  1. Glad to see you progress and made it to summit. I myself made it to summit yesterday as well on day 24 interloper. I would suggest to all that want to go to summit - dont go str8 to summit from mountaneers. Instead go to Ash canyon by echo ravine -=> first checkpoint broken fishing hut -=> 2nd checkpoint Angler's den -=> 3rd checkpoint Broad falls -=> 4th checkpoint Long falls and cave then just ignore the path to Miners foley and go str8 up to Gold mine. Take the backpack and crampons then get out of the mine (not the way you entered) and move down to TWM deer clearing (nice cave and lots of deer to eat and gain well fed). After you gain well fed go to Secluded shelf and the cave there will get you to summit rope. This way you will have the backpack and summit in similar time - its not as risky as going thru 3 ropes one by one and takes only one day more. You can take all of the stuff from summit with the extra 10 kilos of space. I did take all of it from the site yesterday. Firestarter on 30 % this time I managed to collect all the world stuff that i need and will now move to coastal to craft 2 x bear coats, 2x deer pants , deer boots and rabbit mittons and hat. About 100 arrowheads and 4 or 5 sets of tools, 3 bows. Then i will continue my 100 day each region challenge. Stay safe out there !
  2. True - Mending lvl 5 is acquired by playing normally around day 400-500 on Interloper. I once did it faster on my first ever survival run - Voyager till day 250 i had all skills to lvl 5 (achievement) but i did repair every item i could find.
  3. Wow weird glitch. The most odd thing that happend to me twice was in bleak inlet whale procesing - when i wanted to get out of the plant i got teleported to Bleak inlet Spawn point with all my clothes gone and replaced with starting clothes. Fortunatelly the save didnt get corrupted and i was beeing able to get back to the point where i entered the plant. Happened to me twice on same character.
  4. Good loot in Carter huh? I din't find jack in dam when i was looting it yesterday BUT i didnt loot the entire dam. Still have some more looting to be done in there (need one more pair of wool socks) and off to Gold Mine/ Ash canyon (backpack) and Summit before the weather gets worse. Its Interloper day 14 and i already have one bear hide curing and several deer/rabbit skins as well. When i get back from Ash canyon and Summit ill probably head to Coastal Highway to stay there for 100 days craft all clothes etc. Goold luck on Your run. Keep us up to date.
  5. Yeah... im not using the radial menu from some time now..... mostly bcoz i was often choosing wrong item/not the item i wanted to. Maybe its an xbox controller thing - i know for a fact that it is harder to play via controler than a mouse. I have to agree on your point of view in the end. I also want the game to be hard/realistic. Sometimes i just hurry for no reason in the game and act too fast commiting those mistakes. This is something that i have to learn - to be more patient and carefull (in real life as well) otherwise i will never get to 1000 days.
  6. So a week ago i finished my 100 day Pleasant Valley cycle after i did Coastal highway. After pleasant valley i moved to Milton town for next 100 days. Doing all regions in a 100 day cycle. I had a few encounters that almost killed me and would like to share them with You. I apologize the videos are not "cut" but i really dont know how to do that yet - maybe some of you will recomend a easy , free editing software. Me getting almost killed by messing with Aurora wolf........ stupid.... Next one - i was going from the cave with the bed near Derelict Cabins to the cave at mistic falls picnic area. Was climbing a slope but didnt hear the bear at the other side ( i know hes roaming about there) and got confronted. Managed to shoot him in the face but it didnt take him down. Finally. Got struck by a blizzard while i was gathering venison and barely made it home. So i was glad that i made it and moved to Milton for another 100 days. I said to myslef i wont be careless anymore and yesterday died in Plane crash area opening wooden boxes. I forgot to take a break and get in the cave and after i opened 4th box i froze to death on day 300 , day 14 in Milton. Dang. Ofc i started a new Interloper run. Day 9 astrid. Crafting bow today and moving to Ash canyon gold mine and summit. After that i will continue my 100 day each region challenge. This time i will not fail xD
  7. So once again i did this. No warning what so ever.... maybe its a loper thing ? No warnings in Loper difficulty. OH CMON !!!!
  8. So i checked all the locations again and no key. Started a new custom game in Milton and the key was in the truck. Guess the old save that i had is bugged - nothing to worry now: I accidentally killed myslef yesterday on day 300 ....... I was carried away looting/crushing boxes at plane crash (Milton where Wintermute begins) and didnt went to cave to warm up. After i opened 4th box i froze to death....... was sooooo mad at first. Again stupid death. BUT I was pissed that i couldnt get to the meadows farm anyway and i found 2nd pair of underpants but they were already broken. So i had one more save from past (Loper Astrid day 11 bow crafted) but i decided to make a new one (the old save was probably bugged as well with the key) and finished yesterday on day 9 Astrid with tools made and arrowheads. Crafting bow today - Oh i found 2 x underpants in PV plane crash site this time so i got 3 of em now - crazy RNG. Its the first time i will have both underpants slots used.
  9. YEAH !!!! God knows i've been waiting for this sooo much Cant w8 , cant w8, caaaaaaant w8
  10. Oh luck will be needed. The game almost killed me 3 times this weekend dang. And im on day 65 in PV (250 overall) soo still days to go. I had an aurora wolf attack me and almost killed me ( my fault i was messing with it) Had a blizzard struck while i was gathering deer meat (Was very very lucky to find my way back in the farmers house) Was climbing a hill towards passage to Timber Wolf Mountain and on the other side of the slope i met a bear and got mauled (didnt hear the darn bear). Anyway got all of this on video so ill post it soon for You to see. Glad to be alive tho but will have to be more carefull. More humble.
  11. Xbox as well. Maybe i was there before the update.... ill finish my 100 days in PV and go settle in Milton for next 100 days. Hope i find the key bcoz this is where i wanted my base.
  12. I know i have the same issue on xbox with my current run. Ill have to go there to have a look again. If i still dont find it I guess ill send a ticket.
  13. Congratz - a lot of time invested. I checked my progress on xbox yday and it said 30 days of play but it seems wrong. It doesnt count play time properly - i can see it on other games as well. I suppose im on 1500+ hours, maybe more. 10k ..impressive.
  14. Microwave to boil water in it. Like RegentRelic said - ability to light torches from electric cables. Nothing else really - nothing seems reasonable .The point is to survive without electricity. The fact that game has milling machine to repair tools with scrap is enough already. The thing that i would like (not aurora powered) is: Bear, wolf traps (craftable upon finding a mold for it / also found in the world) Sledge for transporting big hauls for ex 100 kilo. Ability to craft/build a workbench (would require a vice taken down from other work bench or crafted/repaired) New animals (new craftable clothes from new furs like underpants , socks, and sweaters) New fishing mechanics (to make it a mini game not only rng + new fish + lures from existing and new animals to catch diffrent types of fish and ability to make trophies out of the fish and other animals). Maybe in the future - ability to buid own cabin - would require a ton of resources. + ability to move existing furniture.
  15. Seems that wont always happen. I noticed if you shoot a bear and the arrows sticks to it, if ur out of range or on a cliff or sth the bear will run and keep on running. That does not always happen tho. Maybe its pure rng or they changed sth with the last update. Y-day 3 bears respawned in CH where im living currently (doing a 100 day on each region loper challenge and just finished Coastal highway - moving to HRV today i think , havent decided yet) so i went to kill them all. One of them i one shot and the other two i was trying to scare. In both scenarios the bear started running and after 5 secs its stopped/resseted. I was not on an inaccessible terrain in both situations. Here is the video of one of them. Note that the arrow hit the bear (blood splat on hit) but didnt stick to it.
  16. Oh ok, thx. Btw. Is it just me or ? Yesterday in Coastal highway during fishing marathon i had 5 !!! auroras in a row then one normal night and then 2 auroras - crazy. Keep on keeping on
  17. Hmm weird. As i mentioned its the 3rd time ive done it and no warning at all. I will make a new run and check.
  18. im sorry what run is this (difficulty wise) and what day.
  19. Im a loper player and currently started a new run bcoz my 748 Astrid died during multiple wolf attacks. Im currently on day 150+ and about two weeks ago i AGAIN got parasites from eating raw meat by accident. It happened to me 2 times in last run and now once on current run and its frustrating and can result in death. Its all about misclick. I dont use the weel menu that much and when eating or drinking i pull out inventory and food tab. I would suggest to implement some kind of warning similar like the one when trying to burn a skill book that is not yeat read. You have an info asking you if you really want to burn this book and i strongly suggest the same should be made with raw food. Just a warning - do You really want to eat raw meat.
  20. I play TLD a lot, daily - lowest on Interloper. Never happened to me. Killed and harvested 3 bears y-day and wolf's were about and only after i finished the harvesting "animation" i notice wolfs come my way bcoz of the scent - then i just drop the meat. I usually harvest in 5 kilo parts. Harvest 5 kilo , drop, harvest, drop but sometimes i harvest 10 kilos at once (when there is good weather). The only concern i had was a week ago in Coastal highway - fishermans homes. Was outside and saw a wolf very close so crouched and used mag lense to start a fire ( i remember in Zak's movies which is my mentor he said: starting a fire is same as having a fire) and while in animation i was attacked by a wolf. Now that i recall that i remember he did stand and growl for a few sec's same as with torch i just couldnt aim at him with stone/bow/flare pistol so he attacked. Anyway sorry to hear you have this issue. I hope Hinterland will help.
  21. Took 3 wolf's and some 7% beers to loose my Loper day 748. Never died by bear or moose, timberwolf. Timberwolfs are actuall easy to avoid just with flare or torch.
  22. IMO the best way to kill a bear that u stumble upon is with the flare gun (easy to get from ravine , 2nd @ summit). Its the most powerfull weapon in the game. Bears are the easiest animals to kill in The long dark. The way to do it safe is to take good position - the bear should be heading your way in straight line. Dont shoot the bear from the side. If its hard to circle around use a rock to get its attention. Crouch always. The shot should be blasted from a good distance and aiming eye or head. This way even if you dont one shot the bear you will have enough time to shoot one more time as he comes at you and in 95% of cases it will die (there is one bear that wont die sometimes even with 2 head shots. Boris the bear, Ash canyon, miners foley - that bear is insane). Here are some examples from my current run Interloper day 120+ archery lvl 3 and 4.
  23. Im a loper player (recently died on day 748, currently on day 143) and dont see any challenge in pilgrim naked as well. Its just too warm and too much loot + weapons and tools. Im not trying to criticize anyone but if You like the challenge i would strongly reccomend N.O.G.O.A. mode (No one gets out alive - basically super interloper). Its ...... hard really hard. Weather is harsh, animals plenty and vicious, minimal loot, even not a lot of cattails, no birch bark tea plus the only way to regen health is either by a stim or getting well fed bonus that ups 5% of hp. Im trying to get past the point where i have bow and arrows ready but no luck still. Zaknafeim made a series of videos on NOGOA and he did get to the point where he had a bow and started hunting. Its intense. You just cant get cold bcoz every % of life you loose cant be healed. Ppl are often affraid to play interloper and beyond but if you try it you will fall in love and will never go back to easier modes. Its just satisfying as hell. And it takes a couple of tries to change game tactics that worked on pilgrim, voyager and stalker. When i started playing TLD i went Voyager and lived for 250 days then out of boredom i deleted the save (it was too easy at this point, unlimited ammo, warm clothes so no point in making fire, you could just go thru entire map without freezing) and started interloper. Took me about 4 or 5 failed runs didnt even reach day 10 and after that i understood what i had to do diffrent and made some huge runs (my biggest 748 days). Interloper can throw suprises even on exp chars on day 700+ . If you like the game and want a bit of a challenge but very satisfying go looper and then NOGOA when ur a master looper. Code for NOGOA custom play: 8sHM-/z8P-Dz+3-QZym-XQIC Zak's N.O.G.O.A. series (you can learn a lot from he's movies. i know i learned everything i know now)
  24. I just think that beeing able to save the game whenever you want would open doors to somehow cheat/escape bad things that could happen to you while playing. If you would be able to save the game on each pause or opening your inventory that would allow you to escape every danger there is it this game - something like in the movie with Tom Cruise with the time travel/respawn thing after ur dead. For example: You got struck in a blizzard and all you have to do is press pause or open inventory to save the game at that point thus providing urself a lot of respawns if you get lost which imo breaks the whole idea of survival mode. That is why there should be at least a hour cooldown for every save just to prvent from abusing it like i mentioned. Nowdays the game save everytime you enter indoors and you can lure animals like bears or deer near the doors and voila ! unlimited lives to kill the bear or moose without a scrath. That is abusive imo. So in my solution when you enter an interior or save in any other way possible you are safe for the time beeing. but keep in mind that if you leave you wont be able to save the game again for an hour just to prevent stuff that i mentioned. And even when you want to leave the game an hour progress in survival mode is nothing - even if you loose it it only takes a bit time to gt back where u were at. Even if you feel like it's an extremely backwards way of doing it it only takes one minute tops.
  25. No no no no.... I strongly disagree on this. It would make the game too easy. In fact i would add: Game should save after ice breaks and u fall in the water same like it does when u fall down, get bit/mauled, get a sprain, get sick. Now you can just load the game after u fall in the ice and be ok. What i would like to see is a cooldown on last save - say one hour. That way you couldnt abuse the game by loading when you want if something bad is about to happen. I play on xbox X and when i have to do something or i have a visitor at my house when im playing i just pause and turn off the TV. The console goes to sleeping mode anyway and this is not that energy consuming. You can easily leave it fro hours if needed. When this happens to me i just make a fire put some water on and pass one hour. Even when ther is blizzard you can find a spot where u can start a fire and it only takes a few sticks to make it last for one hour. Match spawns are still huge even on loper mode that i play.
