  1. Don't walk with a smiley face into blizzards to get the 'Blizzard Walker' feat.. there are more sensible ways...
  2. Beachcombing, I still get the shivers.. maybe I'll give it another go with my shiny new crampons.. And yes, take my clothes off.. and have a fire nearby!
  3. Outdoors walking is silky smooth, no micro stutters anymore; was this a Unity update or did HL optimize something? Stutters have been in the game since I don't know how long? One of the explanations was animal-pathing? (No hardware-changes from my side, btw)
  4. There was a mod where one could break down cans into scrap metal, seems logical, no?
  5. Most HL reactions are to Steam and Reddit. Most ideas here are (sorry to say) below par.. (Rocket Launchers..) Best ideas are ignored: HL supported modding, ruined meat is actually RUINED, water management, fishing hut at DP and/or BR, binoculairs, etc etc. Wish List, just another ignored sub-forum..
  6. It's just been patched, apparently. (was glitched) Footsteps are too loud for me, waterfalls.. (might also need a tweak)
  7. After walking in a blizzard multiple times (undressed..) I finally realized that staying in a fishing hut or snow shelter and cave counts as outdoors... Coffee Feat is exploitable, someone mentioned that in an earlier post, needs fixing. CH Fishing Camp is less safe than before the Update.. Darn wolves! (On Voyager, no less!.. try to get those Feats done with) All in all love the new wolves AI, I might be in the minority, though!
  8. I'm sure GoG must be devastated.. How are they gonna survive without Hinterland? Weird that other games in my library get patched the same day as Steam, 2 days max.. must be GoG's fault, eh?
  9. So we don't matter, good luck with your 'vision' ! Edit: Grim Dawn was patched the same day as steam was.. Survival mode has jumped the shark, btw.
  10. 30 fps might prove too difficult, even on a pretty good PC locked at 60 (not Vsync but via RTSS Gsync) it's not easy, hope Hinterland come up with a solution.. even a QTE might work.. (not a fan of QTE, but eh..)
  11. I only carry a rifle when I go Moose or Bear hunting, for wolves I use a Bow (with decoy..) I only carry 6 cat tails while travelling, unless I come across them.. Ravine etc... Always carry a Crow Bar when venturing into a new region.. and that bow with 4-6 arrows. About 3 Liters of water when travelling, maybe a pot, usually 2 cans, though. 5 cloth is useful, I mostly forget about that one
  12. Don't think a revolver adds to survivability, but 'due to popular request' I understand. Animations is a Big Thing, imagine wildlife not turning on a dime.. (AI might need a tweak where deer don't run towards you..) Wolves listening after they hear a sound actually has an impact, it makes me hold my breath! Rabbits atm not so much Just keep it Hardcore Survival please!
  13. Fish. (just to be different..) Short cooking times, lotsa calories (salty types) and oil! And tasty when seasoned..
  14. Just found out today: (hangs head in shame..) If like me... you are as obsessive as I am where to put what clothing item in what slot, and you have to select "next" for your preferenced underwear to go to the inner slot! Just drop the 'second choice' on the floor and pick it up. The game will 'remember' from now on your preferred clothing as first choice. Example: You have a satchel and an ear wrap, you want to put on the satchel not the wrap that the game might chose for you... Drop the wrap and pick it up; From now on your first choice for the slot will be the satchel.
  15. (Bit late, sorry!) Not certain about a container.. can test it on a corpse outside ML CO (bit gross..) Or store food in the trunk of the car outside the PV farmhouse? I can test it, or you can test it or we all can test it!
  16. At Quonset I always pass time or sleep in a car.
  17. Let me start with mentioning what I don't like about TLD: It's addictive and I literally lose sleep. Getting to the summit recently was stressful, satisfying and draining.. as if I've conquered Everest for real. Now, what do I like? Ambience, that includes sounds (oh so important in this game) music (seriously, an indie dev with one of the best in-game music?), the feeling of being lost during a sudden pea soup fog: I think I know ML enough by looking at a tree and thinking "Okay, I know where I am"; Well, fugget about it during zero visibility! Improvisation skills needed when caught off guard: Blizzards, close bear encounters (I don't count wolves) the pea soup, getting in unkown territory without a bedroll, finding saplings and no way to harvest them ( I don't count that as a minus, more as an "Ah, crap what stupid of me" experience.. I like that -if I choose so- can play TLD as a walking sim (Don't hate me), to some extent (not interloper, obviously). I like hoarding, I like finding supreme clothing when you don't expect it, I like the new cooking, I like it when the sun shines in the morning just as much as I like to look at blizzards from a snow shelter while enjoying a beer. I like the caves, I like the vistas at sunset or dawn, the auroras (and Bach on the radio!), the satisfaction of reaching home base at 10% health. I like it that TLD makes me feel alive, ironically.
  18. First off.. I probably took more screenshots from TLD than from The Witcher 3 ! (That game has the most gorgeous sunsets and facial features, though) First an oldie (I was crouched while taking this screenie..) Moose flirting with a bear, no points for guessing the location! And a recent one; It can be nice weather at PV, see? You're all invited for dinner! (Bring your own beer and whine, I have plenty of water stored, about 60 liters.. and some sodas) And here's one example of the really nice facial expressions of Witcher 3.. j/k
  19. If you're a new player setting up base at the PV farmhouse (..wait, what?) you store your meat outside, as one does. If there's a blizzard (...) and you want to get some sleep with a full stomach you have few choices: Take off your clothes and sing and dance in -70C while getting your cooked (hopefully) steak! Or you can 'store' meat on the porch, enjoy the blizzard's sound and just be in awe while safe! (Don't get nekkid on the porch, please..) I actually didn't know that meat stored at the porch has the same decay rate as meat stored outside proper, live and learn. (Maybe it's not the same but decay is very low for sure!)
  20. Probably mentioned, sorry if that's the case! To get fire starting skill up I used to use a mag lens and wait for sunshine.. Get in a cave while it's sunny, have 100+ sticks in a corpse or backpack (or on the floor) .. and start 1 stick fires at 3 campfires. I still use that 'technique' (if I'm lucky to find a lens..) ..T'was a sunny day, truth be told.. then the weather changed.. surprise! Cave I'm talking about is the one at ML, near Western Entrance (Doesn't have a name?) I was so close to getting to lvl 5 when the sun disappeared Lightbulb appeared.. Gather loads of wood, make 4(!) fires in the cavern; One to use all the firewood to let it going for 2 days if needed. Have your bedroll, food (fishing huts nearby) and sleep at the back of the cave if needed. Take torches from the one long lasting fire to start the other 3 fires. Even with a 21% torch you can start 6 fires. Still think a mag lens is a blessing..
