  1. Hmm...this contradicts the wiki. Wonder if it needs to be updated?
  2. I don't think he was referring to making the progression (less skill points needed) to level 5 easier (can't do that as far as I know), but instead, factors that could contribute to having the materials to get there.
  3. Nope, just mending existing clothes. Since you have so few clothing items to mend, and if you have an abundance of cloth, you can just mend anytime something drops below 100%... As a side note, there is so much cloth available in the game (curtains, couches, etc.) you should save numerous "backup" clothing items (e.g. I have about 10 pairs of socks that I will not break down). This is especially true for items which suffer struggle damage. Then again, there are craftable counterparts for most of those.
  4. Looks like 100 fish needed from 4 to 5: https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Ice_Fishing And 50 hits from 4 to 5 for rifle: https://thelongdark.fandom.com/wiki/Rifle_Firearm
  5. Poll done. Once I finished WM (all optional objectives met, all caches found, etc.), I switched back to SV. I could see playing WM beyond the story once all episodes are done and all content is unlocked in that mode. My current objectives are: finding all buffer memories (7 left to go!) and locating all cairns. When I find a cairn, I am also taking a screenshot of where I am on the map and naming that jpg the # of the cairn. I hope to publish that someday/month/year!
  6. Here's one for ya...I call it "Crouch Cave". Most sheltered cave I've ever seen. Where is it?
  7. Welcome to the forums, @Brenduh! Have you tried restoring to an earlier save? If none of that works, I'd go with a bug report.
  8. Cooking in pots will also increase the time it takes to burn something by 20% while decreasing the amount of time to cook something by 20%.
  9. I highly doubt the effect is any different. I also doubt the cooking time is different.
  10. What is Hinterland's take on Mods? I know they are not currently supported and we are discouraged from using them due to the headache from supporting modded games. Do you have plans to support mods? Perhaps a Hinterland-sanctioned mod kit? I've seen some pretty cool ones that address many requested changes the community has asked for.
  11. And you, FM cave, shall be known as "The Niche". I know I can make a fire, but didn't try a snow shelter. Nope, couldn't fit a shelter in the small space, but may not need one unless you have just the perfect wind direction coming in. Why, oh why couldn't I hang a bear hide over the entry?
  12. Found this one on my 800+ day run (love still finding new things!). I've circled the location on the map.
  13. I'm guessing it will unlock, but one way to find out - finish Archivist!
  14. I have an old Survival game (on day 740) and I've noticed that the placement of certain objects are different than more recent Survival games (e.g. the truck outside CHD is in a different place, items in the Camp Office, etc.). How is it you preserve those "earlier versions of the game" in recent versions?
  15. Depending upon your Wintermute difficulty level, you may not have to hunt at all (plenty of loot). Save those bullets to fend off wolves (as a last resort).
  16. Funny I see this post sitting at the top because I was just about to comment on the rope. My Father is new to the game and has misplaced his rope in Milton. This is a game-breaker for him and will need to restart unless he can find out where he stored it. Hmm...unless I can show him how to goat down...not sure if that is possible...
  17. Welcome to the forums, @jrbluto! I'm sure Hinterland will address this quickly when they get back. Try survival mode while you wait (or a challenge)
  18. Sounds like he has found the spear.
  19. Hmm...getting labelled a psychpath or obtaining a tool that may save my life...hmm...tough choice.
  20. That was my dominant thought, which is why I pulled it.
  21. Entertaining read! Would have been fun to watch you streaming it. Many of us are so familiar with the game now, we know what's around every twist and turn, where the shelters are, etc. I envy those playing for the first time and discovering all the wonderful things TLD has to offer. Don't rush into loper - find a challenge you enjoy and do that. I play custom games 100% of the time now to keep it interesting. Have fun.
