  1. Thanks for the heads up. I'm now resigned to waiting another year for the completion of story mode. Honestly, I was hoping to see something a lot sooner, but I guess you can't rush inspiration and creativity.
  2. I put a suggestion on the wish list to remove the instakill walls in general and in the ravine citing exactly those sentiments and the admin team responded that they would take the request into consideration. I hope they do, because what's the difference if my character is going to die because I goat down into an area that I can't get back out or I just die from making the first step. dead is dead, but at least it shouldn't be instantly because I make a foolish decision to press my luck.
  3. In the Zone... I always wanted to drive a big dump truck! Did not expect to find this out here deep in the bowels of the dig
  4. The prompt said snapped, but I'm pretty sure all that toxic waste had something to do with making that line brittle!
  5. my thoughts exactly, but turned out when I went to retrieve my prize the line snapped!
  6. ...why do I get the feeling this is a bad idea? I'm hesitant on what I'm gonna find here...
  7. As I continue to grope my way along the darkened passages of the Langston mine, I found another unfortunate soul. Considering the heavy accumulation of toxic gases, I'm surprised this wretch even made it this far down this corridor as they had to pass numerous signs that clearly read, "TOXIC GAS." I can only imagine this individual either was illiterate or actually thought they could nonchalantly stroll thru the mine without the proper gear. He could have avoided death as there was a sign pointing to the elevator. If only he had chosen a different path he might have survived. As I turned out his pockets, I found a key, apparently to a minebox! I guess I'm going to have to make another trip down there in order to locate my prize! I thoroughly enjoyed drinking his soda as soon as I was clear of the toxic gas.
  8. I'm wondering what kinda nefarious forces were at work at the Langston Mining Complex that led to a teddy bear being partially infused in the stone walls of this cavern. Maybe some kinda Philadelphia Experiment gone awry? So many questions...
  9. As I continue my exploration of the Langston mine, the body count continues to rise with each newly discovered corridor and shaft in this mammoth excavation. I found this guy in a little alcove around 100 ft below ground near a stairwell landing leading down to the 200 ft level. Having just come up from that level, I knew that area was full of toxic gas, basically unbreathable atmosphere where you'd have to be wearing the proper safety gear and equipment in order to survive. Besides a dented can of Stacy's Grape soda, this wretch had nothing of value and was now doomed to spend his eternity in darkness. I wonder if he was one of the Forest Talkers, maybe he had been sent here to sabotage the mining operation and somehow got lost and ended up just dying here as they couldn't find their way out. We'll never know.
  10. The Boss's Cabin Area I guess there musta been some pretty nefarious dramas being played out at the mining operation on account looks like somebody fragged the boss...
  11. Posted yesterday at 07:55 PM ...cant really say that I'm impressed with the new animal harvesting animations. They feel clunky and kinda spasmodic at best and there's no sense of timeliness as it all ends so abruptly. On top of that, now that we have gloved animations, why is every animal harvest done bare handed? I'm all for animations that make a game more immersive but if this is benchmark for the quality level of their work, I'd rather see them dedicate their efforts elsewhere. If anything at all, I'd just like to be able sit down on a chair or bench and be able to look around the room. Now that would be immersive, am I right?
  12. The Langston mining complex is a deadly place and the amount of dead bodies strewn about is a testament to the harsh conditions of the job and the unyielding forces of a nature. As I explore the dig, I find another body... I can't imagine what led this person to come down here into this toxic accumulation of gases without being properly equipped with the company issued respirator and assorted ppe. I suspect he was not a worker here and was unaware of the hazards. They probably were quickly overcome by the accumulation of toxic fumes, brought on by the lack of any wind as the day was nice and clear, basically breezeless. Being at the bottom of the pit would probably be like sitting in the bottom of giant bowl as the heavy toxic gases slowly displaced the breathable air.
  13. yeah, that would have come in pretty handy considering I was attacked by a bear during one of my first harvesting experiences. I could hear the bear approaching and I was looking all over for a cancel button so I could address the threat, but then suddenly both animations kinda collided and I was next being viciously mauled but somehow miraculously was able to harvest the complete deer while only dropping one length of gut in the process... This "improvement" needs some additional tlc in order to work and look better. I'm not impressed.

  15. After whiffing some toxic gas at the Langston Mine today, my jedi powers grew considerably. I can now levitate barrels of toxic waste very high into the sky!
  16. As I make my way into the mining camps, the first thing I encounter is a sitting corpse in the guardhouse shack. Surprisingly, he is covered in a layer of snow, while sitting in an enclosed room with intact windows and closed doors. Doesn't make any sense if you ask me. I turn out his pockets and find nothing of value, except this nearly ruined can of Stacy's Grape Soda. I left shaking my head and curious as to what killed this person. As I make my way up to the buildings behind the guard post, I find another sitting corpse. Clad identically to the corpse in the guard shack, this guy apparently just sat down and died right outside of the bunk house. He too had nothing to yield when I searched his corpse. I did pass a couple of toxic spots on the way here and the air was thick with nauseous gasses, so perhaps this poison in the air caused these people to die? I dunno, but I'm not sticking around here for long, just in case the wind shifts an starts blowing toxic fumes my way.
  17. lol, you should see how long and sharp my fingernails are now that I haven't clipped them in over 258 days...
  18. New animations for harvesting Carcasses have been added. Note that Fresh or Frozen kills will now need to be initially dressed with an appropriate Tool. No more bare-handed Harvesting of newly killed animals. I think it's a big mistake to remove bare-handed harvesting of newly killed animals especially rabbits, where it would be so easy to quickly remove the hide and guts without the need for a knife or other tools. I can see the point behind not being able to butcher a frozen animal without the appropriate tools, but anything freshly killed should have the option of bare-handed harvesting since the kill has not yet begun freezing. At the very least minimize what can be harvested, just like smashing a can open doesn't destroy all the contents, but merely diminishes what can be eaten. I think in the same way, the amount of meat could be limited and the player not be able to recover the guts or hide. This would be a much better work around in my opinion while keeping the game immersive.
  19. I'd have to agree that "Better Bases" is indeed the best of the worst when it comes to taxing gameplay. The loading times are immensely long and just for that reason I had uninstall it. I did have a chance to chat with the mod author and they were fully aware of the issues but were also reluctant to put any effort into improving their content until Hinterland rolled out their base customization content. I can see the logic behind it, as why put all the work into making a mod that may just become irrelevant when the game devs release their improvements. I do miss the ability to move things around and particularly to clean up the litter, which is why I was using it in the first place. I do think that once we get the new content, there will still be a need for a mod like Better Bases, at the very least I suspect we will see the return of the mod Remove Clutter which had been incorporated into Better Bases. In the mean time, I'm counting the days til we get the next update. Now if only I could get my little fox companion back...
  20. Finally got it! Got some water on the fire and am ready to brew me a pot of coffee!
