Spelunker's Lantern

Description:  "Rigged for fuel efficiency.  A light for deep, dark places, when other lights go out."

Comparing Spelunker's to Standard:

• Weights are the same
• Light output appears the same
• Ignition times the same

After a brief test with a standard lantern vs. Spelunker's:

• Both equivalent condition
• Both full of lantern fuel
• Pass Time for test
• Standard lantern lasted approx. 3 hours
• Spelunker's lasted approx. 6+ hours.  I'm guessing about 6.5 hours

Significantly more than standard!!!  Besides, it looks way cooler!

My new best friend because I prefer lantern light when exploring over a torch or flare.

That sounds like a real find. I've not found yet, though I've lived the last 30 days in FA, and I suspect I've looted it all by now.

None of the Variants actually spawn in FA AFAIK.

They all spawn in the pre DLC regions.

So I may find those things when I finally depart from Desolation Point.  Nice. 

I expect to spend a long time getting back to a semblance of my pre-update/DLC condition.

It will be my new best friend as soon as I can remember where I left it. I found it early on in my new run but I can't remember where. Maybe Quonset because that is where I started.

Dear Hinterland: please make this available on Interloper

Unlike with the other difficulties maybe put it in the Far Territory, so it's a bit harder to acquire. But this wouldn't alter the balance too much.

It is the best!  I think the light is slightly less sharp at the outer edges, but I'm usually not looking there.

I will just dump all mine in the Quonset along with all my hatchets, knives, can openers, prybars, etc.

@hozz1235You mentioned the new lamp variant weight is same as the common lamp. Where is the image you shared from? I can see the new lamp weights 0 pounds.

At times, I'll use a weight mod.  It was active then.

"A light for deep, dark places, when other lights go out."  Has anyone walked under a waterfall when the lantern was lit?  I know the quote is from LOTR, but still curious if the water douses it like a normal lantern.
