Keep in mind, this is a game, not reality folks.  We all need to be reminded of that from time to time (myself included!).

I think we'd get more than a sprained ankle tromping through that in our tennis shoes - we'd be buried!

@Leeanda, don't forget about the ammo box caches in HRV.  Also, Transponder Caches.

Before DLC, good ol' "bunker" would do for prepper caches.  Now that long-standing tradition has been shattered by Tales.

Just an idea:  you could still collect acorns, and when you do have access to a hammer, crack them then.  This is what I do.

It does.  What I did was sprint through to find the fresh air.  I then knew how much time I could explore the gas area before retreating to the fresh area.  Rinse and repeat.

Have you explored other areas of GBI?  Also, there are actually very few areas in which canisters are needed.  You can safely run through most of them.  I fully explored the mines are used maybe 3 or 4 canisters.
