  1. Took me a while to figure out where that is. There is a bear behind you.
  2. I think madness would definitely be a creeping problem for our survivors. People have stripped off and headed out into the snow (or a battlefield) to die irl. It was just having the game effectively stop working for real-time hours that pissed me off. It was not that I could not have reverted to an earlier save to recover from the broken game mechanic. It was the combination of circumstance and programming decisions that broke game play. I was lucky. The aurora came back the following night and I could play again. But that could have taken hours in real time with the game running with a black screen.
  3. I got a one-hit-kill on a bear recently. I ran into him at the north end of TWM. He had me cornered on the high ground in the middle of the top of the map. There was a sloped tree downhill between us so I ran toward the bear to get up on the tree before he got to it. He agroed and reared up as I climbed out of reach and as he reared up I shot him in the underside of the head (in the throat?) with an arrow and he went down thud. I was quite surprised. In principal I agree with the trend in these comments which is never hunt anything from a position of vulnerability. If you cannot ensure your safety, just walk the other way.
  4. OMG! I did not see the bear at first. I thought it was just part of the rock. 😄
  5. In order to get at the two cargo container in the SE of TM I had to kill a bear, a moose and three wolves. I didn’t even bother cooking the wolves. Still I could just hang out and watch it snow in TM for like two months now that the bear and Moose are cooked.
  6. So I have found. I am at the peak right now. Hilariously, I was actually in the tail of the plane when I realized that the cargo containers each have TWO (2) parts. I have only looted one of each elsewhere. At least I noticed without having to climb all the way back up first. LOL Love this game.
  7. That truck blocking the main entrance to Hybernia Processing is the best hunting spot. Shoot, get in, wait, get out, shoot, repeat.
  8. “He was declared to be in debt to every tradesman in the place, and his intrigues, all honoured with the title of seduction, had been extended into every tradesman’s family.” “A tradesman who makes arrows is a fletcher, and one that makes arrowheads is an arrowsmith.” But this player cannot get any new arrows because he has unpayed debts to both, and has been seducing their daughters.
  9. I should point out that my objection was NOT getting stuck in the mine, or even dying. It was a structural game mechanic combination that meant I could not play the game, but instead had to leave the game running with a black screen for hours waiting for death or an aurora. Pass time should not be disabled, even if you cannot sleep.
  10. They were glitched. Not sure why. They went back to normal behaviour later. Wish wolves would chill out like that sometimes.
  11. This would be cool for the next region. https://thumbs.gfycat.com/ImmediateAffectionateCougar-mobile.mp4
  12. I grew up on the Niagara Escarpment. It is very high and steep. You will be shocked to learn that as a child I sometimes went tobogganing. This is a process where you walk up and slide down long steep slopes every few minutes for hours on end until your snow pants are soaked through and beginning to freeze and you have to go home. Today in Timberwolf Mountain I was just standing on such a slope behind the Mountaineer’s Hut, just over the ridge near the edge of the map. Standing still, looking around and *snap* I sprained an ankle. So I limped around the hill and back to the hut and slept for three hours. That cleared one aspect but there was another hour on the other. I passed-time for an hour, but the pain or sprain, time didn’t tick down. So I passed time again… nope. So I slept for another hour and it cleared. It was not thrilling gameplay. You can talk of choices, but there is no way to get to that part of the map without being on the toboggan slope. So choice is not in it. And I am not even averse to the mechanic in a basic way. I have turned my ankle hiking. Hell, somewhere there are photos from the 90’s of my foot looking like a swollen blue and purple corpse bloating. But this is a game and just getting a sprain at random when you are doing nothing that could possibly cause one actually defeats cause and effect, replacing it with dumb luck. And this betrays something odd about the way sprains are calculated. Sprains should not happen when you are standing still. They should not happen unless you have been moving for longer than a minimum time. That way you could actually choose to be careful. Sprains should not happen when you are crouched. That would be a way of being careful that would have a movement cost. Sprains should never happen on small drifts or piles of snow anyone could easily walk over; piles of snow kids would happily play in and on. I should be able to slide down a snowy slope shouting, “yyiiiipppppppeeeeeeeeeeeee!” But the thing here is, hey, some people want the game to be arbitrarily penalizing. Some do not. For the love of TLD, add game save settings to the options, so that sprains can be toggled down or off until the system is fixed. Same for Cabin Fever.
  13. I don’t know what it is, but you should see all the hallucinogenic out-of-reach floating limbs, branches and sticks in my BRR.
  14. For me it is Bleak Inlet. No contest. The ammunition workbench and a milling machine mean I am always headed there anyway. There is more food, bear and moose particularly, than you could ever eat. Rabbits are plentiful. Once you get the lay of the land, you can always choose your ground to harvest timberwolves. You can set up multiple camp fires for as many burners as you like in the Cannery break room. From BI you can make sorties to BRR or wherever for smelting and resources. I recently went up to Mountain town to bring back some pots. And for comfort, you can just walk along the shore from the Cannery to the Worker’s residences and there is as nice a cabin as you could hope for.
  15. I agree that the implementation has problems. See this thread. It can really screw up and break the game. On the other hand, I think something like it is a good idea because, lets face it, I am over 400 days into a run and that character has got to be developing serious mental problems. But if what you are saying is that your character would not be absolutely desperate to go outside and freeze to death rather than sleep in a warm bed by a nice fire. You are correct and it is frustrating. So, after my hours of gameplay with a black screen, I always try if I can to sleep in a car. Where I am at a base, like Bleak Inlet I tend to make a bearskin bedroll and sleep on the ‘porch.’ That is a clumsy unrealistic work-around. I would like to see cabin fever reworked in a patch. But for now, yeah it can be silly. And I feel your pain.
  16. Thanks for pointing that out. I did not notice that I had gotten them switched around.
