  1. Spot on That's what I hope for with the new camera as well.
  2. The Hand-crank Movie/Film Cameras have the other sort of problem... we couldn't just set up and walk away, because someone needs to crank the handle. So, while it's true that the old Movie Cameras are purely mechanical and do not require electricity... it also means we have to be the one turning the crank... so we couldn't really get footage of wildlife any closer than we normally could anyway. 🤔 I appreciate the creativity of this Wish List item... but for me, I think that if I did really want to record some video, I'd probably just look into OBS (since it's free and I can then make videos from all of my games rather than just one).
  3. Went to poke my head out this morning. Threatening a blizzard... staying inside to see what happens.
  4. Oh... you mean a video camera? 🤔 Seems to me (at least in order to be consistent with the lore) that it could only potentially work during an aurora. We are already getting an in-game traditional camera (for photography), and I think that's a wonderful addition. However, I don't really see my survivor wanting to wait for an aurora to record a video... then wait for another aurora to watch it later.
  5. The only real "end" for any game is when we choose to stop playing it... and as long as I have the hardware to run it (or the ability to emulate the hardware to run it), The Long Dark will never truly "end" for me. That's the beauty of Survival Mode, the story lasts for as long as I'm there to live it. Wintermute's story may end... updates may eventually stop... but I will continue to experience my survivors many stories on Great Bear Island for many years to come.
  6. Wonderboy Vs. Young Nasty Man [Addendum - just realized there is some flashy bits at the end...] Just audio alternate Tenacious D - Wonderboy - YouTube
  7. Super curious to find out more about this... Hopefully it becomes a cleaner way to take HUD-less screenshots. I mean, currently on the PC... I can press F10, but those images are just too big (files size that is). So to get reasonably sized screenshots, I find I have to press F10 & F12 simultaneously (which sometimes if not timed perfectly results in two screenshots... one with HUD and one without). I suppose... this may give consolers' a better way to get screenshots also. 🤔
  8. To mark the occasion of: International "Talk Like a Pirate" Day...
  9. Also, probably another important thing to talk about while I'm in this situation: If we have to have a fire out in the open... remember to keep the amount of wood you put in, to a minimum. As with what just happened to me, the wind changed direction and I now have a wind-blown campfire. However, because I had only put on enough sticks for an hour at a time... I only ended up losing maybe 30 minutes of burn time. While the fire is getting hit by the windy conditions... I have to nurse the fire one stick at a time to keep it going. This way... my fire never goes out, and I don't lose out on any more burn time. (also, I get to keep boiling water, making coffee, and drying out my clothes). 🤭
  10. @Leeanda Not complaining... I did need to take time to bolster a new water supply... more just lamenting my blunder. But I suppose it's also a teachable moment. One example of how to be prepared for, and overcome a mistake... especially since mistakes can be fatal on Great Bear Island.
  11. Okay... this is just how I'm spending the rest of my day.
  12. Thankfully I keep an extra pair of socks for just such an occasion... at least I will be more likely to avoid frost bite on my toes. I do also tend to keep an extra tuque and wool mittens on hand as well.
  13. I took a brief look around... but my clothing is starting freeze pretty quickly. Best to head back to the Washed-Out Trailers. 😖 Interesting... I did not expect to find these. 🤔 At this point clothing is nearly half-frozen. Once they get completely frozen, they be doing more harm than good. Time to make haste back to my encampment... I guess I'll be spending the rest of the day building up a water supply and try to dry out some clothing.
  14. It was rather late in the morning when I woke up. When I peeked outside, it rather foggy... but not so much as to keep me from trying to get a route in today. I think the idea is to get over to the ridge line on the other side of the Frozen Delta and explore back up, the circle back down the same path I took the other day to get back to the Washed-Out Trailers again. Trying to scout the way ahead... but hadn't spotted any Timberwolf Packs, yet. Doesn't look like any are prowling the road leading towards the Cannery today either... 🤔 Doesn't look to be any packs out on the ice either... 🤔 Ah... there are at least two just a little way ahead (hard to spot in this shot, I suppose... but they're there). Here was my first significant blunder in this region... I was working my way closer to the bridge from below. Panicked a little when I suddenly found myself on thin ice, tripped... and fell (that is to say, I'd meant to turn around and sprint... accidently crouched instead). Now I'm soaked up to my waist... and have hypothermia. Thankfully my clothing is warm enough, that I'm already starting to recover warmth. I'm going to have to keep an eye on my condition... if I can, I'd like to keep to the route I've selected for today. However, it needs be I will return to the Washed-Out Trailers early and work on building up a water supply. The next hour or so will give me a good indication of which direction I'll go from here.
  15. I like to roleplay my survivor a bit... and this is precisely the reason my survivor only hunts when it's absolutely necessary for her survival. She can never know if she is orphaning baby creatures any time she hunts.
  16. I think it's just as easy to use the mag-lens to start a fire outside, pull a torch from that fire, and then use that torch to start a fire inside. Given that, I don't really see a need for this particular change.
  17. @Leeanda I imagine it is... But for me it's a bit bothersome, because if we're careful and pick up our highest condition matches first... all the other matches of the same kind would then combine to match whatever was in our inventory. I know I mentioned it in the quotes from my older posts about it... but I figured it bears repeating. Cheesing up the condition, to my mind, is a problem. And of course, if we are not paying attention... the reverse is possible, and we could accidentally loose condition on them just as easily.
  18. As of just a couple of days ago I can confirm that the "Match Condition" exploit is still in play.
  19. Personally, I think the current systems work fine, and I don't really see a need to overhaul it in the ways OP described. When talking about a survivor's "nerves" or "hesitation," I believe these are really an individual player's skill / habits / mistakes... and I'd posit these "level up" through actual "player experience." For me, this means that making them more dependent on hard-set (and arbitrary) mechanic... I feel this takes away from the player's own individual skill level in having to use the extant mechanics effectively. I don't mind things like reloading being a more-or-less fixed value, because it gives the player the opportunity to get better by having to take that timing into account. This requires the player to get better through practice... whereas affixing those variables to a ridged gameplay-mechanic's progression, then it effectively requires less from the player themself. For all these reasons, I'm not really in support of this proposed change. Generally speaking, I'm not often in favor of things that seem to only serve to ultimately just make things easier for the player. [Addendum] Also... unless we are talking about the limitations of console controllers, I really don't like the idea of "Aim Assist" at all.
