Darn. I went in and out so many times and I missed it... I'm not sure if it's worth the danger of going out to get there and get an autosave far from my well stocked cave.

Here in Italy it's 7 o'clock in the morning when the new "day" begins. I woke up, played a bit, witnessed the change. Then my wife and kids woke up, so I made breakfast (no pancakes, maybe tomorrow) and went to work, so I'll properly play this evening. I'm quite sure there were no pies in ML, anyway.
-
Did anyone find pies?

The day shifted to 4, the flashlight immediately died out, snow started to fall. I'm in my cave with a lot of books to read. Just wondering if all the talk about fire and brimstone will turn out to be some russian hacker's devious scheme.

The closest thing to feeling your way in the dark is to pick something large such as a pelt or a bedroll and "placing" it while moving. The green (or red) mass will show you the shape of the place you're in and the occasional object, not exactly echolocation but better than nothing. And it's not worth calling it an exploit.

Vampireloper, you can only go outside at night. You may want to disable cabin fever for that.

If you have a choice, when using your bow always have your targets to your left. Nothing political, but the character's right hand blocks a significant part of your field of vision.

Just trying to apply logic, since it never happened to me, and if someone has direct experience to report it will be greatly appreciated. The snow shelter is not a physical protection. I guess if a bear is chasing you and you dive into a snow shelter the bear will just pull you out and abuse you as usual. But it makes you harder to detect. The bear in the gif is calmly approaching a bunch of interesting pieces of meat and it almost scorches itself on a fire, so it gets startled and runs away, still unaware of the survivor's presence. If a bear is charging you then hiding behind a campfire is useless (and I personally experienced it), but a calm bear won't walk into the flames just for the hell of it. Or so I think.

Thanks, reverse translation can be bothersome.

I don't remember how they're called, but rabbit spawning areas are marked on maps, and new rabbits appear daily to replace dead ones. There are other places which may have rabbits but they are random, and may have deer or wolves as well.

"Die-die, man things! Horned Rat will rule-rule!" Gulping a smoking piece of warpstone the mighty Grey Seer unleashed his foul magic, summoning a great Vermintide. A boiling writhing wave of bloodthirsty rodents charged at the massed ranks of Altdorf halberdiers. The imperial troops steeled their resolve, bracing themselves for the horrifying attack. Then the unbelievable happened. The squeaking mass of plague infected beasts ground to a halt. A hidden wall of cleverly disguised snares stopped their advance, necks snapped and paws maimed. The obscene sorcery binding their will faded away and the surviving rats scattered in panic. A roaring command echoed from the imperial general. "Charge! For our homes! For mankind! FOR SIGMAR!!" The shocked Grey Seer wasn't fast enough. The courage of Men didn't falter that day. The few surviving skaven fled deep into their filthy tunnels, cursing the Day of trap-field for many years.

Anyway, if you go onto one of the big rocks near the river and light a fire you'll feel warmer, and when you shoot the moose causing it to charge you it will stop a few paces away and turn around exposing its huge flank.
-
I think it's the area near the cat tails roughly at 1750x 2100y, I remember exiting from the side door and going left. anyway, that's the river, look for a swampy area with a big fallen tree.
-
If you leave the barn and head for the river there's a swampy area not far from the bridge. I found one there. And there's a dirty trick to be used with the rocks.

Crazy Challenges/Weird Things you thought of doing
Doc Feral replied to TheRealEBE's topic in General Discussion
The Shaman Challenge. Light a fire (place a torch if indoors), draw a symbol with coal, stones or tinder and leave a ritual offering of food and water near every corpse, and place a wolf skin under him/her. -

Cool, I missed it. -

Funny, my plan was to light several big campfires at the top of the lighthouse and then run down to take a picture and pretend it's working. -
Quick, somebody call Martin Rosen!

What is the 1 thing you enjoy most about The Long Dark?
Doc Feral replied to Ryan CM's topic in Survival Mode
Surviving another day is epic. My colleagues: "my character finally found the Oversized sword of flamboyant titanchopping that gives vampiric strike when paired with the Armour of crimson imperviousness!" Me: "my character managed to craft a bow, four arrows and I have enough wolf pelts for a jacket!" -
Have you considered answering more often to the Wishlist? Some "maybe" "yes" or "no way" would avoid the countless cloned topics about cougars, candles, rabbitskin headgear and so on, for good or for ill.

When I end up clobbering a wolf with an hatchet I patch myself up if needed and then mend the most damaged clothing item, which is a way to pass time. I usually see the wolf running around blurred as I work and then find it dead. A good way to pass time is doing something useful, of course if no other menaces are around.
