  1. last post. Here's my "home" below the island. I just like the randomness of starting new runs. The first 100 days are really the most exciting. Once you get past that, at least on Loper, there isn't much to worry about except for falling off a cliff or stepping on a hot cable (which i have totally done) Long term survival wishlist: 1. Get some updates for long term players. Make skills levels go to 10 and make them more incremental. 2. Topped out Sewing skill should be able to repair ruined clothing 3. A more challenging "official" mode than Interloper. Yes, I've played deadman and did the 30 day challenge a few times. It's cool to see how long you can make it beyond that but since it's not official, no stats are kept so it is hard and demotivating to track. anyway, great game. The best $10 I have ever spent.
  2. Here's my gear. what's interesting is that it took about 480 days to hit sewing 5. I totally forgot about it by then. That seems odd.
  3. but yeah, there's my 500. I started a new run when they made the airfield update bc I thought it would be a decent challenge, and it kind of was. I played half the game doing the usual stuff on island and then went to the Airfield. That is a very very long walk in the dark to get there. I closed out my run with 275+ days at the airfield which was an ok challenge. Couple hints to surviving the airfield. The cave below the island is really the only viable home for long term living. There's two fishing huts nearby and the cabin up top is good for collecting firewood, warming back up and then heading out again. I didn't bring a hammer so never had to use the forge. I think i started with 10 arrows and ended with 7. I just kept going back to the airfield to make more. There's plenty of scrap metal and cloth there too. I also got a simple tool kit there so i only had to repair my hacksaw. Every time I thought i would run out of food, I got a new bear to kill. Average a new one every 40 days or so. There were a few tricky moments where i either had to journey beyond the frozen lake to kill some deer and wolves. The weather is ALWAYS freezing. I don't think i ever got a day where I didn't get the 2 arrows down in the cold, and that's with two bearskin coats, all animal clothing, two good sweaters, etc. I never starved, not even for one day on my run. There's just so many cattails around. I still have over 100 of them. I got a little nervous with this latest update that my save would be lost so i hurried through the last 30 days. I almost ran out of cooked food bc hut fishing was bugged. It still seems funky bc even at fishing 5 with lures and bait i am only getting a fish every 3 hours.
  4. yes, i realize that 500 days isn't that long. Truthfully, I'm 5000+ hours into the game and had innumerable Loper runs. I've typically ended them all around 200-250 days out of sheer boredom. There's just not much to do once you get cooking, hunting and fishing 5. There's no point putting your life in danger around timberwolves where you could actually die.
  5. ok, not that i get easily distracted by other TLD challenges or anything but this 1 map living stuff is H.A.R.D. hardddddd.
  6. darn it. i was curing a ton of rabbit pelts and guts. even 2 deer hides too. went out of the homestead, not out of desperation but getting greedy for some meat and this happened. SOB. oh well, not quite 5 days on the kegstand first try. It just stinks because it takes a ton of restarts to get the FM launch.
  7. ugh, i hate when i do this. get distracted. so Kegstand. Forlorn Muskeg on Interloper. and throw in a bevy of Titos and Tonic too. hey, i made it to Carcassing 2!
  8. so Kegstand is pretty much Interloper on FM only right? did you die around 50 days or can it and start over? interesting.
  9. i wish i could have shared this shot with you. the problem with killing that bear and bringing his stuff back to the cave near the trailer/work bench is the wolf that's always present. he's jumped me on my way back to the cave several times on several runs. i tried to get him to chase me to where the little rabbits are on the way to the HRV cave but he wouldn't bite. I then climbed up stealthily on this little ridge above him, aimed and one shotted him like Robin Hood.
  10. feel like he's always on the far side of the bridge, no matter what run you are on. I remember one time he was sleeping and i thought he was dead. Merp.
  11. passed the 200 days. Made it up to Milton again after a long trek back to Mystery Lake, then Muskeg, then Milton Basin, etc. hard to believe I haven't been here yet. Nice and foggy so that i can't see if the bear is there.
  12. yep, it does seem like there is plenty of sticks on Interloper but not a ton of fire wood. I think it's possible to keep your clothing in good shape and sleep in the forge bed, only lighting a fire at nighttime. I did run into trouble during snow storms during the day when a fire was a must. anyway, not much to report. Closing in on 200 days now. Still at FM but made side trip back to the basin then to Milton to get more cloth. got a 6 KG wolf though which was pretty solid.
  13. i couldn't resist. i used one of my stims because heaven forbid i do something stupid and lose it all. i slept in. have enough food. i even have skins to fix up my ratty equipment, save some cloth, once it all cures. not worth the risk when you play the long game. this run is really interesting. i made it to 280 days on interloper one time but it was so g damn boring at the end i just left. this one is different. i wonder what it will be like in 200 more days when there are no cattails left. when there's no rose hips or birch trees to make arrows. let's f'n go!
  14. ugh, another suck fest at the muskeg. cooked up the bear at the poachers. slept a good night and started back to my cave home the next day carrying the hide, some guts and about 10 KG of bear meat. caught a wolf on my trail and tried to run across some thing ice. didn't think to put on my special climbing gear and fell through the ice. struggling but it was my own stupid mistake. no more friday night whiskey while playing.
  15. bear kill again. this poor guy got stuck in some kind of loop and was just fidgeting and farting around. 3 arrows to kill though.
  16. was thinking of staying at the homestead on FM bc of the forge, bed, etc. but if i have to light a fire every night to not die, this is untenable.
  17. dammit. played wolf roulette one too many times. hatchet is at like 12% condition too. hopefully it doesn't crap out on me.
  18. back to the Muskeg. It's an odd thing going wolf hunting. You spend the whole game trying to avoid them but now you need them as food resources get more and more scarce. and of course this guy gets the wolf fear and runs from me.
  19. apparently, i hatcheded him so hard i put him through a wall. take that vile beast!
  20. and of course as soon as i get in, wolf attacks before i can get to the fire barrel.
  21. finally! took 3 nights and more cattails than i wanted to spend.
