I found a sack of potatoes, cooking them up is easy enough, are there any recipes I should be aware of before I end up inhaling all 7 that I found? It would be bad if there was a cool recipe that requires potatoes and I ended up eating them all.

I’m glad hinterland added more cooking options, and more food items, it really does add a more cozy vibe to some parts of the game.

Well never mind, I didn’t want to go to pleasant valley anyway…

 

At least I now know what the Armored benefit does from the ballistic vest, it only takes 84 hours to recover rather than 120, so I’ll heal up before I head to pleasant valley.

And yes, I went back and killed the moose.

Ouch!!    From what I remember it saves you from damage but not your clothes..

Finally my broken ribs healed, I can now finally go to pleasant valley. Hopefully I’ll get some good stuff.

Yup, ingredients you will probably want to hoard are potatoes, carrots, burdock, acorns, reishi, rose hips, cans of peaches, cans of corn, oats, salt, cooking oil, flour, and maple syrup. Those are the "once they're gone they're gone" ingredients. Everything else is just meat or fish you can replenish indefinitely.

Oh and leave them in their unprocessed state too. For example if you prepare the rose hips, you can no longer use them to make rose hip pies. They are only for tea at that point. So keep them unprocessed so you have more options later.

Thanks for all the helpful info, I for the first time decided to dip my toes in the water by cooking up a nice dinner in the PV farmhouse. I think it turned out pretty well.

This is me cooking the food, as you can tell, I was pretty confused and didn’t know exactly what to do, and eventually figured out what I was doing. again, I think i did pretty good.

Took me a while too.  And then wondered why dropping three pies only gave me one until I dropped them individually... Weird mechanic..

Mostly been trying to fill out the map, made it to mystery lake, so far I’ve gotten most of the map. Here’s some things that happened along the way.
 

I found this little guy chilling in a cave.

a long while later, I was filling out the map, I was worried that the world was glitched or maybe since the game was a custom save, but for whatever reason, I couldn’t find any ptarmigans anywhere. Finally I found a flock when marking the destroyed lookout on the map. This was relieving because I thought they couldn’t spawn.

also, while coming back down from the intact lookout, there was a crashed plane on some rocks that I’d never seen before, have I been blind or did this get added recently?

I'm glad you found the birds.. it's been fixed on console for the last week ,longer on pc.  

That plane has been there a month or two,same as the other ones but they are hard to find unless you really cover the entire map.  There are at least two more maps that I know of but not sure about hrv as I don't go in there.

I was finally able to catch my first ptarmigan, poor thing.

I wanted to make this post immediately because I ran into another bug, not the worst, but it makes things a lot harder to tell what I’ve already mapped. It won’t let me see the collectibles, and if I try to go to the side to choose an area, it kicks me back as shown in this clip.

 

it seems to have merged the 2 pages and quitting the game and coming back In didn’t fix the issue. I hope this gets patched.

I had an issue with it too .. I haven't checked in a few weeks but I'll try and remember to in the morning....  

Have you filed a report for it? 

 

I'm glad you finally got a bird 🙂👍.      I'd recommend using the fire hardened arrows rather than stones.., you'll scare the rest off using them. But not with the arrows.

I forgot to check the collections pages this morning..  well I did remember but about twenty minutes after I had to switch it off..  typical😁.    

I'll seriously try and do it this afternoon.

I’m playing TLD right now, it’s still bugged. I’m making my way to costal highway, the rifle variant there is my main goal, but also cooking ingredients. Here is stuff that happened since my last post.
 

It took me 2 trips up and down the PV-TM rope to get everything up.

I also spent a couple of days repairing my moose hide cloak because it got to 5% condition and making a satchel to further increase my carry capacity.
