The dlc was bought out to help fund the company..

You know this for a fact?  Last I heard, they were doing fine with existing sales of TLD base game.

That's a handy one to have, even if it might feel cheesy to some...

I started that run just after the wipe of the old saves, so I've had the cat tails probably for about  650 days...  They didn't start not stacking til the zoc was added though.

Yeah, I would just eat or drop the "old" stack.

The new side run doesn't seem to be having this issue.. they're all stacking just fine...

Odd considering it's a generally bugged run in it's own right 😁

This doesn't surprise me.  On my longest run (before the recent savegame incompatibility change), I had some Antibiotics that were at 0% condition and I could continue to use them over and over (infinite uses).

"With a fishing tackle in your hands, you are a menace to yourself and others. When you do manage to figure out which end of the line the hook goes on, by then it's embedded in your eyeball... or somebody else's. The only way you could catch fish would be by dropping a grenade into a pickle barrel full of them, and even that might not work."

With -100, you would drop the grenade after pulling the pin, blowing up yourself and all those within a 30ft radius.

    Rifle: 8

    Revolver: -13

Sure, I made up my own scale based off in game scale but it seems pretty accurate to me 😂😂.

So, your scale is -100 to 100? ;)

Keep in mind that in game development the devs probably considered how long tools and such would last.  With the intent of a story-driven game, it would not be too hard to imagine them thinking that relatively fragile (quickly used up) tools would push a player to move forward through the story.  Survival mode was an unexpected outcome to the game and I suppose one could say that story mode and survival mode have some issues with how something would or could work in one environment and how it would or could work in a different environment.

I would not mind improvements to the performance of whet stones (i.e. last longer as is or do more within the parameters of current use) or mitigation of the condition loss for some tool usages (i.e. hatchets and knives have a range of condition loss depending on how they were being used).

Something can be improved given environments it would be used in but the devs likely think "it is not broke so do not try to fix it and maybe cause it to break".

Reality vs HL's view of gameplay mechanics.

FYI, the sports bow is no longer a unique item. As of the introduction of The Zone, there are now two of them available on the island, and I think the one in The Zone is always in the same place too, rather than one of several potential spawn sites as it is in FA.

I suppose the same argument could hold for the Miner's Flashlight.  I personally think HL added a 2nd of each because a lot of people weren't getting the 1st spawn.  I still consider them "unique".

though I suppose the heavy hammer which is infinitely repairable does in fact fit that bill.

That was my thought too - and the Fir to repair the hammer is infinite.

  9. TLD is 10 years old now.  Agreed, compared to some modern survival games where there are TONS of craftable items, there is a lot of room for expansion.  Not sure if this will ever come to TLD but I'm hoping it's successor will have this.
