In The Long Dark using bare hands I can:
break sticks, tiny crates, small medium large wooden boxes; tear flesh, guts, hides from a half frozen carcass; shred towels, drapes, curtains; salvage metal from pots, knives, hacksaws, hammers, axes, lanterns, firearms; unstitch shirts, socks, pants, parkas, pea coats, sweaters, scarves, gloves, hats; decobble leather shoes, sneakers, work boots, combat boots, ski boots, trail boots, muk luks.
Rip a pillow with bare hands.
That I cannot do.-

Ranger Cave
This hidden cave was a trap in pre Steadfast Ranger update.
Goated into the area and could not find a way to escape. My curiosity about the cave is what drew my into the trap.
Kept the save and tried it tonight and was surprised when I found an opening. Thanks to team Hinterland.
Freedom!

Does anybody know if the clothing worn (such as footwear) impact the chance of sprain.
It was discussed before the update and no solid conclusion was reached.

so I'd expect to stumble and get a sprain as you did in your situation
The reality was that I was intentionally trying to get a sprain. For scientific experimentation of course.
In fact it took two attempts
Goated up this rock and jumped.
The first attempt failed to sprain.
Goating higher.
Success! A wrist sprain. Now I can test out a bug about not being able to sprint with only a wrist sprain.

Steadfast Ranger update brought an overhaul to the sprain system. The original question might have a different response now.
Does the clothing item being worn by the character affect the probability of sprain?

The ravine logs empty out somewhere else, but I assume they get floated over to log sort, somehow.
There is a bridge over a ravine in broken railroad. This could be the area for another log sort. The lumber coming down from Milton via the Basin, Then there is logging in Forlorn Muskeg and Broken Railroad adding to the numbers. Logs must have been flowing down to the coast from the left side of the map to the right. The urban area could be where a large lumber mill facility exists. Wonder if Nick Adonidas will make a cameo?

Glad you enjoyed it. Added to the list of Canadian Animation.

Been thinking there needs to be a badge for special feats of goating in The Long Dark.
Need to accumulate some impressive feats. All must be done within interloper Mode. Win a Goating Badge.
Long Dark Rocky Mountain Goat Toes and Feats:
- Rescue Fallen Goater in Pleasant Valley
At Signal Hill goat to the body on the ledge and then to the road without losing more than 5% health.
For this challenge you just need to get to the same ledge as the body. It does not always spawn.
- Winding River Carter Hydro No Dam Walk
For this challenge get to the inside of Carter Hydro Dam without crossing the Dam starting from Winding River.
- Timber Wolf Mountain Apex Bonfire
Start from the Mountaineers Hut then climb to the apex of Timberwolf Mountain and light a bonfire that sustains four hours at night.
This is of course one of the hardest to accomplish as the No Ropes rule is in play.
There also should be a Junior Badge where the tasks are less strenuous.
Such as:
- Get to the Bush at Trapper Homestead without losing any health
- Balance on the beam in the barn
- Climb to the top of Harris Rock
This list is not complete yet and I am looking for more suggestions that are a challenge to The Long Dark Rocky Mountain Goat.

The Log Sort that is located in Coastal Highway is at first just another location but lately I began wondering where are those logs coming from and where do they go.
The area before the tunnel is named train unloading. It seems the logs are being delivered down to the log sort.
The road going down to the log sort area splits and can be reasoned that this is to accommodate multiple trucks bringing logs down.
Once the logs are in the log sort area the logs are prepared by binding them into flotilla.
Questions.
Are there logs floating in from other areas on the coast making this log sort a central hub. Where are the tugboats that haul these logs? Where do these logs go from here?
A lumber mill is my guess.
The train tunnel from the unloading zone goes to some other area. Is it bringing logs in or taking them out?
Post your ideas about the lumber industry and help expand on this topic.
And Now For Some Canadian Brand Multi Media
Wonder why this was explored?
It all started when I began speculating on a new region.
After contemplating the map a possible new region is appearing to connect Pleasant Valley, Coastal Highway, and Desolation Point. The roads from Pleasant Valley (End Of The Road) Desolation Point (Broken Bridge) and train tracks from Coastal Highway are converging in this area. Could this be the urban area?

I've just done an admittedly quick re-scout of PV, and haven't seen anything like it.
There are some new additions I have witnessed in Pleasant Valley.
Made predictions about PV expansion in this thread.

a hint: you actually drop down a small ledge to where you see my footprints. I thought I was going to be trapped at first!
You got me on this one. Might be in BRR,HRV, or MT but that is just a guess.
@hozz1235 How about another hint?
Do we smell salt water or deep pine or anything?

Got a glimpse of this cave while I was busy doing something else.
Kayak Cave
Room for a bedroll and fire that seems windproof. There is also chimney hole for the smoke to exit. Snow shelter is not an option.

Goat Scott! Great shot!
I was just here not too long ago. There is another great goating spot above the mine exit near Hibernia. Was planning on a video highlighting the goating in DP for today too.

This recently discovered cave is more of a boulder foot. The boulder rises up and forms the roof and the V floor allows for a wind proof fire.
Long Dark Rocky Mountain Goat Respite
Summit of TWM on the right side of the plane. If goating then this area could save your life. Blizzards have hit while I make the summit during a goaterloper run. Exhausted, frozen, wet and four limb sprained; with health down in the red, stumbling in a blizzard with death reaching, I still pushed on. The issue I had was not having enough wood to overcome the freeze. Although making the plane with just a sliver of health the better choice might have been resting here to warm up a coffee or tea.

Hidden Caves
in General Discussion

Found this yesterday.
Hangover Rock
🛏️ 🐐 🌄
Campfire can be placed and does seem windproof. Bedroll can also be placed.
Takes some goating to access. Has a great view.
