  1. Making my way to the summit on Timberwolf Mountain, I found this bloke frozen to death in a little cave in Echo Ravine with his laptop. Not too far away were a couple of intact cargo containers with plenty of useful items. I turned out his pockets before leaving only to finding my favorite soft drink, a can of Stacy's grape soda and a bag of ketchup chips. I always wondered what he was doing on his laptop when his fate befell him, so I waited until the next aurora before wandering back to his final resting place only to discover to my surprise what he'd been up to... I hope he died happy...
  2. @artmunki, every picture tells a story doesn't it? And although you typically don't characterize the abundant amount of sitting corpses you find in the game, I can appreciate the special nature of the touching moment you must have felt when you stumbled upon this scene. Thanks for telling their story.
  3. As a player who mods their game extensively, for the pure enjoyment of playing, I do really miss not being able to mod the Wintermute side of the game. Prior to the separation of the Wintermute from Survival, I loved to play in story side of the game while having access to all the mods that made my gameplay so enjoyable in the sandbox. I enjoyed being able to use mods like Place Anywhere for example. If as @HyperLordBender says - As for the separate of Wintermute and Sandbox, this has had no noticeable affect on modding, outside of no longer being able to mod Wintermute (Melon Loader would need to support it). What would it take for Melon Loader to be updated so story mode could mod friendly again? Financial inducement perhaps?
  4. came across these two bodies today whilst I was out beach combing along Coastal Highway. Found this guy sitting out in the open on this little knob of an island between Misanthropes Cabin and the fishing shack that's nestled between it and Jack Rabbit Island. There was nothing about him that indicated how he died but I did find a single rusted can of sardines when I turned out his pockets. At least he had a nice view from his final resting place. then of course there's always this guy slumped against the base of rocks that make up Jack Rabbit Island. He had a decent view of the ocean from his final resting place, I hope he glimpsed a ship on the horizon before the shuffled off his mortal coil. I found nothing when I turned out his pockets.

  6. It all started with discovering the dual king freight liner that was abandoned just on the other side of the collapsed tunnel leading into Mountain Town. It was a heck of a wreck considering it was the last shipment of supplies heading into the area. I managed to haul an assortment of goods out of there and have slowly begun to stock the stores shelves in the ole Orca Gas station. Stepping in the first thing you might notice is all these brand new batteries. We got the power! Our counters are slowly filling up with all your favorite items. From flour to long grain rice and cups of noodles, we got crackers and cornflakes too! Our ready to eat section features some fresh soups, stews and flatbreads. Sorry about the microwave though, it only works under certain conditions... The truck was carrying the latest in home gardening products, so if you've ever wanted to start that indoor greenhouse, come see us. From soil to fertilizer there's also a wide range of seeds available too. Our snack wall may be meager for now, but at least we got a little variety. Roasted almonds and crispy crab snack crackers go well with ketchup chips and beef jerky. Still some unopened boxes of treats back in the truck so who knows what we'll have to offer in the upcoming weeks. Like cold drinks? We've got a tremendous variety to offer now. From energy drinks to exotic sodas, and of course two different varieties of beer. For you coffee lovers, check out our cold brewed lattes and specialty teas. Management has been keeping busy, getting up well before dawn each morning in order to prepare nourishing and delicious soups, stews and baked goods. The ole farmhouse kitchen is busy round the clock, for a blind little ole lady, Grey Mother sure knows her way around the kitchen. Brought to the store each morning, you can find everything from peach pies to pancakes, fishcakes and bread. Be sure to try out the venison pies and ptarmigan tarts. So delicious! Canned goods and Cookware items. Got your pots and pans, canned corn and ham! Spaghetti, beef stew and little cans of jalapenos too! Pineapple, Mangos and Pears. Oh my! There's even a hardware and camping section where you'll find an eclectic assortment of items. From paddles to pistols and all the things you might need. First aid supplies are in limited supply, but we do have both traditional medicines as well as homeopathic remedies. Got insulin and morphine too! In order to serve you better, there's even a bed where you can get a little rest! Welcome Barter Town. We don't take cash, so bring your bullets and bun wads! Let's make a deal real soon!
  7. too late now... After he walked by, I got out of the truck and went inside the gas station. I'll give it a shot (pardon the pun) if I find myself in similar circumstances!
  8. A real who done it in Mountain Town Molly's work or someone else?
  9. @Smellyfries, I really like the feel of this mod. It's overall very immersive from the perspective that all of the items appear and feel to be very lore worthy. It's definitely something a survivor with a little ingenuity and access to tools could and would be able to cobble together. I especially like the tents for camping out on the ice especially where no other shelters exist. Can't really make a snow shelter out on the ice, am I right?
  10. Had a little extra time so I crafted this tarp tent that's part of this mods camping equipment. I really like the concept, I just wish the color wasn't such a solid brand new looking color of blue. The tarps we see and find in the game all look worn and slightly battered, I was hoping we'd get that here too. I dunno, I'll stick with the bearskin tent for now.
  11. No, it does not appear that they do. You can actually walk right through any of the items... but the tanning racks do allow the hides to cure even when placed outside. I dunno, I'll have to setup outside on the ice for the full experience. The pieces do look so lore friendly though, just what the game needs to be that much more immersive imho.
  12. Just discovered this fun and immersive mod - Camping Tools v2.2.0 by Jods-Its Mod adds some makeshift tents and tanning racks covering wolf, deer, bear and moose hides. The tent is the bearskin version although there is also blue tarp version. The one thing missing is the fish rack. I cobbled that together myself and it could use some improvement, yeah, I know. Anyways you gotta craft the tents and tanning racks so you do need to collect the ingredients, hides and such. You gotta kill four bears to make this bearskin tent but it so worth the effort. The tent is pretty heavy too when you are carrying it in your inventory but ideal for use in remote places like HRV where I currently find myself. Monolith Lake is about the remotes place I can think of right now in this game and this tent along with the updated ice fishing feature is quickly helping to make HRV one of my more favorite regions. Curious if anyone else is playing with this mod and if so, what are your impressions?
  13. When you find that stocked bunker in HRV of all places. Found the Hunter's revolver here! Score!
  14. @J.W.P Impressive. Most impressive. But you have only begun to discover your power. I will complete your training and with our combined strength, we can end this geomagnetic event and bring order back to this forsaken island.
  15. Came to the cannery in BI to reload all that brass I've been collecting when I was alerted to this poor chap's predicament by the murder of crows cawing overhead. The crows swooped and cawed above the lifeless body and scolded me with a raucous cacophony of caws as if to remind me, they had found him first. I can only wonder how he came to die in this place. I relieved him of his possessions. The knife was sharp, and the sardines were surprisingly good. As a tribute to his final resting place, I fired his remaining flare in his honor. RIP traveler.
  16. Strange energy down in these bunkers. I can now manage multiple objects, levitating all these plates is going to make cleaning this kitchen so much easier!
  17. Found another victim of the event apocalypse when I reached the transmitter tower in Mountain Town. Not sure what happened here but it appears this guy maybe had the same idea but didn't have any of the necessary resources to complete the task. I dunno if out of desperation the used the knife on himself but when I picked it up, I noticed it was rusty and dull. I turned out his pockets to find nothing. This poor guy was definitely not prepared to survive the hardships dished out by the island.
  18. I could see a couple of aircraft crash sites due to factors like equipment failure or crashes due to bad weather, but given the sheer numbers of crashed aircraft now being found on the island, the only logical explanation is that these aircraft were all flying and were all simultaneously hit by the disaster of the event.
  19. I dunno, but the skies must have been full of aircraft the night of the event. Just found this crash while heading up to repair the transmitter in the Muskeg. A fair amount of loot left behind by the occupants.
