  1. I got the game on switch not too long ago and playing a custom to get a feel for the game. I Made it to PV. Time to explore: www.twitch.tv/Lumistyles
  2. Actually, sorry I was a bad shot, could have had my first Wolf skin. I was leaving the camp lodge to go to the dam and then PV. The wolf started breakfast and I was like ok I will walk up and scare it. The wolf hadn't even had a chance to make a dent in the deer yet. Wolf wasn't moving so I was like ok. Time for a kill shot. Shot my revolver and then it sort of lagged?? I guess. The wolf looks at me like wtf man I'm eating and then runs away. I was so stunned that I didn't go for the second shot. Never hit. Think I aimed too low So.... sorry Wolfie.🤣
  3. Hey! Welcome to the forums. Enjoy your stay.
  4. I make a pile and start lugging it to FM as needed. Plenty of fir and cedar to harvest. Although getting to a shelter where you don't need a fire also a good idea. I save on what resources I can.
  5. The workbench will tell you how much time is left when you select what you want to work on. For example, deerskin pants takes 12.5 hours with a sewing kit. A hook is wayyyy longer. You can also change how long you work the item.
  6. I suppose it depends on your difficulty. I just went through the cave to get to PV and left like 20 pieces behind. Are you playing a harder difficulty because your resources are meant to be lower? Also wouldn't mining the coal yourself be a waste of resources?
  7. I am getting like 6 fish in 3 hours. But yes they are really heavy sometimes. Currently looking for the moose satchel to help with weight. But cool idea.
  8. I don't think it's feasible to ledge grab/jump when you are weighed down in winter gear and supplies. Have you tried putting on that much gear and supplies during the winter? Also Stamina and strength are related to your condition and stats already. If you are tired and in poor condition you have less stamina and strength which results in carrying less/move less. Cleanliness has no bearing really. You are alone in the winter. Most you can hope for is a sponge bath. And there are better things to do in game. A drying rack is also not necessary. Go next to a fire and dry off. A composite bow would be alright. I have like 3 hacksaw, hunting knives, rifles, revolvers etc. Half the fun of the game is resource mgmt. If you blow through your tools and ability to repair them, that's excessive. I am getting close to 70 days with running out.
  9. True. Or maybe do player 1 and player 2 situation on one system. Would work for consoles.
  10. I would say Broken Railroad from the regions I have gone to. I am thinking of heading to Forlorn Muskeg and then Bleak Inlet from there. The Trapper Homestead and Camp Lodge are my main base. My Supplies are split between, and I have supplies at Old Spence's place. The Camp Office is more for gathering fish and a pit stop to gather or drop off. Old Spence is for using the Forge and BR is too far out for me at the moment. I will be lugging supplies back from there to keep in ML for now.
  11. I'm in PEI, I did live in Ontario years ago and still have a lot of fam up that way. That would be really cool to have new regions. Could tie it in with getting off Great Bear Island. Sometimes, I feel like Multiplayer would be feasible. Like someone is Astrid and someone is Will, but that would be a lot of commitment to keep it going on both person's part.
  12. Nice to meet you as well and thanks. Butterflies are cool. I love the different vibrant colors. Thank you ❤️ I am definitely enjoying the forums. Get some good tips, hahah. All good reasons to love Autumn. It seems so calm and peaceful during this time of year. Yeah. I love living in Canada. I've lived in Central Canada to the East Coast, I have never ventured to the West Coast. Where I live we don't have nearly as much scary wildlife, the most dangerous would be Eastern Coyotes, but I live in the city and only foxes are that daring, well, the black/silver fox was. But yes, TLD has definitely helped as a relief from stress. One of the few games I play daily.
  13. I'll stick to my coffee and tea in that case 😛
  14. Ah that's fair. That would definitely be a cool idea to implement. So far my home base is the camp lodge and trappers homestead since they are so close to each other. I have only gone as far as BR so far. To break down supplies and bring back. Having meat that isn't helpful would allow me to make a few less trips.
  15. would there be an added benefit to the drying rack or just a second option so you don't waste wood?
  16. I know and it seems near impossible to get up the slope to get to a prepper cache without suffering an injury due to the brittle bones MacKenzie has. I even emptied my pack. -.-
  17. It's been a long time so I joined a forum for a game, but I am quickly becoming a huge fan of The Long Dark (I play every night before bed since getting it on the Switch). First player games were never a thing for me and add survival on top of that. I hate going out in the cold as it is, and now playing a game that is forever winter, I should cry (autumn is my favorite Season). But something about this game really drew me in. I have so far started story mode (the Old Bear and the Aurora Freak me out, so great job Devs. Well Played!!), started a Pilgrim survival mode and started a No Stress No Threat Custom which is the perfect way to relax after a hard day's work. I've gotten some basics down and have added it to my streams. I do stream on Twitch, and tend to freak out at sudden movements from the wolves and that freaking deer who popped out of nowhere and gave me a heart attack. I swear I am going to kill it . .as soon as I get my aiming down and hunting skills. I have none, nada, zip, zilch. That's why I am doing a No Stress no Threat Custom . Other than that I work a 9-5 job Monday to Friday, have a variety of gaming interests and have met some cool new people who enjoy this game as well that I have learned quite a bit from and I hope to meet more! Sooooo . .Hiiii
  18. What about a space blanket? Something that is small and compact, but can help reduce heat loss. I think this might be useful if you happened upon a Hunter's Blind but then it started to storm and you couldn't safely navigate to the nearest shelter. Edited to add: Crampons I think they are called. They help you with mobility in the snow and ice and hiking poles (I think there are ones that have metal on the end to stick into snow and ice) used for mountaineering. I figured with a lot of mountain region, they would use something like this to keep balance especially when going up a snowy hill.
  19. I'm new to this as well. I got it on Switch when it ported over. Never heard of the game before, and it's not my typical game, but I enjoy this one sooo much. I started with story mode and it took some time to figure things out. I died like 3 times in the beginning and then I created a No Stress no Threat survival mode to learn about each region in a more calm setting. I find both to be very good for learning the game. But I guess it depends what works for you.
