Speaking about the main topic, I haven't got the poisoned affliction just yet. How do the stims help in this situation? Do they reduce the time it takes to heal back, or do they just add 15% max condition back? If so, how much time do they cut off from the recovery process?
One stim will completely remove one application of the affliction. In my case, it took a total of 2.

Because chemical boots aren't repairable, I run through chemical spills in bare feet.
I found a total of 3 pairs - each around 60% condition. I wore them quite a bit and they hardly decayed. Seeing as how this is the only zone in which they are useful, I'd say use 'em!

Are you saying canisters will not drain once you hit fresh air?
That has been my experience.

I figure the homeowner would think it very strange if I knocked on the door and asked if I could do so...
All they could do is say, "No". Worth a try!

Is this true for the Mine Gate key also?
I have found 4 things that require keys, and only two keys found (non-Tales run)SpoilerFrom my recollection, most locks were unlocked during the Tale. I think there was one exception...

When HL is no longer providing content updates to the TLD, I certainly hope they leave us with mod support - that can keep a game going for a long time. Sorry, console users!

This is a delayed function of the decoy mechanic that's been in the game for a long time and it's fairly easy to reproduce.
Whenever you drop smelly things on the ground, whether you use your inventory or the "drop decoy" key, it's considered a decoy if a wolf or bear is in an aggro state and gets close to the dropped item(s). A wolf does not need to be aggroed on you but can aggro on a deer or rabbit, get close to your previously dropped items, and take one. Leaving the region resets it, but I think maybe going indoors overnight does not. I don't know if there are other ways to reset it without leaving the region.
In your case, you had previously dropped the fish outside of the fishing hut. Later, when the aggroed bear came close to the fish, it detected them as a decoy and took one.

There is still the rail in DP. Yes, there is a terminus in ZoC...unless there is super secret underground RR we don't know about yet!

re: Insulated Flask Condition loss -- will double/triple-check the implementation, but the design was for the Flask to only lose Condition from Falls and potentially Struggles. It should not decay naturally, or at least not noticeably.
Good to know. Thanks for the info!

Hmm. Ok, I see what you mean. Gas / fumes + gas mask led me to post this here. Apologies if this is inaccurate.
No worries. Just wanted to clarify the difference. While they are different, the use of the gas mask you are experiencing may still apply to both.

(Posted this elsewhere, but this seems like a more relevant topic to do so)
I really got caught off guard by something that seems strange to me, would love people's opinion on it.... so, I mostly try to save canisters and run through the gas sections of the mine, and will admittedly use most of the count down to suffocation before putting the mask on if I can't reach a safe place. When I do, the affliction is healed, and I wear it until I reach what (I think?) I know as a safe spot. Then I remove the mask, and bam! the countdown starts again, right where it was, at 5 sec. Before I understand what's happening and can put the mask on, I fade into the long dark.
If the affliction is "healed", shouldn't the countdown start "full"..?
Chemical Poisoning is different from suffocation.

The trick to solving any maze is to always turn left. Just hug the left wall, always turn left. Even if it's a dead end, go to the dead end, and keep turning left until you're going back the way you came, just to make sure there isn't some hidden cubby.
Keep turning left. You'll find the way out.
And mark the paths with spray paint, otherwise you may end up going in circles a few times before you figure it out.

I still haven't got the miners flashlight on my long run either...
I hadn't found it either. I did find my first one "somewhere" in ZoC so hopefully you'll find one there too.

I've always assumed that Great Bear was hit by all these tragedies while in the midst of a boom that derailed the island's progress. Power structures like this could have been an infrastructure project that was underway but not finished. Hence the lack of powerlines going to it.
Yes, but didn't Rudiger's project require an immense amount of electricity, not to mention the mining operation itself?
