  1. As far as I've experienced each bear is connected to just one Den as its "home" location. Every bear I've tracked eventually always returns to their home Den. I've never tracked a bear that didn't have a Den. Bear to Den ratio 1:1
  2. @UpUpAway95 I don't mind starting a new run for science... I'll let you know if my findings match yours. If I find what you've found, I'll be submitting a ticket as well. (yes, I'm on PC)
  3. @UpUpAway95 In my present run (started before the update), I am currently in Timberwolf Mountain... the spot between the Moutaineer's Hut and the Landing Gear Wreckage has had a confirmed moose and does sport the Bark Scrapings. I've not had the chance to look for them in the previous 5 regions I've already explored. I know that the Bridge in Desolation Point has always seemed to be missing the Bark Scrapings but is frequently an active spawn location. I would suggest submitting a ticket with your findings. If it's bugged, then it ought to be on their list of things to fix.
  4. I've mentioned it before, but since that thread got locked and the discussion seems to have relocated here, and I think it bears repeating... (Original) I can understand the disappointment and all... but all things considered; I'd say that Interloper was never "feature complete" (in terms of game content). I might remind folks that rifles, revolvers, hunting knives, hatchets, top tier "manufactured" clothing items (Expedition Parka and so on...), and the majority of TWM cargo containers were always absent from Interloper. With the idea presumably being, that not only did we face harsher weather, more deadly predators, and fewer resources in the world... that the "best" clothing and equipment were nowhere to be found. The handheld shortwave receiver... is in my estimation, purely a "Wayfinder" leading our survivor to yet more gear and supplies... which in my mind would be sort of counter to the point of Interloper. So... I completely understand and support Hinterland's decision. On the other hand... It's probably not so much the loot that the "lopers" are lamenting, but I'd venture to guess it's most likely the lore... That I'd perfectly understand and sympathize with. Perhaps there might be consideration in the future for the team to find a way to incorporate the shortwave receiver (and associated activities) for Interloper? Perhaps all the bunkers and caches are bereft of food/gear/and supplies... Perhaps they had been already raided by the last remnants of the Forest Talkers... and only the bits of lore remain. Might that possibly be a decent way to incorporate those elements without compromising the rigors of interloper? Again, I can understand folks being upset about missing out on the additional lore... but I also think there comes a point where it becomes a topic for folks to just grouse on about.
  5. @sierra 117 I noticed... but just assumed it was something that had change recently. I don't remember the capacity for that large wall/pantry cabinet being that big in the past... but I can't say I'm sure about that. Trying to track down change logs... 🤔
  6. @xanna As far as I have experienced each bear is linked to just one den (but it can have a few different routes to wander). **Yes, there are occasions where a den is not marked by bones - just as there are some occasions that an active Moose Spawn is missing Bark Scrapings. Each bear's den essentially being it's home location. Specifically for Pleasant Valley, I've only ever confirmed up to three bears to be present each run. So yes, there are more potential den locations than there are bears that will appear. Here's a list of all the potential bear den locations that I can recall confirming during my runs over the years:
  7. @xanna As you point out there several potential spots for a bear den... generally in Pleasant Valley, I've only known there of there being three Dens that manifest for each run. So either when the run begins, or when we first enter the region (whenever that roll is actually made); that's when up to three dens appear at any of the various possible spawn locations.
  8. 🤭 It's just the framework really... there's more detail work and the hut up top needs to be build out properly. Never put the time into ever really building anything in Minecraft before.
  9. I've been reading over all of these recent wishlist items... and I do not want to discourage your creativity, but I will offer a thought. I wouldn't want the game to turn into something else (like Green Hell or a bog-standard shooter...). I would also caution about all the skill tree's you're outlining... I tend to think that if so many things are dependent upon "skill levels" then I think it could negate a lot of individual player skill. Personally, with some of the additional skills you talk about... reminds me a bit of Fallout New Vegas. That's a fine game... but I personally would like The Long Dark to keep feeling like The Long Dark, and I caution folks wanting to change & add so much that it mutates into something else entirely. Those are my thoughts. It's not a criticism, just my concerns about the slippery slope of how games sometimes get so crammed with different elements that it can lose it's identity and risk becoming a kind of generic knockoff of its former self.
  10. When I got up this morning... I was greeted by a rather thick fog. 🤔 I suppose I could spend the day boiling water to bolster my meager supply of drinking water. However, my food supply is rather low and the first days of getting established in any region are generally the most critical. It didn't take long before I decided I'd have to venture out in the fog... I figured I had two potential routes to consider. The first would take over to the nearby birch forest (near the lower wing wreckage), but between the wolves and the Echo Peak Bear... seemed a bit risky with how dense the fog was. The other, that would be a more meandering path, but one that I considered a bit safer (if a bit longer for the round trip). After a shot time considering it... I choose the later. As I was making my way back up to the bluff... "Freight Train of Hate and Hunger... ALL ABOARD!!!" ...Umm, no thanks. Maybe I'll catch the next one... With the bear skulking down along the river, I took the chance to take a look inside the cave just further up the slope (and just inside that arrow pass). Sticking close to the ridge line I was hoping to skirt past... as I slowly crept forward, I found at least two wolves prowling out in the fog, but far too close for me to slip by. I'd have to take the long way around by backpedaling and head over to the containers from yesterday. As I continued along the edge of the bluff, the fog began to lift. Spotted my first Oak Tree on Great Bear Island, but with the wolves nearby it didn't seem like a good time to root around for acorns. Moving onwards and slipping by the wolves I made it to the slope I'd need to compensate for the lack of rope on the climb I spotted the other day (the area leading the "upper engine wreckage"). However, before moving on up the river to look for Cargo Conatiners... I thought I'd make a stop to visit Adre's Peak. On the way back down, I passed by one of the interconnecting caves. Just a little further up the river was what I was hoping to find. Further on ahead and around the bend... another cave; but that one will have to wait until much later. 😉 I did take a quick walkabout the rest of the area on this shelf, however not much more of interest... a fairly good cluster of saplings though. If I ever decided to harvest any, this is certainly a good sport for it. Rather than use the rope... I decided I goat my way down. That black/brown spot in middle of that shallow cave... bear taking a nap. Mother always said, "let sleeping bears lie." 🤭 Finally made it back to my main encampment just after dusk, and quickly began to sort and stow the day's find. My basic supplies are looking better. I still could use a day to focus bolstering my water supply... but it might be better to press on towards the Echo Peaks tomorrow. 🤔 I'll have to think on it some more. [Addendum] You'll have to forgive the snapshots where the HUD elements snuck in... I suppose my timing F10+F12 wasn't as perfectly synched in order for it to come out right. I didn't notice at the time, and they were shots I still felt warranted inclusion.

  13. I rarely seek a session right after an update... I usually wait for at least a round of hotfixes. However, I'm really interested in seeing about fire-hardened arrows. 🤭 Hopefully the any bugs I encounter aren't... catastrophic.

  16. It wasn't long before sunup, and I used the time to get things sorted and stowed away. I wasn't in very good condition after the hard trek from Desolation Point, so I'm going to stick close to Crystal Lake. I only have maybe one day of food, so I was going to have to either find some or I may actually need to resort to hunting/fishing. I'd have to see what the day would bring, but I have to be careful until I get a proper night's sleep. 🤭 It was a beautiful morning on Crystal Lake... I thought I'd spotted that moose when I was on the way in... I heard it nearby at any rate. But for now, I don't really have a need, let alone a means to hunt it. However, it's always a good idea to get to know one's neighbors. So far, I've spotted two rabbit run, two small packs of wolves, a moose, and a solitary deer out on the ice. I stashed a few sets of Fishing Tackle in the Fishing Hut... so if push comes to shove, I'll fish. Even though it was getting a bit late in the day. I thought I might risk a short trip up to the bluff overlooking the lake. Found a fair bit if food and supplies, by I had to careful of the wolf nearby... well as the two wolves below. Rather than follow the river back down... I worked on finding a good spot to goat my way down the bluff. With the contents of both containers, I my pack was exceptionally heavy. It was getting dark before I made it back to the Mountaineer's Hut. ...crawled in bed for long night's sleep. I don't know if I want to head towards Echo Peak tomorrow... or explore further up the frozen river. I think I have container options for either route, if I tread carefully. 🤔

  19. @TheOtherBob It's a simple observation... Epic is responsible for getting updates to their player on their platform... Microsoft is responsible for getting updates to their players on their platforms... and GoG is responsible for getting updates to their player on their platform. It's not an attitude... I think if I had a problem with GoG, then I probably ought to register a complaint it GoG. That's all.. wasn't passing judgment (as you just did), I was offering a polite suggestion. It's a bit uncalled for to try to get personally insulting.

  22. Personally, I find I don't need any additional "incentives" to want to live on and explore Great Bear Island.
