS4 controller with it if that matters? Thanks
  8. weird, not seen this yet, good luck and let us know how you sort it
  9. Yep so many variables, I would like to know more about ideal struggle clicking really and even that seems to be up for interpretation
  10. Yeah max with the blue fully fed buffer and the knife about 70% I normally walk calmly and get followed for ages t this time they’re attacking while I’m walking away and not aiming. Not carrying more smells than usual either , I think I need to have more struggles to see a proper pattern but it is surprising
  11. Wow lucky stuff! I’m tempted to try stalker but dread to think what they’re like on that mode!
  12. Hi I’m on voyageur and wearing a wolf coat. Just seems that the struggles so far in PH have been much more drawn out and damaging. Maybe it’s just chance so far of course.
  13. Hi I’m new to this, random started in PM then had some great times over in ‘that one with the plane crash on mountain top’ and wolves were pesky yes. But now I’ve moved to coastal highway via the mine and the three wolves I’ve fought there so far seem to be much harder to finish
  14. yep, sticks on the floor, crows, red berries, branches: all give me a jarring weird wish to be in TLD again. Reminds me of the early days playing Doom on my Pentium endlessly, then opening the cutlery drawer would make a noise that sounded like a gun being reloaded.
  15. Thanks Gun Tech that's really useful to see maybe a silly question but what is QuickTap? is it a keyboard macro for consistency? i'm using a PS4 so if there is a frequency you set that to it would be good to know please so I can try to do with just a thumb. I started working on the data to bin the results into 10 damage chunks and chart as a histogram, i'm interested to add more data so if I can replicate I will do. cheers Here is the QUICKTAP, 25% energy, weapons comparison data binned showing frequency of occurrence, you can see hammer doesn't reach into the high ranges and is also quite likely to result in very low player damage. cheers again, really useful stuff
  16. I think I’d be happy if I had the option to repair the roof hole in my shed with deer hide and guts, giving a warmth benefit. Same goes for shutting the window or stretching a hide over the big window in the hut door.
  17. I’m getting a lot of those black screens in 1.93 usually during or after picking up an item. And the usual method of menu twiddling is much less successful at making the screen come back. PS4 pro The problem seemed totally fixed in previous version
  18. I have a latest model PS4 pro and I don’t see 30fps often it seems quite variable and generally slightly too low to forget about. Quite a surprise but still great to play
  19. Bumping this, a disastrous day left my awake / sleep cycle all out of kilter and a couple of hours had to be wasted with nothing to fix or prepare, it would have been great to pick up a copy of Call of the Wild, and actually read it for a few minutes in game.
  20. Weirdly I tried 4K yesterday on the pro and it was at least as good if not better than the 1080 frame rate . I’d definitely class then frame rate as low, reminds me of gaming many years ago
  21. Same here although I’ve noticed some locations are better than others and it’s not always due to complexity. Also snow falling seems to have some sort of beneficial effect on frame rate maybe it’s something the boost mode helps with? Either way I’ve got used to it but it’s a shame really . Wonder what a ps5 would do with it?
  22. When you’re learning the lay of the land on a new map, seeing new vistas and memorising the location of the last cave ‘just in case’ it helps to turn around a lot as you’re walking, to see things from another angle, especially useful as you dash back to that cave you saw 10 minutes ago!
  23. PS4 with same issue here , also the single stoves in a fishing hut are very tricky to use now for same reason
  24. Only been caught out in two so far and something I noticed to help me was the sensation of player movement is distorted of course by the swirling movement of the snow blowing . If you know where you are supposed to be then you have to really try to focus on the odd tree you might catch a glimpse of and see your actual ground speed - usually barely moving! And once you have a handle on that it helps you to figure out where you’ve got to in your desperate blind stumbling. A short distance can seem enormous in a blizzard and you have to know your pace

Great info thanks will check it out. Normally I try to avoid the wiki so I don’t know too much but that moose was a nasty piece of work!
