  1. Sheesh. i thought this would be easier. i made it 12 days this time. apparently, revolvering a wolf only scares the other wolves away for like 10 seconds. caught me just above the TWM lake by the hut.
  2. oh and still smarting from my only wolf attack too. Couldn't get the rifle up fast enough and ended up fending him off with the heavy hammer. didn't even cause a ton of damage either, maybe 30% health. i used one birch tea to recover but had to wait on a second dose because i was down to 5 matches before i found the pack in the basement of the PV farmhouse. gonna climb up to the plain crash now.
  3. Day 7 - here's my gear. Not great but not terrible. Way heavy though. spent some time in the sun at Mystery Lake, then up to the damn. Not great loot anywhere so i took it over to PV. got the combats and the military coat at the radio control hut. Spending the night at the farmhouse now.
  4. well, that's been brutal. I am sure it'll get easier after i can live a little bit and collect some gear. that being said, it took me 7 tries to live long enough to get the well fed bonus. also, had a Muskeg start, picked up the hammer and decided what the hey, let's forge some arrowheads dammit.
  5. hah hah hahhah stupid broken railroad start.
  6. Been playing vanilla loper for a little while now. Got a decent run going to about 40 days and it's still saved but while i was playing i had an idea for a slightly different challenge. Calling it Geared Deadman. Quite simply, i am tired of forging. This one is more of a race to get the best gear before it decomposes and the weather turns aweful, as opposed to a race to get 12 scrap metals, coal and a forge. This is the code - 8MHI-/z8M-Dw+/-wSWm-bAAA Just a few adjustments: 1. rifle and handgun added. duh 2. baseline resource set to medium 3. starting gear set to medium (don't want to spend my first week hunting for the bedroll) 4. birch tea crafting 5. bears and moose set to high so the high end gear should be available but rare and in poor condition. I tried a couple attempts and was 0-2 in the first couple days due to wolf attacks, so that part is way brutal. But it was absolute heaven finding a hatchet next to a corpse. I am also not going to make a mad dash for the TWM summit. Not saying i won't get there eventually but that seems to defeat the purpose. So no healing at all except for birch tea. I know from experience that the real killer is the fatigue on these settings. that and wolves. anyway, if you are reading this, thanks!
  7. just saw this. Fantastic challenge. I tried doing an endless night run back when i earned that perk after the challenge came out and it was incredibly difficult. Is it just impossible to repair clothing? also, i have over 3000 hours in this game and i have never caught a moose carcass laying there. again, awesome stuff.
  8. got harvesting five finally.
  9. last day of IP. that last dear saved my bacon.
  10. Day 5 with the parasites. Had to go out hunting bc food. Went wolf hunting near the dam. Got wolfed in the process. Fended him off with my hatchet. Slept a day, didn't find his corpse. But i did bag another dear near the river and brought all 9 KG back to my cave home. just a few more days left of sickness. It gets tougher now though with the fatigue.
  11. ok, need to figure some stuff out. I have some antibiotics but not enough. I need mushrooms. I also need food and a safe place to sleep for when the sickness gets really bad. i could try to stay in the mystery lake cave and fish for my supper but I suck at that. Plus wolves. camp office isn't near food and trappers is now pretty far. plus wolves. i took my sick butt to the ravine again. shrooms there and i can get lucky with some deer maybe.
  12. Day 73 - camp office. you will notice i have a little bit of an issue going on. yeah. am at cooking 4.80 or whatever and i got the parasites. I doubled up on bear meat out of necessity and now i am sunk. i do have some treatments but not enough at this point. plus, i will need food and plenty of safe space to recover. shit.
  13. got wolfed after harvesting a second deer. Right near the little swampy area where the moose sometimes spawned. Never seen a wolf there before. anyway, he got me down to about 40% condition. Need to start hunting for birch again. I am going to wait for decent weather and then do the Muskeg transition, ridge area. I think there are some birches there. i did kick his butt later when he followed me into the cave though. Small consolation.
  14. nice one shot deer. decent weather for harvesting. Gotta chill here and tea my way back up to strength.
  15. Day 60 here. Was just thinking how great i've been doing in avoiding any wolf or bear interactions. I think i had just gotten lucky. Also the revolver early really helps, although i don't even have it with me anymore. got jumped at the Milton gas station bc i had to use the crowbar to open the door.
  16. ah, it preserves the condition of the meat for quite a long time. It doesn't matter once you hit cooking 5 but until then it helps. I remember when i first started playing i'd cook up a deer or whatever and i'd store it indoors and after a night or two it would be rancid. Then i started trying to sleep in spots where there's an outdoor container, fishing hut drawer or backpack. You live and learn. about day 55 now. Killed bear # 2 at trappers. Two bullets for him. Once in the head and then caught him in the butt as he was running away. gonna leave his hide in the cabin and then head down to Milton for a bit.
  17. i swear, i never fell off the raving trestle. ok, i did once. many moons ago...
  18. wow, i spell like old people screw. sorry!
  19. let's fast forward some time. I started another run, because of course i did. Tough start but it ended up working out. I changed the rules a bit to allow handguns as well as rifles. Why? bc i wanted to dammit. anyway, TWM start. did get the handgun and a bunch of bullets when i treked down to PV. i also got the hacksaw. I went back to TWM and summited. When i came back down, there was a moose waiting for me on the way out of the mountain. It took 12 revolver shells but i downed him finally. I even lugged all 30 KG of meat back to the mountaineer's hut and my stone fridge. stayed there a good long time while making deer pants, rabbit hat and gloves. am about a +18 warmth now. ate all my food and made the satchel (yes!) thought briefly of heading up to the new map to get the climbing gear but my only weapon was the handgun, 4 bullets and it was at 18% condition. Decided to head to a forge. So down to the thomsons crossing, then out through Coastal Highway and the the Point. Had a good run at the point, picked up the rifle in that last car before the crumbling high way and then another revolver (38% condition) from the whaling corpse. Forged a hatchet, knife arrow heads and arrows. Now i am 40 days in. I am at the fishing village at Coastal trying to catch fish. not doing great at that. i have 4 wolf hides cooking and deer hides ready to make boots. Plan is to chill hear till all is cured and then climb out to the raving and then the damn to forge there. Will need food for the trip and the crafting and i ate most of my cattails but so far it is a good run. here's my gear.
  20. the loot is nice but man that Bleak Inlet is a tough customer. I would say it is my least favorite of all the maps. Not in the sense of "it's tough, tough by fair". I mean least favorite as in i don't want to ever go back there but it is unique so i must.
  21. I have a love/hate relationship with fog. on harder settings, it actual indicates some warmer weather. Until you get lost in the middle of a frozen lake, get turned around and then stumble into something awful.
  22. nice start. having to use a stim so early bites hard though.
  23. and that's all she wrote. still, not a bad run. 110 days. spent a few days at every map except the new one. Somehow didn't get to fire starting 5 even though i lit 1,000,000 little warming fires.
