  1. I am coward. I always shoot bear from vicinity of car, fishing hut. Some porches may work too, but I dont rely on them. If you can find a tree you can walk on, it is nice too.

About the bug bear not bleeding when you enter inside. Is it still there? I know I encountered it while ago, but the last bear I got on the Ash Canyon: I shot him from vicinity of the workshop and went inside as he didnt like it. Found him later dead.

  2. @piddy3825Nice work. It could be like that.  Maybe it is just the brain playng games with me because when you are on the Winding river side, you can see the height of the dam. When you are on the Mystery Lake side, you have no such thing.

When you enter from the ML, you go down to enter turbine room. If the turbines are not under the river going from dam to the Mystery Lake, you are right.

  3. I think the water flows from the Mystery lake through the dam and then to the WInding river. You need height difference mainly for producing electrocity. And looking on the outer dam side, there is enough height. Plus you need steady input of water. We dont know how rich are Mystery Lake inflows.

I think there was a waterfall, which has been converted to powerplant. But when you have such small water amount before the dam, why is the dam so large? The amount of the water cannot be big if you check the terrain from the train bridge.

If the powerplant is kinda "we take all water we can get", the dam building has no sense. But I think there is information, there was a seismic activity before the collapse and some after. Maybe the reservoir was bigger...

  4. These are timberwolf. They act diferently from common wolfes. They stalk the character and bites. As written above, you have to deplete their moral by shooting or throwing rocks. Marine flares are usefull too.

I have seen a video from BI where one of these attacked the common way. I think packs have an alpha wolf who does it.

If its a bug its a weird one! Anyone asked htl?

Nope. I have seen it only twice and it was looong time ago. Second was bear in CH. It fell near ridge besides the highway.

  6. I have seen possible explanation. But it was loong time ago. It was on the bridge before the dam in Mystery Lake. I was coming to the dam rifle ready, because of the pesky bridge keeper. I heard bark and then I saw the wolf. It was falling from the sky. It missed the bridge edge and fell down to the river. It was dead on the spot.

I remember I was coming from the loading area. So it was nothing like I was entering map from a building or something. So the wolf was spawned when I was already on the map.

So maybe new spawn wolf, but the Z-axe was wrong? It seems like the game is computing fall damage for animals as well.

  7. I know I should be safe-ish in ice caves. If Fluffy or Scruffy are not present. But for now I have to sleep in open caves without loading screen. To be honest I got mauled during sleep only once. It was during Dark Walker event. And it was not in cave.

All my previous runs ended because I was reckles. I want this one over 500 days. Maybe 1000.

  8. So basically I should be more or less safe in the cave for example on Monolith Cave. It is pretty far from wolf and bear territory. And I definitelly will not go sleep if pursued. I usually dont keep fire whole night. It is voyager difficulty and my clothing is enough to keep me above freezing even during blizzard. The other question is if moose can wander in. I have seen scrapings, but no moose yet.

Funny thing. I have checked the temperature "map" in the cave. There are some strange changes. Usually the place far back is the warmest. Not this one. There is cold outsidish place. Then there is warm place right behind the inner-outer line. It is followed by slightly warm zone and then the back of the cave is cold.

I will try to explore ice caves again. But real life happens and I have to spend 3 weeks without TLD.

  9. @CrankyThank you. I did not looked for path. Just little confidence boost. I would do it anyway. Maybe after day 500 in my current run. Or spawn new survivor (but it is no such fun to have one purpose goat).

@Sus-wolf You are in TWM? Me too. So that has to be your fire I saw smoke. :D

  10. Hmm I had to be doing something wrong or my game is bugged. I literally went through one which has one entry right north from Long Shot Falls with my sleeping bag in front of me. It cost me almost whole lamp of oil. And found no spot. The bag was sliding under some ice blocks sometimes. Was even in some bigger caverns, which should be enough, but no luck.

True is my current game started well before the Ash Canyon and 3rd story part was released. I am this kind of player :D . I can see some artifacts from landscape moving in other maps.

  11. After long time playing I decided it is time to try long time life in the HRV. My previous visits were just in and out with very little sleeping. Now I am trying to explore it more. So I went to the ice cave one evening, thinking I would be able to sleep inside. I searched here and there inside, but I was not able to put sleeping bag anywhere inside. I had to go out and find another cave, common one.

So the question is: Is this by design? Was it like this all the time? I was not able to find any information here.

P.S. I was able to cope with disorientation in Ash Canyon pretty well. But HRV is harder for me. No doubt I will became more oriented after while. But for now it is hard. For example I was aiming for the mysterious fire from the start. I could see a smoke near Many Falls Vista. So I thought, it is easy. How I ended in Monolith lake I dont know.

  12. I regret to say, the Dusty is no more with us. I let him play outside for a night. When I called him second day, no response. I went back to our place where we hunted down our first deer together. And found him stone cold laying on the snow. It should warn me that when I was leaving, he was somewhat frozen.
