  1. Deerskin gloves. From a mod. It includes Deerskin cloak, bearskin leggins (underwear) and wolfskin hat and boots. Mod Name: Northfolk Clothing Pack by Waltz
  2. Same here but only once in one specific car and a book in Coastal Highway.
  3. I must admit that i was not aware about the hybernation strategy until recently, because i always go for well fed and i dont play interloper calorie burn rate where it seems important to do that, at least at the beginning phase of the game. Furthermore i have to correct myselft about the storable calories in bodyfat by the Hunger Revam mod. It is wrong that i claimed it can last 1 week without eating anything. That was my theoretical assumption that 20.000 stored kcal in bodyfat could last about one week without eating anything if my calorie burn rate is at 3.000 per day at voyager level. Its just a system where you can stretch your food much better. So you can have phases of low calorie consumption and phases where you build up your bodyfat. You will still have to eat something to prevent too much condition loss at night. At least after 2 days, you need a little bit of food so to speak.
  4. There is meat. There are recycled cans. There is a oven. There is a workbench. There are tools. Lets do our own canned food. Worst canned food, but not stinky and longer lasting then uncanned food. I would replace the superstrong poisoning immunity from level 5 cooking by this, which makes anabiotics close to useless rather fast. But eventually i am wrong about the anabiotics and in higher difficulties you have to eat raw meat sometimes. What do you think?
  5. Hunger Revamp i want to mention explicitely. This is the mod which purpose should be to make it impossible to hybernate at 600 kcal a day. But you can eat to store much more kcal, so you have body fat storing your kcal which can last for about 1 week or so before you starve. And at the end it goes very quickly to die from it. You can store 20000 kcal now in bodyfat, which only burns down if you get hungry. If you eat yourself full, your kcal stocks up again over time. The actual kcal burn is still subject to difficulty. But it makes it more realistic i claim and is a nice implementation.
  6. I am using now the following mods and they are all working so far. Better-Fuel-Management (you can now drain Lanterns without scraping them) Better-Night-sky (more realistic moon) Blanket Mod (Default is 5 usable Blankets at 0.6 kg and 1°C for a maximum of 5°C. You can set it, that you can only use 1 blanket at 1 kg with a 3°C bonus like i did. ) Extreme Temp Drop (you can alter your own temp drop times. All vanilla difficulty presets available too. I went for -15° temp drop, which is inbetween stalker and interloper and it starts from day 1 to 200.) Gear Decay Modifier (You set all different things how you like, eg. you can make whetstones loose condition at only 1% per action or to cut down the on use decay for arrows only etc) Kerosen Lamp Tweaks (my Lanterns now burn double as long now: 0.5 modifier) Quick Witted (you can alter skill point encrease of your professions. Mending for example) Sonic Mode (you can change movement speeds. Eg you can make your crouchmovement a little bit faster or normal walking slower) Weight Tweaks (you can change weight of different item categories. Or like me letting the clothing weigh only 50% if you wear them instead of 75%)
  7. You are absolutely right. There should no regrowth then. Stupid idea. I cant believe i didnt think of this lol
  8. A feat that allows you to struggle with bears. Needs alot of struggles with wolves or some survived bear attacks. Or a melee weapon skill to be better at struggles and with lvl 5 to have the opportunity to struggle with bears. Trained only by struggles. Nah, thats crazy.
  9. I claim to know the reason. Because of a new item in Blackrock. Thats for sure. Or you could say, its bulletproof kind of sure.
  10. Make the tinder great again. I fully support tinder as crucial firestarting material. Tinder should be the second most important thing after match i claim. If i could mod, i would have done it already.
  11. Wildlife replenishes, although declining if set higher than pilgrim. I guess no one will experience 0 wildlife just because of decline in population. Birch bark is renewable. Ask someone living in the Barn near the birch forest in Pleasant valley if you dont believe me. Reishi mushrooms, rosehips and cat tail could regrow on a smaller scale after a long period of time. Would give another incentive to visit regions again in the long run. Lets say 360 days after harvesting them, they have a % chance to spawn again. E.g 80/60/40/20 depending of difficulty. 360 days is midgame for long term playthroughs. What do you think? I am a vegetarian. And now its teatime. Poor rabbits. Stones are OP.
  12. Well, i miss most of the time 🏹 ❌ so i have to go vegetarian then, because i will never miss cat tail stalks 🥢.
  13. Another thing which can be cruicial in both ways is bleeding. You bleed much slower, but so do prey. I just tested it against a deer which i hit with 2 arrows (archery lvl1) and the deer is very very very long time running around. I cant thell the exact time but its absolutley too long to be a part of a hunting tactics anymore at 4x length of time. That just kills the "i go hunt and if its not killed with the first shot i find it not so far away eventually by sight or by crows."
  14. @jeffpengThanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Eventually i make a compromise and go for 3x. And you are right. Sprinting is not that much of a concern as i thought.
  15. Conclusion, if there is any ... or better say lets boil it down: Snow is flying around. Water is full of lead. Prepare for weight intoxication. A hammer a day to drink. I really boil too much water which i then carry around like and idiot. Time to farm birch bark. I hope there is a blizzard soon. Pleasant Valley is a birch bark farm really. The main reason i live there more often than not. Around 30 birch barks in one go after high wind phases. 15 teas.
  16. This is somewhat flawed in so far as you can eat dehydrating food while max dehydrated without loosing condition, which is not represented in any way here. This would dimish the importance of hydration and the impact of the deydration of food. Or you can let yourself dehydrate to take some damage but hydrate before sleep to get condition back. Those condition regain settings can be altered by difficulty settings. This is just plain simple kcal per weight ratio including hydration gained or dehydration weight needed to compensate. So this is not a list to be considered a real best to worse. I think this is kind of usless and stupid. But here we go. For example: Salty crackers are 600 kcal at 0.1 weight. They have -20% dehydration effect. 100% full circle of hydration is 0.67 weight. 0.67 x 0.2 = 0.134 hydration weight from water needed to compensate. 0.1 + 0.134 = 0.234 weight of food and the needed water weight to compensate the dehydration. 600 kcal / 0.234 weight = 2564 kcal per combinated weight. (6000 if dehydration is ignored) Tomato Soup is 300 kcal at 0.25 weight. It has +10% hydration effect. Thats 0.67 x 0.1 = 0.067 hydration gain by itself, in other words you save weight equaly to 0.067 weight of water hydration. 0.25 - 0.067 = 0.183 weight 300 kcal / 0.183 weight = 1639 kcal per weight including the gain and therefore saving of additional water hydration weight. (1200 if hydration is ignored) Hydrating Food means saving water weight (second number if hydration effect is ignored): Condensed Milk = 9091 (3000) Sodas = 5102 (1000) Tin of Sardines = 4511 (3000) MRE = 3751 (3500) Airline Chicken = 2864 (2480) Airline Vegetarian = 2567 (2240) Dog Food = 1876 (1667) Tomato Soup = 1639 (1200) Pinnacle Peaches = 1230 (900) Neutral Food: Energy Bar = 5000 Cat Tail Stalk = 3000 Maple Syrup = 2833 Dehydrating Food means additional water weight to compensate (second number if dehydration is ignored): Salty Crackers = 2564 (6000) Granola Bar = 2247 (3000) Pork and Beans = 2116 (2400) Ketchup Chips = 2140 (3000) Beef Jerky = 2096 (3500) Chocolate Bar = 2082 (2500) Peanut Butter = 1687 (1800) As i am really bad in math but like to play with numbers, i got lost on Tea and Coffee and could not do the math there. shame on me Teas and Coffee: 1000 kcal/w and +30% hydration (1250 kcal/w at cooking level 5) Can someone help me stupid?
  17. Will never decay: Cooked Teas and Coffee Salty Crackers Cat Tail Stalk Decay time in days where indoor/outdoor doesnt matter from 100% to ruined: Water Purification Tablets -> 500 days Tin of Coffee -> 1000 days Anabiotics -> 1000 days Painkillers -> 1000 days Herbal Tea -> 1492 days Food best kept indoors: Pinnacle Peaches -> 300 days Sodas -> 598 days Go Energy Drink -> 598 days Pork and Beans -> 751 days Tin of Sardines -> 1492 days Food best kept outdoors: Maple Sirup -> 200 days Peanut Butter -> 200 days Energy Bar -> 239 days Condensed Milk -> 400 days Dog Food -> 598 days Tomato Soup -> 2000 days Granola Bar -> 3030 days MRE -> 3571 days Airline Food -> 3571 days Chocolate/Candy Bar -> 4000 days Ketchup Chips -> 4000 days Beef Jerky -> 10000 days Raw meat outdoor: Rabbit & Wolf -> 30 days Bear -> 40 days Venison & Moose -> 50 days Cooked meat outdoor: Rabbit -> 80 days Wolf & Venison -> 100 days Bear & Moose -> 120 days At level 5 cooking you can ignore that besides using always faster decaying food first to prevent accidantely store ruined food in containers which then would disappear. Above is stalker as base level (100). Interloper 200% Voyager 80% Pilgrim 25% https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Decay Correct me if i am wrong.
  18. Obviously it makes the game easier and exploration faster. At least one exception makes it more difficult. Read more. And please correct me if i am wrong and i would appreciate your impressions about this and other custom settings. In my first 500 days voyager run i needed very roughly between 50 and 100 days to explore a region and to gather close to all items, depending of the size of region and the stage of my supply and equipment progression, as a very slow paced player, including all kind of activities that you can do in this game. I am sure i found around 90% of all items in a given region. In that run i explored and partially lived in ML, MT, PV, TWM, AC, FM, and finally in BI. Some i didnt visit at all. Some regions i only tried to loot and not to live there for long. Like TWM and AC and BI. Now i started a custom survival game and set the length of day multiplier to 4x and needed around 60 days for the first 2 regions i adventured into. CH and PV that was. Seems about ok regarding the time needed to explore most of the region in difference to normal 1x multiplier in my case. Beware that in my first run i didnt know about the landscape, and knowing the region like your pocket is one of the most important things to save time and keeps you out of trouble. So my time to explore and loot a region is much faster now because of just that. Even though it makes the game easier in that aspect, it feels much better in my opinion. Because at 1x you even could consider every second or minute of standing around thinking about routes, items to bring, organize, watching the landscape etc a waste of time. Because time is precious. Its a hassle. You make a trip half distance of a region against the wind and it is nighttime already. I exaggerate here somewhat. There are now 12 major regions in this game to explore, not to mention alot of transition areas and a good amount of caves. I would estimate to need 1000 days to explore and loot the whole island if i want to, not even including to live longer in a region, at 1x lenght of day. That would be 2000 hours RT. Even though i have played a couple of games over 1000 hours in my life, 2000 is too much for me. I know i dont have to discover all corners, loot everthing or hug every stone in every cave. But i cannot leave a region until i know all corners and looted every mushroom (e.g). If i set 4x that would be around 500 hours roughly to cover most of the island. Fair enough for me. Sounds not too short and not too long. Besides this general time consuming effect regading exploration and looting, there are couple of things which also decrease difficulty significantly. Some examples: Torches and Lanterns last 4x as long so to speak (not really but you can walk 4x further with the same torch). You dont need couple of torches to cross a cave as example. Freezing takes 4x as long (iRT, not inGame Time). Effects of Coffee and other drugs the same. As you freeze slower, you also need 4x longer to warm up. But that is simply outplayed by just doing something or just pass time. So no difficulty increase actually. Because you dont loose inGame time. Right? Now there is something i am yet not sure if its different in 1x vs 4x time. But its very critical. That is stamina regeneration. I have the impression that the stamina regenration is also 4x as long. Means that it takes very long to recover stamina after sprinting or climbing, which has the consequence that you cannot sprint so often. And you wont have the opportunity to pass time to do this if you are sprinting away from a wolf to keep more distance or to escape a blizzard. This is the only point which i found to be more difficult in 4x length of time vs 1x. If i am not wrong in my observations. There is certainly more to how this setting is impacting difficulty. But i leave it at those examples and hope for more in depth discussion from other members and gamers. Finally i want to have a setup of custom settings which counter some of those difficulty decreases. One setting which came to my mind was freezing. If you want the impression to fight the temperature, then you have to set freezing rate to at least high, better very high, to make it actually pressing you to look for shelter or even to make a fire, but as i wrote above, not because its getting again dark so fast but because of the cold. I like to have 4 hours in real time to play one day in daylight ingame, but i want to have more real time pressure to escape the cold. I hope this makes sense. Furthermore, one should consider setting world gets colder over time also to higher settings because of faster looting and exploring means better clothing in shorter ingame time. And again there are settings i yet dont know how to set them in regard to 4x length of day multi. That is weather and wind variability. How can i argue about whether or not to change those settings to counter a undesired outcome of 4x length of day multi? Thanks for reading and i appreciate every comment.
  19. Same here. Went down from ultra to lowest setting. Still the same. I cant even make 4 fires. No problem so far on a 12 years old machine. Only the fire thing is disturbing the powerleveling. I think i have to make more singular fires just every day with the lens. A fire here and there. Just for some bottles of water. Just do some fires on sunny days. I am at level 4 half way to level 5 firemaking. Still around 50 books to burn down. Because only now to the way to lvl 5 they are still worth to have. At 5 i stick to sticks. But there should be no books left. I horded EVERY SINGLE BOOK JUST TO BE BURNED. I think i have to go to the doctor. Or the inquisitor. I dont know. Not so ProFix: Make a campfire while you are gathering plants, so wolves cannot attack you from behind (lol). Or make you a fire just when you are eating something IRL (is really relaxing). Or make a fire just to look if there is a high % torch in it. Or make a fire when you got a little bit wet. Or just dont cook the dam whole bear at once.
  20. Thank you all for your comments. I have a blast playing this game. I have to read the wind and the weather. I have to use obstacles to avoid windchill (hug a tree if there is nothing bigger). I have to dry my clothing. I have to avoid carrying to much smelly meat (stalked by 3 wolves while i was carrying 30kg cooked bear meat to supply my outpost). I have to watch my fatigue. I got lost in a fog. I broke into thin ice. I did fall down a rope climb. I was using cat tails for a cat tail trail to find my way home. I read a book while aurora and a bear was running around like crazy (intended?). I was happy of a rabbit nearby because of a wolf stalking me while i was overcumbered (poor rabbit). Once i thought it was a bear, but it was a tree stump. Once i thought it was a wolf but it was a rabbit. I got lost in a cave. I killed my first deer with my first revolver with only having 2 bullets. I survived a blizzard because of 2 storm lanterns and a bearskin sleeping bag and a bearskin coat. I was learning how a simple stone can help you to survive. I had to sleep in a car for 2 nights. And so on and so on. I have still not a single second which was boring. This is it. Day 370. Living in the cave from FM to BI. Waiting to hunt a moose which can spawn nearby. 180 feathers waiting for arrowheads still to be forged. After that i want to make bullets out of my around 100 lead in BI. This will be my final adventure after that i think i will have all my 5 desired feats. Blizzardwalker at around 75%. 130 days to go. @ odizzido Nice you recognized my name for this forum. I choosed Strelok because i love STALKER and i was reminded of it because of the difficulty mode called Stalker in this game. I was playing around 600 hours of STALKER years ago. Specifically Misery and then Call of Misery. One of the greatest games ever played. I lived for days in the NPP and i was hunting chimeras just because i was terrified by them and had to end this.
  21. First of all, thank you all who created this game and all who supported this game by purchase. This is one of the best games i ever played. And i played alot of games the last 20 years. I can play this haunting and amazing game on a 10 years old PC with close to max settings. I play Voyager, day 270 atm. My exploration route has been ML (fully looted, main base) -> MT (fully looted) -> ML (awefull transition back with alot of loot, but learned alot of how to handle climbing and living in the cave between the climbing spots for 1 week) -> PV (partially looted) -> TWM (only rest stop) -> AC (goldmine rush) -> TWM (rest, food, water) -> PV (secondary base, fully looted). My aim atm is to get 5 important features while preparing to set up another base in FM to use the forge. I got the hammer very late in PV. If i get all my 5 desired feats, i will start again on a custom settings to bring me closer to my idea of difficulty, which will end up between voyager and stalker. Now i have some questions which i didnt find any information about. Eventually i didnt search enough though. My questions are the following ones. (I hope my english is good enough) 1. Does walking on snowfree streets encrease walking speed? Because i could swear i am faster on snowfree streets (PV). 2. How is the (basic?) chance to get an injury on steep terrain if i am not fatigued (totally full meter) and not overburdened? 3. At level 5 cooking it seems that the only problem is not to forget that 0% food will vanish if stored in containers? 4. Is anyone using multiple stormlanterns just for the stackable warmth bonus? 5. Does it make sense to break down simple tools if i have enough quality tools for each base i will establish? And if so, does it make sense to use those simple tools first until they are close to break and only then i break them down for scrap metals? 6. Do you ever break down guns? I already broke down 2 out of 7 rifles i found because i thought i only need 1 home defense weapon each base and those i broke down were only at around 30% condition. (Strangely i found much more rifles (7) then revolvers (3)) 7. At which % do you repair you clothing? (Some clothing repair with 50%+ and some only 30%+ and for now i only repair wastefully if i go for long adventures, cant stand wasted cloth, even though i could build 100 snowshelters by now) 8. At level 3 cooking, do you still carry a canopener just to avoid using your knife or other tools? 9. Which tools or items do you always break down if you found multiple ones? 10. Does the rock cache count as an actual indoor container? (because where to put some of those canned foods which like to be indoors (sardines, soda etc), if i am in a outdoor base, like cave or similar) To be continued. Thank you for reading and any comment much appreciated.
