  1. Old Bear's lair. Now everything makes sense. That huge face in the stone is like a "Great Old Ones worshipping temple - leave your human sacrifices near the bloodstained boulder" sign. By the way, the bear cave part is the MOST OBSCENELY BORING PIECE OF FRUSTRATING REPETITIVENESS I'VE EVER FOUND IN A VIDEOGAME. I'm really considering disinstallation.
  2. Finally it's in sight! Ok, I definitely need to hurry. Easier said than done. I was overencumbered and you may notice the image is a bit tilted sidewards, I had a sprained ankle too. Returning from the spear quest.
  3. I checked once (before the redux) and the time difference in boiling water was none or negligible. I mean, two liters of water in a pot take the same time of four cans, even if it ends up being faster because you don't have to click on the can to empty it and fill it up again. But then again, melting and boiling two liters of water take eighty-something minutes, allowing you to carelessly sleep for an hour or make lengthy activities such as breaking crates, harvesting footwear, repairing large clothes and so on. Cooking meat in a pot is faster than cooking it on bare cooking slots. When it comes to teas and coffee, on the other hand, pots are disappointing because you can't simultaneously make four cups' worth of tea, but always one at a time.
  4. I remember taking everything, if you leave firewood and water behind you can take all boxes. Not that it matters, I've never found that flare gun. It's probably meant to be a tutorial about weight management. Maybe the game won't let you leave without the case.
  5. It was there before in Wintermute and survival as well, but in predux Wintermute we could hear Will commenting about it.
  6. No, if the fire lasts just enough to shred it to bits AND DROP THEM. When the fire dies you'll have a pile of steaks on the ground so they'll last long in the cold outdoors. That's how I killed my first moose. Funny story, and not as easy as I thought. Search for "carpenter moose".
  7. After almost losing my mind in acrobatic efforts to grab them from different angles I figured out they are meant to be spent shells. Nice idea to add flavour to the hunter's blind, but please Hinterland, if they're spent they shouldn't have the tip!
  8. Not exactly a screenshot, but how am I supposed to play now?!
  9. Killed him. Didn't get to take the knife. Loaded previous save. Pulled the knife out. Still no knife. By the bristly whiskers of Hello Kitty's grandpa, it must be a bad joke! I decided to quit without saving, tomorrow I'll probably finish him anyway. I just don't want the creep to get off the couch and kill me in my sleep, and he'd probably start to gurgle breathing anyway, which is gross.
  10. Something I noticed: a jerry can self destructs when emptied! I refilled a lantern with an almost empty jerry can and it disappeared from my inventory. I immediately cooked a fish and a tiny bottle appeared. As unpractical as they may be, jerry cans look nice in a base, so if you hold them dear always leave some fuel in them.
  11. That's rather deep but it didn't hit the mark. Every player has a different playing style, but characters are all the same. Going back to my weird self, it's not like my characters can go around with a knife always at the ready and slash wolves' throats in midair before the struggle starts. Luckily wild dog attacks are not frequent in my neighborhood, anyway.
  12. Good thing you pointed that out. A teenager with NO access to technology would develop cabin fever 5x faster, and "passing time" will count for it as well even if outdoors. Time spent indoors during an aurora, surrounded by hopelessly fragged flashing computers would count as 10x for cabin fever purpose. This could wear out after a couple of full fledged cabin fever episodes.
  13. This could be lead to character classes, with wildly different skill sets. Take me. I'm 42, I'm a kali escrima instructor, with a university degree in natural sciences and train in mma six hours per week. I'm slightly better than average at diy, but I don't know jack about guns and can barely sow a button on a shirt. I could fit in the "barbarian" class. There are people here with extensive knowledge of guns, there are medics and all kind of people with different skills. Adding the age variety would lead to a slippery slope AND I'D LOVE IT!
  14. Relax. He meant he usually plays 3rd person videogames, not games of TLD. 3rd person allows a safer view of the surroundings. Don't ask me anyway, I always played strategic games, preferably turn based...
  15. Once the weight becomes immobilizing the complaints stop. Probably thinking "having fun, huh?" I'm on Stalker, left most firewood and books behind. Probably most plants had already been processed. And another nice load is waiting at the Orca station, or at the park office, I'm not sure...
  16. I finished looting Milton. I didn't know improvised tools could be found. Maybe I shouldn't carry ALL of this back to Mistery Lake... I'm trying to imagine how would it feel to load 169,55 kgs in a backpack and then realizing "Too heavy, can't move"...
  17. Rest in peace, little one. Future travellers will be able to light a fire to warm themselves a bit, and read a prayer from the book.
  18. I agree. They were pretty generic badges, they could reasonably be repeated next time. Maybe the next Halloween event could include more specific challenges such as "Wendigo: eat a total of 5kgs or more of meat from at least 3 corpses" or something like that.
  19. Conspiracy theory: it's a test for cougars. Kitty stole your prey and dragged it onto a tree so it can't be stolen by other predators. I know that should be leopard behaviour, but it's just another conspiracy.
  20. It's the Muskeg tunnel, and the picnic tutorial was near the tower.
  21. The aurora from a tunnel looks scary indeed. but someone showed style in camping, I wonder how the date went.
  22. Now that 4DON is over (and by the way, I WANT THAT HOOD!)
  23. My rocky home with book collection, just a couple of flares and my really silent doorman. TheLongDark 31_10_2018 13_05_38.mp4
  24. Darn. I went in and out so many times and I missed it... I'm not sure if it's worth the danger of going out to get there and get an autosave far from my well stocked cave.
