A good airway burn will kill within an hour. It would be realistic for that to happen…and that would go for any predator one did that to. The swelling is massive with those injuries and an airway is only an inch in diameter….

I tend to be very nomadic and get restless easily even in a well set up base. Plus I love outdoor bases. These lengths are kinda really close to my standards. So I will have to give monolith lake a try.

I tend to be on the “wake up and choose violence” side of things in games, this is the least violent game I play, so its always nice to add to my violence repertoire lol

Definitely gonna have to try the counter charge! I get in enough struggles an edge is worth it. Yeah the run has started great, the next chapter will get written tomorrow night when i get home….

Yeah, a bigger stronger bear would likely maul me better, and we do not need that. The game bears already derive 25% of their calories from eating Tiffburgers.

For me knowing that kind of a death is a possibility keeps me from going to sleep….

Offhand the differences are that there are more wolves, which was expected, they do more damage per attack (I do play with condition as a resource), and although there is still plenty of loot, it is significantly less than voyageur. There are specifically many more empty containers. Weather seems the same.

Im currently on vacation but on leaving I was 17 days in and off to a good start. Spawned in the middle of the night in mystery lake but fortunately I recognized the area of woods by the hills and valleys as being near the trappers cabin. The trappers cabin held a simple parka, toque, work pants, and a rifle along with 4 rounds. That was a nice surprise. So now i got moderately good clothes and am weighing a relocation. Havent decided where to yet. Maybe CH and DP, cause its been a while.

For me, the fun of the game is how even when you think things are going great, they can go south really fast with just a little bad luck and sub optimal decision making. I want a challenge, but not at every single part of the game, which is why interloper doesnt really appeal to me. Plus I like a basic level of realism, and not having guns or any decent loot violates that for me. So I want to try it where the predators are leveled up, as that is the natural best way to do that IMO. I like that maybe the cold will factor in faster too.

I wish they would do a halloween special again. Those were fun.

This has happened a lot for me, and is frustrating AF. Ive started passing time for a few minutes to trigger a save, which seems to work very reliably.

When im not rage shooting them, i.e. i see them coming, I shoot it from as far away as possible, so it just gets scared if I dont get lucky with an insta kill. Down side is i lise well over half to “ran into the woods and disappeared”

I tend to not use flares much, and as a result have a ton of them every play through. I love the revolver and love killing wolves with them.

Never rage shoot bears that just mauled you expecting RNG to give you a kill. Especially after the second mauling. Just stop the blood loss and move on. Trust me. Never assume your survivor is well prepared enough that you cannot be killed by one crappy decision. Because you can. Particularly by rage shooting bears. Never assume you can shoot 3 wolves just outside the PV farmhouse and harvest them in peace and in proximity to cooking facilities, because you ABSOLUTELY can get mauled by a bear while doing so. And if it happens, never rage shoot the bear. Not that I’ve ever done…oh well, I absolutely did that.

So after around 7 years of playing voyageur and custom games slightly more difficult I have finally decided to do stalker runs. My first one has me located in mystery lake, where I have had the good fortune to spawn near the trappers cabin which conveniently held a rifle. My question is what are some of the things yall wish you had known when you made the leap? Any lessons you can give that prevent me from once again becoming a tiffalicious bear snack (or wolf) would be appreciated 🦋

This wins. A couple more…yeeting your torch or flare into a random corner of a room when done with it, then going to sleep on the floor or bed without care of the horrible fire hazard. washing down your rancid lake whitefish with toilet water, cause you just dodged food poisoning and its time to celebrate baby!

I began as a kid, mid 80s, but had only consoles from 1998 to present, so i missed the pc games for a long time. Thats why i missed fallout 1&2. I wish fallout 5 existed. Maybe the one game that could tear me away from tld currently….
