  1. I found the part in my game video where the sound happened for the first time in Ash Canyon and it sounded like someone was throwing snowballs which is why I stopped and looked around. I am also playing on the PS4 on Pilgrim. I was walking towards a snow shelter at the time, the same as happened the second time it happened. Here is the clip. The Long Dark - Survival - noise 2.mp4
  2. I have lots of matches, that's the one thing about playing on Pilgrim as there is lots of matches. I leave some spare ones in caves and other places like buildings with stoves or fireplaces.
  3. If you are in Ash Canyon again have a look just outside at Stone Shelf Cave where the burnt trees are as that was where I found my first giant birch bark. Its a fun bug. I've had floating matching on a bridge too in Ash Canyon, all sorts of strange going on's in there , giant birch bark, floating matching and strange noises.
  4. Found it in my video.... this was the second time. The first time it happened I stopped and looked all around me wondering what was that? But this second time it happened from this clip I just kept doing what I was doing. The Long Dark - Survival - loud noise.mp4
  5. I noticed a few big ones in Ash Canyon but there were small ones too, there could have been larger ones in other regions but I never really looked for them but any that I did pick up were normal size expect in Ash Canyon where some were large. I'll be keeping an eye out now in other regions and checking the birch bark to see if I can find any large ones in other regions.
  6. I've also had strange sounds in the game when I was in Ash Canyon, it was like someone or thing some was making a noise beside me. I'll see if I can find it on the video and post it here. It happened twice.
  7. I haven't seen them before in any region I was in and Ash Canyon was the only region I seen the giant birch bark. In the other regions I've been to so far the birch bark was a normal size. I have yet to fully explore Timberwolf Mountain and I haven't yet been to Hushed River Valley, Milton, Blackrock, Bleak Inlet and I have only been to some parts of Forlorn Muskeg.
  8. The ones I found that were large all looked to be the same size. I had always heard of people finding the giant birch bark but thought it must only be PC but I'm playing on the PS4 and its there too. I did put it into my inventory to see if it was any heaver but it weighed the same as the normal size birch bark.
  9. I found a giant birch wood for the time ever in the game. It was in Ash Canyon just outside at Stone Shelf Cave and I found more than one in different places in Ash Canyon after I found the first one. It made me smile too and I hope it stays in the game. 10. I first played The Long Dark in January 2018 and I bought the game because of story mode from watching the trailer on the PlayStation store. I played the first two stories and after I was finished I played survival mode for about an hour and died so thought nope too hard I'll just play the other story episode's when they come out. In the meantime there were updates to survival mode with new maps but I never played the game as I wasn't interested in survival mode and was waiting on the other stories to be released. I never played the game again until episode three was released in late 2019 and I enjoyed that story, after I was finished I went back and re-played episode one and two re-dux to see what was different from when I first played the original versions. In the original episode two I learned how to get birch bark and rose hips, cat tails and old man's beard lichen from Jeremiah which was helpful as I didn't even know what old man's beard lichen was and I just thought that was part of the tree hanging down like the trees you see in New Orleans, that part of the story was now no longer a mission. I liked having to hunt the bear in Mystery Lake in the original story rather than what happens now in the re-dux and I have fond memory's of looking for the bear in Mystery Lake and shooting him before he runs off again. All that said, after I finished episode three and played the re dux of episode one and two I decided to give survival mode another go as I knew my way around Pleasant Valley from the story as well Milton and I really got into survival mode, I played in Pilgrim as I wanted to enjoy exploring the maps without having to worry or get annoyed about wolfs or a bear attacking and killing me. I never planed either to platinum the game but I did in the end and did all the challenges and its the only game I keep coming back to. Before the update I had a save with over 600 days and at the minute in my new run I have over 100 days but its Pilgrim. I really like survival mode now as I know my way around most of the maps but like any game I do take breaks from The Long Dark to play other games and once I have mapped all the maps 100% again I'll park my character at Mystery Lake waiting until Perseverance Mills map is released for story mode so I can go explore it and I do hope it will be added free to survival mode and not hidden behind a paywall. But I'll always keep coming back to playing The Long Dark.
  11. I'm playing a Pilgrim run on the PS4 and I have found batteries in most cars in the region's I have been to so far, Pleasant Valley, Mystery Lake, Broken Railroad, Coastal Highway and Desolation Point all had batteries in some of the cars so its working OK in my run. I haven't taken any of the batteries from the cars yet but what I do is I leave the hood open so that I then know which cars have batteries in them and which ones don't.
  12. I'm playing a Pilgrim run on the PS4 and I haven't noticed any less or anymore birch bark. It depends really what region you are in as some regions spawn more birch bark than others. Some of the birch bark I have found in The Ravine which I have stored in the cave near the entrance to Mystery Lake.
  13. If you have a bedroll you can save the game at anytime, just put the bedroll on the ground and sleep for one hour and it will save the game.
  14. If you watch the video you will see I was able to pick up both rabbits. it was the second time I've had a rabbit disappear from my inventory. I play on the PS4. The first time it happened I noticed it but I thought no more about it but when it happened the second time it wasn't a coincidence. I'll be getting more rabbits again soon so I will see if it happens again for a third time and if it does I'll file a ticket report.
  15. Thanks. Yes you could say that. I played a lot of games on the PlayStation but The Long Dark is one I keep playing and coming back to after finishing other games. Deep Rock Galactic is a fun game that I enjoy playing too but The Long Dark is unique. I've been playing computer games since I first started on the Amstrad CPC 464 and also playing games in the arcades, then it was a Mega Drive then PlayStation 1, 2 ,3 and 4 PlayStation ever since. I don't own a PS5 yet and I'm not in a rush to buy one as I have lots of games to play on the PS4.
  16. In survival mode its a bit of everything, the music, the joy and peacefulness of being alone in the game except for the animals, the art style graphics', the views on both sunny days and snowy days, I like the views on snowy days better, and at night I enjoying watching the Aurora. I always take a moment now and then to enjoy the view depending where I happen to be on what map.
  17. Got some more beachcombing done. On Pilgrim. In Desolation Point I found Green Birch Sapling, Cloth, Stick, Ruined Coho Salmon Raw, Scrap Metal I'm now back in Coastal Highway and decided to check the beach near Misanthrope's Homestead on my way back to Quonset Garage and I found Cat Tail Head, Green Birch Sapling, Stick, Reclaimed Wood. I'm now back in Mystery Lake soon to be going to Ash Canyon then Timberwolf Mountain Summit so won't be beachcombing for a while.
  18. I have reported tickets for both bugs today along with the clips.
  19. I've been playing The Long Dark since January 2018 and this is the first time I've had a rabbit disappearing from my inventory so what you are saying makes no sense. The first two rabbits weren't killed by a wolf, I killed them with a stone and picked them up straight away and later when I went to harvest them there was only one rabbit in my inventory. I've put rabbits that have been killed by wolfs before into my inventory and they were always there when I went to harvest them, a rabbit that has been eaten by a wolf might have less meat but it will still have the pelt and the guts. The two rabbits that I picked up that were killed by a wolf were only killed a few seconds when I went and put them into my inventory so they were not fully or even half eaten by the wolf. Here is the video showing me picking up both rabbits and when I went to harvest them there was only one rabbit in my inventory. The Long Dark - Survival - Rabbit disspearing - Trim.mp4
  20. I shot a bear today in Coastal Highway and I found him dead a few hours later. I'm playing on Pilgrim on the PS4. He could be up to the left of that rock where the crows are, have a look again, if he's not there then it could be a bug. Also if you walk over past where that green trailer is, on the left there is a rope climb so he could be up there on higher ground, if there is no rope you can still get up there from the road.
  21. I've only beachcombed twice in Coastal Highway, I'll do some more when I get back to Coastal Highway. I did check the beach that is beside Waterfront Cottages on my way to Commuter's Lament but there was nothing washed up. Its always nice to find some new things as its better than nothing. I hope to find a boat washed up.
  22. Is anyone else having problems with rabbits disappearing from their inventory? I playing on the PS4 on Pilgrim. I didn't drop the rabbit by mistake. I caught two rabbits when I was in Mystery Lake and the two rabbits were in my inventory but when I got back to the Camp Office to harvest them there was only one rabbit in my inventory. The same thing has happened again now in Crumbling Highway, there was a wolf who killed a rabbit and he ran off when I walked towards him so I took the rabbit, a few minutes later the same wolf killed another rabbit on the road, again he ran off and I took the rabbit, I then went into a car and slept for a few hours and when I then went to harvest the rabbits there was only one rabbit in my inventory.
  23. Yes I am playing in pilgrim, I like to not have to worry about wolf or bear attacks, I have played in stalker too but there is just as much loot. Interloper is just too much of a chore for me trying to stay warm and all that, I just like to relax and enjoy the game. I stated in Pleasant Valley and I had no blizzards but when I went to Mystery Lake I had four blizzards, I had one in Forlorn Muskeg and I have had only one blizzard in Coastal Highway and I was inside when it happened. I'm now just about to leave the Abandoned Mine No. 5 to go to Desolation Point so I'll get some beachcombing done there too. Before I leave Coastal Highway I beachcombed once more and found one each of, Cedar Firewood, Green Maple Sapling, Stick, Scrap Metal, Cat Tail Stalk.
  24. I spent 28 days in HRV when I was going for Faithful Cartographer, I was playing in Pilgrim. I have been in there a few times since but not for very long. Its a maze in there but I have started a new run since the update as I lost my other run of over 700 days, the save was on the ps4 but it wouldn't show up in the game and happened when the Black Rock map was put in survival mode. I would have lost the save anyway with the new updates. I will be going to HRV again in this run and will get to know my way around it better this time.
