  1. yeah me too... I just usually strategically lay an animal hide over the "paper shavings' on the floor essentially like a floor rug. Still trying to come up with something to dress up the broken flower pots...
  2. i've found these so far... three of cover books and this one blank cover books from the church in PV
  3. It's always a bummer to find a dead guy in the house when you're planning on bunking down there for the night... dude manages to haul himself all the way up the stairs, past a kitchen full of food and water, a bathroom with medical supplies only to miss sitting down on the couch in his final moments. He must have been bleeding fairly profusely considering his blood soaked bandage...
  4. I've believe that each of the cover books has it's own corresponding open book. or am i mistaken?
  5. if only I hadn't chopped up that broom for firewood... i feel your pain especially when it comes to unmoveable clutter and debris. Since there is no immediate solution on the horizon any time soon, I've found that the only solution is cover up clutter I can on the floors using animal hides and sleeping bags... 3 well dropped sleeping bags on the sitting corpse upstairs in camp office will practically make him invisible... here's how I dealt with it.
  6. nope, the clothing slot for the headgear only gives you the one slot on the outside for the rabbit skin hat. I was hoping the same thing for the moose satchel on the other side, lol
  7. I'd like to see something like that too, but since it probably isn't going to be happening any time soon, practice throwing a rock, if you haven't done so already. there's even a merit badge in game for stoning those bunnies, just in case you weren't aware. I think it was called something like "stoned like a caveman..." if you need some tips on how to improve your stone throwing marksmanship, just ask, cause a few of the community members have done some great tutorials on how to become a better bunny slayer!
  8. following the caw caw caw of a murder of crows flying about in the distance I found this unfortunate soul. His backpack yielded a worn hoodie and when I turned out his pockets I found an old faded polaroid photo... If only he would have stumbled to the tree adjacent to his final resting place, he may or probably would have been saved.
  9. I got jumped by a bear in midst of reloading my pistol... I got tackled just as I was loading my fourth round and when the bear animation took over, it looked like a slow motion as the casings were knocked outta my hands from the bears weighty impact
  10. Can't forget about this poor guy sitting here all alone and forgotten just in sight of Misanthrope's cabin. Usually good for a round or two of rifle cartridges but after searching him quickly nothing of value except for a couple of nearby sticks and some crow feathers.
  11. yeah, that happened to me too. fairly frustrating too since I couldn't reach the loot to boot! also since we're unable to step into the "alcove" it's not possible to check what was on the other side. At least in the sandbox it's been my experience that there may sometimes be a skill book and/or a stim booster as well. oh well, there was at least plenty of loot either way... @Sherri and yeah, tried doing that shimmy along the angled piece of floor, didn't work
  12. Playing the 50 day spawn in HRV Voyager challenge and I must got bitten by a radioactive wolf or something because all of a sudden I can climb the inside of this caves walls in HRV like freaking Spiderman! Just love the quirks in this game especially when they work in my favor! My perch was just perfect for this screenshot of my lair ps. sprained my wrist and ankle coming back down
  13. Obi Wan, looks like he wants say something sarcastic like, "dumbass don't shine that light in your eye, it'll kill ya!"
  14. thanks for posting that, I've been struggling for a while now, trying to figure out what the problem was and yup, yup, yup that was the problem. my fingers thank you!
  15. Don't go putting words in my mouth that I didn't say. No where did I say the region was "pointless" those are your words... What I said was "I just don't see the allure that the region has for players considering all the things that you cannot do especially given the absolute abundance of natural resources and the relative supply of gear that is lootable given the voyager difficulty parameters."
  16. yes, a mere glimpse. the end scene is so much more grandiose. this is but a mere sliver of the bigger picture. If you haven't played thru, sorry about the spoiler.
  17. Spent the better part of the afternoon playing in HRV. so far the single biggest issue has been finding good warm clothing. at least being scantily clad does allow for maximum sprint speeds, lol. region however has been fairly generous in the loot department, lots of medicinal plants, fire wood and random chunks of coal all over. Plenty of carcasses, found a moose carcass on day one, but lack the means to harvest anyways, but noted the location. Question: do ice caves always transition from one section to another or can they just have a single ingress/egress and a circular design? I went in one thinking I'd come out somewhere else but ended back at the entrance that I had originally entered. gotta say the loot was right good for the effort! So did I just make a wrong turn in there somewhere? Also since you can't fabricate anything, is it a waste of time to harvest birch and maple saplings? By now I have a bow, 2 arrows and one arrowhead. go figure... And what about animal hides? Is it worth the time and exposure to harvest a pelt if you cannot craft clothing? I'll still do it to pimp out my "mancave" but is it worth the effort? I'm at day 17 now, armed, well fed satiated (found a 40kilo moose carcass) and sporting a newly acquired moose satchel. Still cold all the time with a blizzard every other day. At least ole Astrid is a good shot with the revolver...
  18. you'd think by now I would be intimately familiar with the region... nope, not me! like I said, it's the least visited map of any of my previous explorations. I typically only go there for the moose satchel and honestly only have acquired it on three other visits. And usually after that my survival effort is all about getting the hell outta there! wish me luck...
  19. As I make my way through HRV looking for a way out, I duck into this cave to ride out the blizzard that is beginning to build up outside only to find its already being occupied by this unfortunate soul. Hard to tell what killed this guy considering the scene. There was some food and drink nearby, firewood, some scrap metal and an flare round. When I turned out his pockets I found an additional 3 flares and 2 rounds of rifle ammo. As I relieved the corpse of his flare gun, Astrid quips, "I hope nobody's gonna need this..." I love her wicked sense of humor!
  20. I've been following your progress since you started this endeavor, so the other day after having completed a replay of Story mode, I decided to send Astrid out to test her mettle on your 50 day challenge! Although I have literally thousands of hours in the sandbox, Hushed River Valley, since it's inception has been the single least visited map in any of my previous explorations to date. I just don't see the allure that the region has for players considering all the things that you cannot do especially given the absolute abundance of natural resources and the relative supply of gear that is lootable given the voyager difficulty parameters. Let's just say not my most favorite map. Been there a few times, always was difficult and my happiest memories are when I finally find/make my way back to Mountain Town. So my adventure begins... I launch the game and immediately ask myself, "where the f*** am I ?"
  21. I'd just surveyed a section on my charcoal map when this wolf carcass was discovered. On my way down I to check it out, I noticed this corpse as I was clambering down from the opposite side. Found this poor chap boxed into a corner between a ledge over a waterfall and what was left of the wolf pack that had him boxed in. I think he may have been bitten several times which hampered his ability to load his rifle as evidenced by the three live rounds laying in the snow by his rifle. Appears he valiantly stood off those wolves, at least killing one before driving the others away. He didn't have much else of value except a grape soda, my favorite btw, and a decent t-shirt. Thanks for the rifle, too.
  22. yes, indeed! better control and less barrel sway. try it, you'll see.
