  1. Would you prefer Aurora Bees?🤪 Actually, the Aurora Mosquitoes wouldn't be so bad if you had a hanging bug zapper. I imagine the Aurora powering it, allowing you to hold it like a lantern.
  2. Two words: Aurora Mosquitoes 😋
  3. ...I finally finished Episode I redeux, last weekend. I started strong, going through the game, enjoying the new route to Milton and the revamped conversation mechanic. But then I stopped after Hobbs. It wasn't the decision I faced. -I took the knife out without hesitation, btw. A blizzard rolled in, as soon as I arrived, so I was considering my options, but just stopped. I didn't stop the game, entirely. I messed around on Survival, some, but just didn't come back to Wintermute until recently. Maybe I figured that the overall story wasn't going to significantly change, so I might have had the feeling of "I've done all this already." Pardon the rambling. I've already started Episode II Redeux, and stopped off at the camp office, before moving on to Carter Dam. ...a little jumpy that The Old Bear might make an earlier appearance in the Redeux. -I avoided spoilers as much as possible.
  4. I froze to death in my sleep, on voyageur. I was camping in the wheelhouse of the Riken, which I had done so many times without incident. A blizzard started blowing, as had so many others... I saw my temperature rapidly drop, followed by my health. ...I never awoke.
  5. Thanks. I keep meaning to do a specific reproduction of the Desolation Point lighthouse, but haven't gotten around to it. Actually, woodburning has taken up most of my artistic time, so the oils rarely get used, these days.
  6. Nice work. You're making me want to pull do another. It's been over a year since my last painting: Night Scene in Oil Colors
  7. It's been a while, since I was last here. In fact, this infamous update was fairly recent, back then. I didn't know that it had been adjusted to be less dangerous, so in my new playthrough, I was VERY cautious as I harvested my 1st bear of the game. I built a fire next to it, made sure nothing else was nearby, and quartered it for transport back to base camp. -I succeeded without incident.
  8. He's not dead. He's just resting.😜
  9. A bit late, but here's the 4DON Victory Party. As you can see, Yorik let all that coffee go to his head.
  10. Maybe they were duds. I've shot plenty of surplus 8mm Mauser rounds, and would occasionally have a few fail to fire because the primers went bad.
  11. Maybe seemingly splattered by a storage container. I'd also go for the snowman hit by a car, with the head resting on the hood (not pictured). Nice to see fellow Calvin & Hobbes fans. It makes me want to pull out the old books. Ooooo.... How about a cardboard box with "Duplicator" drawn on the side? -From Scientific Progress goes "Boink!"
  12. That was from the top of the Lookout Tower on the third night of 4DON.
  13. Oops, I mistakenly posted this on the memes thread... The camp office looks so far away.
  14. And I made it. After a celebratory bite of pie, it was time to call it a day. It'd be nice to venture out, but it's getting late.
  15. About 20 minutes to go, but it's time to take the kids trick or treating.
  16. Yeah, I wasted time reading two of those as well as Field Dressing Your Kill on Day 1.
  17. Nice and toasty in the Lookout Tower right now.
  18. I've had that happen before. It has happened once or twice in the main game as well as once for me in 4DON. It looks like a bug, but hasn't hurt me yet.
  19. Two more hours to go until I can attempt to survive two more hours.
  20. Oh, no... We're already dealing with an eerie appearance of random jack-o-lanterns and demon wolves. It's the end of everything. -The Undiscovered Country. All the stars burn out, including our own. The light has gone out in the universe.
  21. Indeed. In fact, I've thought of something more in-line with the title of the game. It's The Long Dark, right? -Not the long blizzard. Not the Howling Snowstorm of the North, but The Silent Apocalypse. So, let's imagine this... Day 1: Unchanged Day 2: Unchanged Day 3: A massive Aurora causes electrical fires in every building. You see the text, "GET OUT" flash on your screen, accompanied by a 5 minute timer. This gives you some time to grab what you can and get out as fires run up the walls. Outside, the sky is even more brightly lit by the Aurora and Aurora wolf packs prowl the land. Find a new place to survive. Day 4: The Silent Apocalypse The aurora fades.... but so do the moon and stars. Total absolute darkness descends upon the world. The only lights left in the world, besides the eerie jack-o-lanterns, are the ones you make. Well.... That and the glowing red eyes of all the wolves. And even if you keep clear of them, the cold steadily intensifies. Can you cling to life? If only for a couple hours more?
  22. This is now my endurance run. My previous long term game came to a sudden end, when I froze to death in the Riken's wheelhouse. I guess a very cold blizzard blew in at just the right direction, while I was asleep. I have finally moved out of Signal Fire cave. Farewell, Baldrick! May you rest in peace. It took a few more days, until the weather was adequate for getting back to the connecting cave to Milton. On the way, I had to sneak past a bear, but thankfully without incident. Tomorrow I'll return to a stash of stuff I left below the signal fire ledge, and ferry it back to the connecting cave. After that, I need to sort through and decide what to carry with me, on my return to Mystery Lake.
