  1. Since it's a month-long event it had to be pretty substantial.
  2. In my first screenshot (on mobile) the "WINTER'S EMBRACE" text is a link but is normal style as the rest of the text. 2nd screenshot is the link when activated. I'm being 50% cheeky, but it is a small accessibility issue.
  3. Links should not look exactly like the surrounding text. This is an accessibility concern. Do you not want anyone to ever click it? Is it an easter egg hunt for the mouse? Do you hate mobile users? 🤣 If you need a new contract web dev... I freelance. 😊👩‍💻🇨🇦
  4. There are definitely too many wolves. They make it difficult sometime to explore. I feel that they are being used as a stop-gap for a lack of environmental hazzards (other than the cold). Hear me out... In no way do I want the game to be easier. However the wolves are so frequent that it becomes an annoying repeat 'challenge' - either go around them or engage, shoot in the face & move on. I end up chewing through ammo not hunting, but just getting wolves out of my way so I can explore. They are so frequent that even on my first sandbox run I'm pretty good at defeating them & not really scared. Instead there needs to be more variety in environmental hazards other than wolves. For example Forlorn Muskeg is fun because of the added 'challenge' of thin ice. I'm not entirely sure of what those could be... maybe avalanches when near rock faces? Falling tree limbs that could land on you (an actual danger in snowy Canadian winters)? Other wildlife? Deep snow drifts that slow you down & soak your clothes? Anyway. My point is that wolves are annoyingly frequent in my Voyager sandbox & I just want to explore - not safely & easily - just more variety in environmental danger.
  5. Wow, you are totally missing the point of his channel's TLD series. He's not min-maxing his play to squeeze every inch of efficiency out of the game. He's trying to make enjoyable content for viewers. And that means not staying put in one place for too long, and often just heading where the mood takes him. It's also VERY hard to concentrate on gameplay while also speaking coherent & interesting commentary, jokes, stories & anecdotes into the microphone. I find his videos & commentary very relaxing & enjoyable & bingeing them has been a nice escape during quarantine. Do I find myself shouting something he missed into the screen? Sure. "You missed the knife @Hadrian! The knife aarrggghhh! LOL!" That's half the charm! I for one as someone only on my first survival run ~130 days on Voyager... have learned from his videos: how to effectively hunt wolves. To not be afraid of some calculated condition loss. And that sometimes travelling encumbered is worth it. And he travels so much ground in each season that I'm learning a lot of the maps. I'm a fan. Clearly. 🤣
  6. I just landed 4 or 5 rifle shots on the bear N of Mystery Lake. Still charging so I ducked in a cabin to sleep for an hour. Came out & he was still walking around outside. Had to quit for dinner but when I reloaded my save & exited the cabin... that time he was dead on the ice. Weird.
  7. I agree. Having fun in the colder weather & working for the 25 days... but I have no desire to run multiple saves to get syrup. As a voyager player (so far) the extra challenge of the bitter cold is quite fun though.
  8. Scoured most of ML so far and only found one or two syrups. Going to ignore that badge.
  9. It's common at parties to get a Crush rainbow pack that has orange & grape crush & cream soda. And ketchup chips are popular. I'm positive I've eaten this combo a few times. Though not intentionally mixing the flavours. LOL
  10. You know you've made it as a fictional universe, when fanfic starts popping up! 🤣 https://archiveofourown.org/tags/The Long Dark (Video Game)/works
  11. Wow! Awesome. Yes we cut the cable cord years ago, no regrets. Replaced a $90 cable bill with Netflix and occasional rentals via Google Play. And we'll subscribe to Crave or AmazonPrime for one month at a time to binge a particular show or two. Now with the kids getting more into the Switch and gaming, the value of games have really jumped up. A family of 5 enjoying a $30 MineCraft purchase is awesome.
  12. As software developer myself, I'm also pretty impressed by this. Way to be Agile, Hinterland! 👍
  13. Sorry to resurrect an old thread... but I would absolutely LOVE something like this. Did anyone end up doing this?
  14. This is definitely forcing me to learn some new tricks, like chaining torches. Things I haven't had to do yet since I'm ~125 days into my first Survival run on Voyager. Trying to channel the techniques of @Hadrian (been bingeing his TLD series)... like accepting some condition loss knowing I'll recuperate it at night. Feels like this is a stepping stone from Voyager to Stalker maybe?
  15. I have almost 180 hours into TLD. I paid $13.59 CAD on sale. That's less than 8 cents per hour of entertainment! Whew. You can't beat video games for economical fun. 😁
  16. If it wasn't possible, then the game would just be 90% gathering firewood. No thanks. 🤣🔥
  17. Ooof I've had a rough go of it, it's definitely harder than I'm used to on Voyager. But I'm 6 days in & half looted ML & am finally outfitted enough that I'm not freezing indoors. Wolves *everywhere*. But I'm clinging to life!! 😁 Is this mostly on par with Stalker difficulty other than the weather?
  18. I am convinced there is some intentional code in there that predicts which direction you'll go next, and increases the odds that it will blow against you. Could even be as simple as - is the player on the east side of the map? They will probably go west next. Too many coincedences to be random. And if you build a fire on the sheltered side of a building, of course the wind eventually shifts around to get you. Heck, if I was making a punishing survival game I'd program it like that! 🤣
  19. So... I just finished making 5 trips between the PV Outbuildings barn... and Molly's farmhouse as I had changed my choice of 'base' for PV. In my opinion a sled would only make sense if it was very slow. It would not allow you to accomplish anything you couldn't do without it by repeat trips... it would only save you the repetition boredom of repeating a trip. One, very slow trip with a sled would have been less boring than 5 fast trips, even if the total time was similar. Or maybe make the trip half as fast... but crafting the sled take a huge amount of supplies & time? Really though, I doubt this will ever be added to the game.
  20. If the world gets colder & animal respawns are reduced "over time" .... is there a cap to this? Ie at a certain # of days can I assume I'm at the worst it will get? Is there a estimate like "At 100 days you are at 50% colder" or something like that?
  21. Totally agree. I find the newer Fallouts to be a bit too combat-dense.
  22. It's cool how he describes how many 'non gamers' love this game. I've been a gamer all my life, but never drawn to hyper competitive games (other than a billion hours on Goldeneye with friends as a teen).... and I also share the complete love for Fallout - mainly the exploration and not so much the combat. In most games whether it's Bioshock, Fallout, Breath of the Wild.... that feeling of not knowing what's around the next bend... of seeing something I've never seen before. Of learning about this strange world I'm in... has always been the main draw for me in games. And I'm at my happiest when a game has deep, wide-open exploration combined with some level of challenge and small goals to achieve. TLD has all those things while not having much in the way of goals/quests... however I loved doing them in Wintermute and in Survival I just give myself goals to work toward. Anyway.... wonderful game- hits a sweet spot for me. That interview was very eye-opening. I really think that the game doesn't need much in the way of more 'features'. However a pack of new regions would be great - I'd even pay for it as a paid add-on because they must be hitting a saturation point for this game in terms of new sales. And I'd be happy to pay for new content.
