  1. When you look the weather forecast in the morning and it says "feels like -26C"
  2. Today (night) I saw a dream about TLD 😅. The location seemed to be near a ravine / canyon - there were two ropes on a cliff. (Over the day I came to conclusion that might have been the place in Ash Canyon where you come down from the gold mine). I was in the canyon and suddenly got attacked by two wolves. I managed to kill one wolf after a struggle, but the other one seemed to be like a unkillable "ghost wolf" that kept attacking afterwards. Creepy. Strange thing is that I haven't played TLD for a week or so (properly). But I did check in after the new update and been watching some videos from Zak about it. The new poisoned wolves look deadly... Maybe the dream was inspired by that.. Only logical explanation I guess. At least it was an interesting adventure dream
  3. Too surreal, but this weather change IRL was more like weather in TLD: In the evening it was a light blizzard. In the morning the blizzard had stopped, it wasn't clear, but gray sky. Before afternoon it cleared up, sun even came out, looked so cozy outside. Then in like 20mins it was thick fog outside, visibility was less than 100m for sure. For me working on computer I had the effect like on one moment it is sunny and one glance later it is full fog mode 😅 All that was missing is some ominous ambient music.
  4. Today when I walked to work it was -7C outside, beautiful morning, sunrise. Little bit of windchill too. Had decent clothing and warm mittens and a beanie. Although it wasn't that bad, still felt "Goddamn freezing" 😅
  5. Last winter I flew a drone outside, wasn't too cold, maybe -10C. I had these mittens that do not have fingertips so I could operate the RC and also touchscreen. (I know there are special gloves for that, but yes) There was some windchill too, but nothing too bad. So I did ca 20min flying session. Since I was so focused on flying and keeping my drone safe and what shots to do, mentally I didn't have the the capacity to think about cold fingers. When I ended the flight, then I realized that my fingers (and hands in general) were very red and sluggish from the cold. Also it hurt later quite a bit, but as I entered the warm car, everything warmed up, after 30min or so. But it still hurt. I just held the hands near my warm body and rubbed them together to get the (warm) blood flowing again. If it had happened to access near a house, I'd put the hands in "cold" tap water and gradually warmed it up by adding warmer water over time. Just the make the temperature difference smaller. Hot tap water on frozen fingers is not good idea, could mess the skin up even more. (F.e you wouldn't pour boiling water in a frozen glass, as it will shatter due to sudden thermal expansion) Also once I had a chance to feel ca -28C, no wind luckily, but as long as I didnt stand still, it was fine (clearing snow, etc). But after 30min or so, my nose felt very cold and had to return inside. Like the insides of the nose started to dry up in the cold or something.
  6. That the challenge is in playing along (or against) Mother Nature. The meaning of the journey itself makes the story and how you need to do basic things to live another day and that again links back to playing along or against Mother Nature. The Choices.
  7. Yep! That's actually what I did in my "Introduce yourself" section. It got guessed quite fast though
  8. Thank you! It was quite a while since I last drew with pencils, so was kind of amazed that it turned out as it did. Should draw maybe more often.
  9. Found this old rusty axe / hatchet head some time ago and thought one day I'll restore it. It was probably my grandfather's at some point, so restoring it would also have some sentimental value to it and nice in general to restore old things to make them useful again. So I took the time to firstly remove the rust - I tried electrolysis as I haven't done it before and wanted to see how it works. Worked surprisingly well. Had it hooked up for ca 2h outside in NaCl solution and 12V car charger. 3-4A of current did a short job of the rust . It needed to be done outside, since the reaction causes otherwise harmful and flammable gases. After that, finished it off with wirebrush and gave it a much needed sharp edge. (Condition went from 30% -> 75% ) For the handle I used a scrap terrace wood piece - it is tough and looks nice, perfect for handle. Sketched the initial shape and then used electric bandsaw to carve it out. After that is was all manual filing and rasping and sanding to give the final shape and looks. Later finished it off with some wood oil to give that nice dark shine to it. Anyhow, then it got to me - I've seen that axe somewhere, oddly familiar to TLD hatchet. I haven't weighed it if it is also 1.5kg, but it feels like it. It was a nice woodworking and metalworking project.
  10. I also had a random urge to draw something, so while being in Ash Canyon, the Angler's Den sparked my inspiration:
  11. After a successful shopping trip and packing groceries in bags - "I need to drop something"
  12. Hehee, nice. Yup, correct - Anglers Den it is in Ash Canyon.
  13. Thanks! Nope, little bit further than Mystery Lake
  14. Hello! Greetings from Estonia. I've been playing TLD for ca 2 years on-and-off, with a modest 132h of playtime in Steam. Started with storymode episodes (can't wait for ep 5) and then started my voyager journey, which I enjoy a lot. So far 51 days in. My goal is to get the cartographer achievement since this topic is close to my heart as I work with maps daily as well. Have also done a few challenges I really enjoy the remoteness of the game and the calm atmosphere, the art style is really amazing and sometimes I just stand there (freezing) to admire the beauty of a sunrise, sunset or aurora. Apart from playing myself, I sometimes watch TLD on youtube while working as background to gather tips and tricks and learn the maps. Once I had a random urge to draw something and I got inspired from TLD. I am not an artist by any means, but just wanted to draw something with simple pencils. Last time I drew something was probably few years ago. Here I'm posting the result, can you guess the location?
  15. Hello! I've been playing TLD for two years or so and after completing storymode up to ep4, which I enjoyed a lot, started my own sandbox run in voyager, so far so good, 51 days in. Going to try harder difficulties too probably some day. Maybe this suggestion is more relevant to lower difficulties where there is a ton of loot, but here is the scenario that triggered the idea: Woke up, did inventory checkup, all good, 10kg under the limit. Good to travel light and loot new places. Looted 2-3 houses - "too heavy". I wonder what are the new items I picked up - wish I could sort by "pick up time". Still plenty of time left, going forward, another building - checking containers - now I have two options - to pick everything up or selectively pick up only the things I actually need to manage carry capacity. But that would mean leaving random things in containers that I will most likely forget in the future and not sure if I looted all. What if there was a third option to when looting a container to "drop to ground"? So the idea is that after a looting trip, the inventory gets full if I want to be thorough, or I have to leave certain things I don't want behind in the containers and later will most likely forget about them when I need them. This made me wonder what if we could also "drop stuff to ground" as third option when looting containers. Then the things that you don't need now don't clog the inventory, but also don't stay hidden in the container, but in plain sight, meaning you have looted the place. Or maybe even more elegant way would be to have an option to sort stuff in inventory based on the time when they were picked up. Or have like a star next to them indicating that they are new in the inventory since they were last opened. Then after looting the whole building, could only drop the newest items on ground and choose what to carry onwards and stay lightweight. Just some ideas. If there is already a solution to this, please let me know (besides playing interloper which has little loot anyhow) Thank you for reading.
