Beavers.

I think beavers  would be a wonderful Canadian animal addition to the game!

The landscape already shows fallen trees and log piles similar to the work of beavers.

Plus I think beaver pelts would be an amazing crafting opportunity!

 

(Beavers mostly, but maybe raccoons would be fun as well)

Clearly none of you are Canadian. You don't want to mess with the beavers; they can and will kill you if they decide they don't like you.

Seriously? Didn't think they were really aggressive! We've just had them introduced to our country.

That's because they generally aren't... until they see you as a threat. Then they can become very aggressive.

And they can move surprisingly fast when they decide to.

They might fit in with the game then, along with wolverines!

Personally I think that a serious apex predator like a mountain lion would be a good choice; native to that part of the world, and able to be extremely dangerous to the player, all the way on up to "if they get the jump on you you're highly likely to end up dead".

And I thought badgers were bad, but at least they're not amphibious.

I never trusted them, I knew they were murderers. No wonder I had nightmares about them.
