I've just done an admittedly quick re-scout of PV, and haven't seen anything like it.

There are some new additions I have witnessed in Pleasant Valley.

Made predictions about PV expansion in this thread.

a hint: you actually drop down a small ledge to where you see my footprints.  I thought I was going to be trapped at first!

You got me on this one.  Might be in BRR,HRV, or MT but that is just a guess.

    @hozz1235 How about another hint?

Do we smell salt water or deep pine or anything?

  3. Got a glimpse of this cave while I was busy doing something else.

    Kayak Cave

Room for a bedroll and fire that seems windproof.  There is also chimney hole for the smoke to exit.  Snow shelter is not an option.

Spotted this on my to PV.  This hidden spot is opposite the cave that goes from Winding River to Pleasant Valley.

  4. This recently discovered cave is more of a boulder foot.  The boulder rises up and forms the roof and the V floor allows for a wind proof fire.

Long Dark Rocky Mountain Goat Respite

Summit of TWM on the right side of the plane.  If goating then this area could save your life.  Blizzards have hit while I make the summit during a goaterloper run.  Exhausted, frozen, wet and four limb sprained; with health down in the red, stumbling in a blizzard with death reaching, I still pushed on.   The issue I had was not having enough wood to overcome the freeze.  Although making the plane with just a sliver of health the better choice might have been resting here to warm up a coffee or tea. screen_bedc4470-1e23-4f8d-908d-38229eb9dd61_hi.png

  5. Good location @hozz1235 Might stop by and check out the digs tonight as I just found another one in MT recently.

This cranny is not that roomy and if you suffer form vertigo this location might not be the best choice.  A fire and bedroll can be placed, windproof is not guaranteed.

This is near the rope climb in the Milton park.  Getting here is one way and going down hurts.

It’s both a fun quiz and educational.

Thanks, I appreciate that.  The initial reason for starting this thread was to reveal a hidden cave that is more than odd.  Found it maybe within the first six months of picking up the Long Dark.  Been waiting to see if others have come across this unique hidden cave too.  In the meantime I continue searching for additional locations and noting Hidden Cave campsite amenities.

That's because that nook is on TWM, not MT.

    Whoops.  Crashedmountain is TWM

Thinking now I know where this is located.  This would look more familiar if the large log was not missing.  I always pass this spot as I make my way into TWM by heading up and to the right when coming in from PV.

Ive noticed that wildly turning my camera while on a slope seems to increase my chances significantly.

Turning technically moves the character so it is considered "walking".

That is exactly what happened to me.  Now the in game mouse sensitivity has been adjusted and looking is done less with my mouse.   I have been noticing less sprains.

The mouse acceleration could also have an impact but I have not experimented with that yet.

    Wearing boots

Apparently this has no effect.  I was very surprised to learn this.  I do not know too much about Jeff but it seems he is certain.

Does the foot wear affect the probability of an ankle sprain ?

    No. It definitely does not.

  9. I have not started looking in FM, great find.  Since you @hozz1235  found the cave you can name it.  One important notable is in this cave can a snow shelter be constructed to make use of the windproof fire.

Here is another cave I found today.  If you like waking up to the smell of sea water and instead of the sound of a rooster cuck-a-doodle-dooing the wolves are howling than this place might be right for you.

The fire is windproof, the bedroll can be used.  No snow shelter accommodation.

This cave is in Crumbling Highway down on the coast and backside of the cave near the Arch.

Could this be a wolf den?  They patrol not too far from here.

Too bad the snow shelter could not be used as this spot would be great for an interloper with no bedroll heading to/from DP.

In this grass was the only place for a snow shelter that I could find a location for it.

It seems to me I placed a ruined sewing kit in a trash can at Paradise Meadows Farm and it was still there when I went to place more items in the container

It usually vanishes instantaneously when using other containers.  Not certain why the trashcan did not consume the ruined item.  Try to confirm. That could be a bug.

  11. There are times when I have three lantern fuel containers just to add up to .30 l for accelerant,

    screen_3caf54a7-2602-4989-8699-a58f39f8b2c5_hi.thumb.png.fc7982aa1efbce5ede79cbd738ce8889.png

Is the item decay the reason the fuel cannot be combined?  If so just then average them when combing.

If theses Jerry cans would be refillable.

Then why not make it an option to dispense x amount of fuel from the Jerry can into a lantern fuel containers?

have them also completely vanish from the inventory.

Place ruined items into a container and just like magic.  Poof!  Vanished.

    The original fire was super.
