  1. For me its more like Hinterland became more a buisness then a developer. It's the same story that happens to bands who create a monster album, and later they are forced to produce more by there label and these albums just suck. Or like it happened with star wars or right now with game of thrones where you have something really great and some idiots lure you into their following bs. Redux should have happened 2017, episode 3 -5 2018 and major updates for sandbox at least every 3 months. Instead Hinterland is using it's resources to build up the studio and making the game itself second priority. That's why episode 3 hasn't been released although it already was finished but will be overhault again and again. And after it's finally released it either sucks or has to be overhauled to a new redux again Everything you hear from Hinterland regarding this are excuses. In 2015 and eve 16 the studio was way smaller, but more big updates were released with a higher quality. Also the game was, thanks to the community, basicly bug free for a long time till Hinterhand decided to throw overhault things that worked perfectly fine. I'm sorry, but season 8 of game of thrones really got me 😛

Obviously we can't say anything for sure without the output.log, but i remember having the same problem at one point and most of these bugs are just old bugs that reappear after an major update (unity). What you discribe happened two times already for a few players and it has something to do with your graphics card or NVIDIA-driver. That Linux-users claim similar problems is one more hint. So if you can, just upgrade your graphics card (some cheap for 50 bugs will do), and that should solve your problem.
  3. I can't say anything iabout the new things in detail yet, but regarding the HUD - the new spains icon pushed it over the line. The idea with the overhaul of the HUD was to make the game more immersive and don't be distracted by bars or icons, to not constantly doing math instead of just diving into the world. Now, i feel the advantages of the new HUD have gone. It's just too much. Could you please remove windshield, scent, sprains icons from the main screen and put them to the "tab - hud" ? If someone really wants to know if there is scent, wind or the risk for sprains you can just press tab. These informations don't need to be popping up constantly on the main screen.

  5. I've been through this also, when you are one of the few peoples who can't play - but i think it's somewhat an unfair reaction from you. I mean, saying that Hinterland doesn't help you after less then 5 hours of the release is a beyond ..... You can criticize Hinterland for a lot of things, but not that they don't fix major bugs very quickly after an update, within a few hours/days. That's actually a big strenght of Hinterland. And as far i can see, this time there are zero to none bugreports. So it seems the prewok/polishing worked well this time. Just stay calm! From my expreience i can tell you that crash bugs have first priority after an update for Hinterland.
  6. Just discovered this thread Seems not so hard to survive. The only thing i see is the random spawn that limits your chances. You could start over and over again till the game gives you the "right" spawn, or you could leave this rule aside, or you actually could say specificly that you have to spawn in TWM for example. What i mean is, if it's random i just start over and over again till i spawn in DP, CH, Milton or ML, if i can chose, i'd chose ML. The reason is simply, that this challenge depends on how fast you lose the condition you got. So you need a spawn in a small map with lots of loot and shelter. Also it makes it easy to not run for the forge but to use rabbits and fishing instead. Someone who spawns in TWM has a huge disadvantage against someone spawning in DP in that challenge. So either make it a rule to spawn in TWM (to make it really hard) or just spawn where you want (then it's not so hard to survive).
  7. I gave up on survival mode after all the years of asking that someone finally treats survival mode as a game itself and starts to balance things. With Redux, i actually enjoyed Wintemute, so i chose story mode although i naturally would've chose survival mode.
  8. When you restart? So don't restart then. If the spear is back at the lodge only when you restart, don't restart. This means that you can pick up the spear, and the spear is also in your side-inventory? With the spear in your inventory, there should be a small animation sequence right before the transition between forlon and mystery lake. What i'm asking is to be more precise so we can exactly understand what the problem is or where a bug is, or what kind of bug. Now you said that the bug (losing the spear) appears when you close the game after you've picked up the spear, but before talking to jeremiah. Obviously i suggest not restarting. Or can't you pick up the spear in the first place? Can you take the spear but it isn't in your inventory? Is it in your inventory but the mission file sais you still have to pick it up? Is it in the inventory and the mission file sais "go back to jeremiah" but if when you close the game now, everything is lost? Please tell us exactly what you are doing and what is happening. Picking up the spear, there is a short animation, and also when leaving Forlon Muskeg with the spear (on the way to jeremiah).
  9. For me, it sounds like a missinterpretation or false conclusion. Try to go to Jeremiah! I bet you read the mission file and at the same time you don't want to risk going back the dangerous way only to find out that you missed something or it's bugged and you have to do this again. Also you couldn't find the spear in your inventory - so that also made you think like that. The spear is shown in the inventory of special items (like letters, Astrids stuff ..... ) If you have the spear, just go back to Jeremiah!
  10. Maybe you've overlooked my question last time, so i try again: Can you please fix the animation of the lamp, so when turning the lamp on it doesn't move upwards anymore? Like it was before the animation? Some changes might bother a player, but afterr a while he gets used to it, but this still bothers me. Second: I'm not sure anymore if it's always, but with the redux update the progressing cycle now turns counter-clockwise (at least for some actions). Can you change it back to "normal" again please?
  11. I just remembered the first scene in the hanga and it came to my mind, what happens when you leave the misterious case behind? You can chose to put 3 of 5 things in the box, what if you leave the case and her backpack behind and instead take the pistol, medicine and food with you? Did anyone try?
  12. Can you please finally fix the animation of the lantern (automaticly going up) and make it again more organic as it was before?
  13. please tell us what you are doing exactly - not just "i stab the bear and he won't die". Have you problems holding the spear? Do you even hold the spear? Is it how long you hold the spear (stamina - timing)? Is it not beeing able to smash the left mouse button quickly enough to fill up the bar? Do you do everything right, win the fight, but the bear still doesn't die (fixed bug, but maybe not for everyone)? On what platform are you playing? Mouse or controller? What game version? The way you ask, i imagine you just holding the spear in you hand, doing nothing, and then wondering why the bear doesn't die automaticly So my answer would be, press left mouse to "hold up the spear" right before the bear attacks you.
  14. Till recently i played with an GT640 and 4GB on winXP (since 2014). After Pleasant Valley Update and a few months later, i had the same problem. A few weeks ago, some user had the same issue running win7, but also only 4GB Ram. TlD doesn't need much CPU and runs smoothly on the cheapest graphic card. If the cpu would cause a crash, the game would be very slow, stuttering and then the PC would crash, not just the game. Again, a game crash exeting/entering a building has happened before for some users. It's 80% the memory, or it is because of a missing feature regarding the graphics driver.
  15. When you take a look into your output.log, you will most likely see that you run out of memory. Game crashing when entering/exiting a building RANDOMLY is a known issue for years with low memory. If you onlly have 4GB of RAM then that's the issue. Here the solution is either upgrading to 8GB or trying to tweak Windows to not use so much memory. If you have 8GB, then adjusting Windows and programs rrunning in the background will do the trick. Post you output.log and we will know for sure.

  17. calm down, just like i said, if you killed him because you don't feel empathy for him, because actually you are angry at him, you think he is evil, than for me personally would be a questionable base to make your choice of, but still a normal behavior. But if you don't care about all that at all and just think: "oh cool, a knife, i need that" - than this is something very diffrent. I also don't want to brand someone here a "psychopath", i just wanted to point out that it makes no sense to kill someone with the justification of him beeing a psychopath and at the same time basing the real intention on getting the knife. I didn't want to judge anyone here, in the end it's just a game.
  18. I don't want to be rude here, but folks please! If you think in that situation like "i want this knife" - then actually you are a psychopath. That is exactly how someone without empathy or any kind of moral would think (a psychopath).. However you've decided, don't base that decision on getting the knife!
  19. One of the nicest moments of the game! Like Raph said, didn't it change you as a player? In my opinion we shouldn't meet him again later, that makes it even better. Will asks him something like: "now you go after grey mother?". And that makes the decision even harder. Now i have to live with this uncertainty wether or not i maybe caused grey mothers death after all by not killing him - or the other way around if you killed him and later in the story he maybe would*ve saved someone or helped you. Now if he comes back one way or the other, the game and Raphael would teach us by force how he thinks is the "right" decision because half of the players would be punished for their decision. So i think it would be best just to leave it this way, don't meet him again (at least not in an important way). In the first version of Wintermute you would meet him again and you would be punished/rewarded for your decision - Redux should keep the new spirit and shouldn't go that route.
  20. I think it is a bug, at least it shouldn't be that way: When you talk to Methuselah in Redux and you don't ask him anything more, later you can't talk to him anymore. So i went to ...... and encountered him in Reduy at the new place, clicked him, we talked shortly, but i didn't select any of the options that i could aks him because i wanted to loot first and talk later -> later i couldn't talk to him anymore. -> no options.

  22. Now that cannabis is legal in Canada, do you plan to send something to us or do you want to smoke it all by yourself? That would be a really amazing and funny addition to TlD, a cannabis plant. When you drink a tea from it, you will be able to sleep although you are fully rested. How cool would that be? "Adding more canadian style things"? - Here you go, i bet every gaming site would report about that. Any chances you consider adding this?
  23. I just started a new game for faithful cartogropher, so visited all places and thought about how TLD has changed over time and how every map has it's unique features. Then i realized that there is potentially a big issue regarding the story and how places are designed. Some places look like they have been abandoned for many years, others look like in the weeks after an catastrophy. Hydro dam for example looks like a place where people came long after the plant has been closed. At the same time you find to many things (loot) that tell a story of people all of a sudden just disappeared because they didn't even bother taking important items with them (abducted by aliens? ). In Maintenance Yard, a car is still on the lift with the toolbox beside it, as if someone who worked there just disappeared from one moment to the other. At the same time it looks like an abandoned place where vandals and thieves have raged over many years and also at the same time it has elements that says that people had to leave in a hurry, but will come back as soon the "earthquake" is over. Will there be an overhaul of the enviromental storytelling? I don't see how the story will explain why the whale facility (and many other places) looks like a place that has been shut down 20 years ago and since then has been scavanged, looted, experienced vandalism but you still find items you only would find if all people suddenly would have disappeared. If the story takes place in the weeks or months (even 2 years) after a catastrophy, where people would have left in a hurry but planning to come back, Hydro dam would be clean and organized (except damage caused by an earthquake or something).
  24. I just saw a gameplay video in my native language and the translation is horrible. It's like as if someone used a translation program instead of a professional translator. I normally play in english, that's why i was surprised seeing this. Are there plans to rework the translations either with the help of the community and/or with a professional translator?
  25. I made another thread, sorry - have the same problem. It has something to do with the localization (see update notes) The disclaimer should be in english (according to my steam and ingame settings) but it is in my nativ language.
