  1. As recently as yesterday... The match condition exploit is still in play.
  2. Early this morning, I picked up Woodwright's Bow, the two arrows I'd found, the arrow crafting stuff I'd found, refilled my storm lantern, and set out to leave Hushed River Valley... I was able to manage navigating the cave without using my lantern... I figured it would be best to try and conserve lantern fuel. I know I'll have the opportunity to pickup more supplies from my encampments I've left along the way, but still... I'd rather not use up any resources if I don't really need to. Once I arrived in Mountain Town, I decided to take the safest... and reasonably direct route between my secondary and primary encampments before heading onward to Mystery Lake. Ah, Mystery Lake... It always feels like a Homecoming whenever I come back here. However, this was not much time before nightfall... and the weather had been threatening a blizzard since I'd made it to the limbing area back in Mountain Town. I had to finish the hard push for the Camp Office. The Trapper's Homestead, always a site for sore eyes... but I'd have to visit there some other time. Hmm... two wolves prowling by the train tracks. I'll have to take the route past Dead Fall. I'm already exhausted from the climbs on the way out of Moutain Town. Wiser, I think to just give them a wide berth and walk on by. A wolf to my left (heading towards me), there ahead was the Dead Fall cabin (or at least what's left of it). It was getting darker rather quickly... but the weather was holding. The Mystery Lake Camp Office... always feels as welcoming as an old friend. I felt my way upstairs in the dark, found my familiar warm bed, ate, drank, and quickly fell into a deep sleep. I'll do a quick sort and stow in the morning. I want to leave the bow and arrows here for another time. For the journey to Bleak Inlet... I'm still determined to go without any weapons at all.
  3. Today's the day. I decided I was going to start out this morning from Hushed River Valley, and that I wouldn't rest until I reached the Camp Office back on Mystery Lake.
  4. Well, the lore in Wintermute suggests that it's at least sometime well beyond September 2012: Beyond this I don't think we get any specified dates that are more current... because that note on the door of the Milton Credit Union is clearly pretty old. If the note and Grey Mother are to be believed... then we might be looking at the "present" in Wintermute being maybe sometime as recently as 2022... and we know that Survival takes place sometime after Wintermute. Other lore references: So, even though we don't have a good idea of exactly "when" we are. We know that Great Bear Island has been "falling apart" since 2012, and even before that the island was pretty remote and cut off even at the best of times. Lots of old stuff around, and the occasional early 2000's plasma/LCD (even the occasional laptop) would be present but relatively uncommon... while CRT TVs and monitors abound, along with other analog devices and equipment. Also, reasonable given the poor/unreliable power grid after the loss of the Carter Dam operation... and the probable reliance on personal Generators in parts outside of maybe Milton, Perseverance Mills, and Blackrock Pen - thought we know Blackrock did also have its own electrical plant.
  5. No, it doesn't ever hurt to ask for feedback. Even if they had no plans on implementing a thing (wishlist or otherwise), they've had no qualms about saying so in the past. On this topic they'd already mentioned that the team was considering it (and looking at similar types of accessibly options) @Leeanda was just asking if there were any updates on the topic at all from their end.
  6. @DIA Welcome to the wilderness.
  7. @Admin Has there by chance been any indication from the team on whether this is something that's in the works? Has the team given any indication as to the list of possible Accessibility Options they are working on or considering?
  8. It is possible. A long time ago, the Deer would always run "away" from us, but I think that was changed to be a bit more random because folks would push deer and rabbits and use them as a wolf shield (forcing them to "scout" ahead and sacrificed to any wolf skulking nearby). While that still can be done... it's a bit more difficult these days because it seems like the deer just sort of pick a random direction to flee in when they get spooked (we can't as reliably push them in a particular direction as easily as we used to). Also, the same thing happens to wolves when they flee... which is terrifying! It's very unnerving when I hit a wolf with a stone, it starts fleeing in fear... but it looks like it's charging right for my face... only to have it bolt right past me instead. (more to OPs point) So while it's certainly possible for Hinterland to change or update the behavior, but given that we have Wolves, Timberwolves, Bears, Moose, and now a Cougar on the way... I feel like we have enough unreasonably hostile wildlife on our hands without having to worry about whether deer are going to start goring us next.
  9. There are generally just a couple of games that I have in rotation at a time from my admittedly rather extensive library (very much dependent on mood and what hits right at the time), but TLD is by far the anchor.
  10. I love that detail... also good science, thank you.
  11. Someone mentioned this belonged here as well. Conventional Wisdom: My response:
  12. After careful consideration, I decided I would challenge the meme... I intend to take on and explore Bleak Inlet in its entirety. However, I will not bring any weapons at all with me for defense against the Timberwolves. I know I can evade an avoid all the Timberwolf packs except for in the cannery itself. The cannery compound will be the biggest hurdle... and escaping that area will likely be the deadliest risk. Looking forward to it.
  13. The next region on the list for going down Memory Lane: Bleak Inlet. ... 🤔 ... I have a plan...
  14. I ended up having to spend the night at my primary encampment, but early the next morning went to finish exploring the Ice Caves. The weather was feeling a bit rough and threatening a blizzard, so I went back to take another two-hour nap. Thankfully, the weather cleared. Seems that Scruffy wasn't home today... Which I'm thankful for. This would have been a really tricky space to try and evade and avoid in. I did head back to check on the Memento Cache (some useful materials but not really notable for my purposes on this run). Headed back down to my primary encampment at the cave near Stairsteps Lake to a final sort and stow. Now, it's just time to get ready to head out of the region tomorrow.
  15. @Leeanda We're on a lore tangent... so it's only natural to want to theorize.
  16. Absolutely... so even though we don't have a good idea of when we are. We know that it's been falling apart since 2012, and even before that the island was pretty remote and cut of even at the best of times. Lots of old stuff around, and the occasional early 2000's plasma/LCD (even the occasional laptop) would be present but relatively uncommon... while CRT TVs and monitors abound, along with other analog devices and equipment. 17. @Leeanda Well, the lore in Wintermute suggests that it's at least sometime well beyond September 2012: Beyond this I don't think we get any specified dates that are more current... because that note on the door of the Milton Credit Union is clearly pretty old. 18. I'll have to be mindful of how much time I take for this last cave system. I'm nearly out of lower condition food (50% or worse). If I stay in the region for perhaps more than two or three more days, I'd have to start eating into the reserve supplies I've managed to build up. 🤔
  19. Fair point. Great Bear Island wasn't exactly on the cutting edge of anything even in its prime. Perhaps most pillows were down-stuffed, certainly possible, granted.
  20. @Leeanda Oh, well if I could send it off to you, I would. However, the bow is about only thing I plan on taking back out with me (along with the ammunition perhaps). I don't plan on carrying around with me everywhere, but likely to stash it at the Camp Office in Mystery Lake (for future use).
  21. @Leeanda I'll just leave them behind... if needed one day, they will get stripped down for leather to keep my insulated boots and leather gauntlets nice and healthy.
  22. I guess it really depends.🤔 Seems like perhaps most pillows these days are either stuffed with cotton or memory foam. I could see the bit about the down vest ... since it's explicitly calling out that it's made of down.
  23. @Leeanda Certainly more weapons and clothing than I was expecting to find.
  24. I spend most of the day exploring the Ice Cave system. As it turned out (and I had long since forgotten)... this cave system has three entrances: Just "below" Mammoth Falls (on the map, I mean) Near the Bear Den in the main expanse I consider serves as the "heart" of Hushed River Valley. Behind Reclusive Falls on Hushed River itself. So then... considering the Ice Cave entrances I've found, means that the other cave system must extend between: The path above Long Shot Falls The path just below Valley View Point The middle of the upper shelf between Lonely Cave and the Mysterious Signal Fire location above Many Falls Vista. If night falls before I'm done sorting and organizing... then I'll rest here in my primary encampment for the night. Also, to keep in mind are the two wolves prowling dangerously close to my cave.
